Bit embarrassing … or am I being over sensitive?

I never said I want the thread to die? It's all quite amusing to myself tbh.

It’s amusing to me. Particularly the rando who keeps replying to me asking why I am obsessed.

I cut size labels out of my clothing especially jackets coats cardis and I have been size 10-18 back to 10 up down since having kids. I would have been annoyed if someone blurted it out - any size!! I would say if OP was self conscious she would have cut them out I think it’s more of the way her colleague blurted that out with ‘that would fit my mum’ either meaning that’s small for a 22 or just complete word vomit

I worked with her. None of us believed she was a size 14 until she showed us and then ‘showed’ her pelvis through her clothes, it is much bigger than average but you can’t see it to look at her.

Sorry OldCottageGreenhouse but it has been a quiet day at my work and the boss is away, my colleagues have been just as fascinated with the large pelvis as me (well they wanted to know what i was laughing at so hard I was almost crying when i was reading the 'fun fact' teambuilding message). We've been reading up on it all day!
Best you don't tell your colleague I think . . .

It depends if it was meant in a malicious way or if they are just generally a big mouth and an idiot. But yeah, don’t let this spoil your day. Better to tell them to mind their own business.

Jade520 · 22/03/2025 19:23

Yes it was just plain rude to announce it to the world like that.

MizzThang · 23/03/2025 13:08

You’ve left out too many details for this to be someone else’s fault alone.

Well who knows, apart from the OP who couldn't be arsed to tell us 😬🤣

She did tell us. The coat was on the back of her chair. Colleague who is noted for this kind of thing looks at the label, announces the size to the rest of the room, with the comment that it would fit her mum. What’s that if not being an arsehole ?

Not really unless you’ve cleared 6 foot.

Someone else made a reference to a size 14. I replied. Everyone else got offended.

Exactly as you intended. 🙄

Sorry for not including much detail, I was rushing about a bit (tempted to say I was shoving food into my size 22 mouth …) It was just that though, my coat was on the back of my seat and my colleague said ‘size 22, wow, that would fit my mum!’

It is a colleague who is famed for putting her foot in her mouth so I probably wouldn’t be bothered if it hadn’t been so public!

Perhaps you should say something like ‘oh, clearly size is important to you, then are you not worried about your own genetics?’
