New boyfriend won't dine out. Ever.

I've started seeing someone. He told me yesterday that he doesn't like dining out. Ever.

He would rather I cook or he cooks and if the relationship continues will apparently never go out for brunch or lunch or dinner with me.

I could of course dine out with friends without him. He would not come for example to any meal with friends he was invited to.

His reason is he is vegan and he says he doesn't trust chefs not to contaminate his food.

I honestly feel like saying I cannot see this relationship going anywhere.

Think of the future

You get pregnant and want a midwife and to go to hospital.

How is he going to deal with that

There is no future with someone like this unless you are a fellow believer

Whether he's depressed, an alcoholic, autistic, schizophrenic or any of the other terms people have mentioned is irrelevant. You want to spend your life with someone who is happy and wants to enjoy things and you've already made that step by telling him it is over. Don't be sad OP be happy you didn't waste 10 years of your life on him like some of us have done in the past. Never get with someone who needs 'fixing'. I learnt the hard way. I for one am over the moon for you. Go forth and prosper young one!

There are tonnes of vegan restaurants. And quite a few non-vegan chains that take allergies and dietary requirements very seriously. I wonder if he's saying it's about contamination when really it's about anxiety or being picky or something.

Regardless it doesn't matter, you shouldn't continue to date anyone who you're put off by, whatever the reason.
