Bit embarrassing … or am I being over sensitive?

OP posts:

Except it isn't. Just to bitchy people looking to fatshame someone.

Except it is. And it’s only bitchy if you’re applying negative associations with being overweight.

Ritzybitzy · 15/03/2025 21:18

No. Your kind of thinking is what causes disordered eating and a nationwide obesity problem. 14 is very rarely anything that other than overweight.

Ah...I think that I've seen your posts elsewhere, being needlessly provocative. I shan't bother to respond further.

How dare you.

I had to do a second take at your post!

Spirallingdownwards · 15/03/2025 21:15

The original poster was fatshamed by a horrible colleague. You likewise are fatshaming people for being a size 14 which is 4 sizes smaller than OP when size 14 is not a large size and doesn't become one just because you keep saying it is.

All I’ve said is that being a size 14 indicates you’re likely overweight. I’ve actually said nothing negative. That’s your connection not mine.

Except it isn't. And you are making negative assertions about it being large and therefore people that size are overweight. So I am glad you accept you are making bitchy remarks - just like the OP's delightful colleague.

Notonthestairs · 15/03/2025 21:23

It was intended as a pejorative comment.

It doesn’t matter whether the size is obvious or not - absolutely no need to comment on a colleagues figure. Unprofessional.

The Op shouldn’t feel embarrassed.

People who are a size 14 are likely large and likely overweight. Just like those who are a size 0 are likely thin and underweight. It is what it is.

This I agree with. It wasn’t appropriate. It was also bloody weird.

And you are what you are - plain and simple for all to see.

She's a fucking cow bag. You know it. We know it. She even knows it. Steer as clear as you can and I would also report it to your manager. She had no right to do that to you and it is 100% bullying behaviour. Whether she is known for putting her foot in it or not is irrelevant. She needs to learn what is acceptable behaviour in an office and what isn't!

Indeed you are. I never said otherwise.

Bitofanchange · 15/03/2025 21:28

Ritzybitzy · 15/03/2025 20:02

A UK 14 is a US 18.

Are you drunk? Or just silly?

You’ve got it all wrong!

BeaLola · 15/03/2025 19:53

Could be worse OP, I was at work the other week and a colleague commented on the dress that I was wearing and saying how nice she thought I looked in iit and how much she liked it , where was it from .. I duly answered only for one of my other colleagues to say very loudly " really I thought they only went up to a 22 ".... xx

I’ll give you an alibi, DM me.

pimplebum · 15/03/2025 21:30

Why is being a size x embarrassing? Can we stop this sexist sizist shite !
you wouldn’t be embarrassed if someone shouted out your shoe size or ring size

be part of the solution not part of the problem

“ yoohoo ! Yep that’s my cost ! Thank you darling I love that coat”

Are you drinking? You’ve come across very silly and I’d say inebriated on your posts

Where have I said anywhere that height is nothing to do with body sizing? Please don’t try to undermine with blatant lying.

Blatant lying!! -thats you!

LiveinHarmony · Today 20:22
Well height makes a different as well obviously.

Ritzybitzy · Today 20:32
Not really unless you’ve cleared 6 foot

DollydaydreamTheThird · 15/03/2025 21:34

Ritzybitzy · 15/03/2025 20:14

Regardless UK 14 still large.

Is it fuck! The average size in the UK is a 16.

Er.., try again… not really unless you’ve cleared 6 foot. A disclaimer that height doesn’t indeed impact, but in the case of a size 14 unless you’ve cleared 6 foot you’re still likely overweight. That does not say height is irrelevant. Quite the opposite.

The average adult is overweight 😂😂

Really rude and inappropriate.
Body shaming you in front of colleagues?
Report her to HR.
She deserves to be officially warned to STFU.

I wish people wouldn’t say ‘report to HR’

Managers are there to manage and would deal with a situation like this (that is exactly what a manager is paid for). If the manager is not sure of the process of dealing with a situation like this, then they ask HR for advice and guidance. HR are not there to ‘manage’ people - that’s what managers do.

Where do you get this data from?

The average adult knows the difference between US sizes and UK sizes.

🤷‍♀️

aliasname · 15/03/2025 21:39

Ritzybitzy is clearly confused about UK sizing, as it’s obvious from their post about ‘size 0’ which we don’t have here.

a size 14 would be an American/Canadian size 10.

Ritzybitzy · 15/03/2025 21:40

MyLimeGuide · 15/03/2025 21:37

Look it up. The dimensions of a size 14 are consistent with the two key measures for being overweight. Waist size and bmi. There will be an exception for very tall women but that’s not the norm so it’s tedious factor to bring into it. It’s like saying size 4 isn’t thin because some women are 4’10.

Is that UK or US 14?
