I remember Captain Tom being interviewed, refering to 'blondes' and talking about his first marriage. I found it all rather distasteful.

I mentioned this charming aspect of Captain Tom pages ago. He made awful remarks about his first wife and showed exactly who and what he was.

I remember when .he was first featured on breakfast TV doing his stroll I thought he was on the grounds of his care home I didn't realise it was an actual house!

One of his grandsons popped up on a TV dating show and obviously just happened to mention who his granddad was. So I would think they're all on the grift.

I thought exactly the same. Didn't he have carers in uniform in the background?

But… this doesn’t explain why Captain Tom’s book, had a line in the prologue where he said “with the offer to write this memoir I have also been given the chance to raise even more money for the charitable foundation now established in my name”.
Wow I didn't realise that was in the foreword. She doesn't have a leg to stand on if that's the case. She is barefaced lying ( as if that wasn't obvious) that her father wanted them to benefit from the book. Either she has lied about what he wanted or he has said he wanted the proceeds of the book to go to charity in order to help sell the book then told her on his deathbed to take the money!

I don't sympathise with her at all. She is a taker, and one with a brass neck.

I’m not surprised by anything I hear about this lady. I doubt very much that her father was quite the angel everyone seemed to think he was either. Old , posh,white man goes for a walk is hardly worthy of the hype he received. There are better people in this world going about their lives under the radar of the media.
How much difference did the millions raised actually make to the NHS? It probably disappeared into a black hole along with the rest of the millions wasted annually.

That woman has absolutely no shame.

She was absolutely GLEEFUL at the attention her decrepit father got for his forced marches around the garden, and has milked every single penny off his name ever since.

It's delightful to see her bought down a peg or two.

But it exists because she puts herself in front of people to be kicked, to be fair. She's not the only one, sure, or even the only one in this particular instance, but she is the one currently choosing to appear on GMB and trying to sell her own books.

Unfortunately it's seldom the worst grifters and charlatans that get the biggest public kickings because the worst grifters and charlatans know when to get their heads down and keep quiet. The worst charlatans and grifters are often the best at not getting caught in the first place.

It's the chancers like this woman who makes the mistake of thinking they can use the media to their advantage without the trial-by-media consequences. If you are going to play that game, you have to be very good at it. She isn't.

I agree, she certainly has seemed quite out of her depth when I've seen her interviewed. I think, after this venture, she will bow out of the public gaze and I hope the media then leaves her alone. It's not just her who is affected, she has family. Sometimes a line has to be drawn.

If I was her I'd change my name and move house, have my hair cut differently and wear glasses.

Now I've said that I quite fancy reinventing myself. Any tips appreciated :).

No one has to agree to going on tv. She's seeking publicity. She could have disappeared quietly. Instead she upsets everyone via the spa debacle and having the CharitiesCommission find against her. She's foolish. You cannot profit from a charity you set up and expect to get away with it. The CC report last Nov sets out the issues and findings.

Am I the only one reading the particulars of the house on Rightmove - especially about all of the magnificent history and the period features - and then being thoroughly underwhelmed on looking at the interior photos?
