I'm shocked and don't know what to say.
My friend of thirty plus years moved in with a new partner last year.
She had few options due to three divorces and very few savings.
I've met the chap once, he seemed OK but over handy for my liking. Both her adult daughters have said they don't like him. I thought it was an age and class thing (he's 27 years younger).
It turns out he is an admirer of Hitler and Trump.
I said to my friend well he won't be invited to dinner here. He apparently made the statements at a family party last week. The daughters quite rightly walked out. I'm disabled, my husband not white. My uncles POW. I can't believe she's with him. She was very lonely. Aibu to be shocked or none of my business?

Both. It's not your business but I'd be shocked.

Although for me it would depend on his behaviour more than his views. He's entitled to whatever opinion he likes, (however stupid or offensive they are) he's not allowed to terrorise people over them.

I'd be taking the approach of keeping my opinion to myself as long as he's doing the same

I detest Trump too, but let's be accurate. He certainly didn't recommend injecting bleach. I knew what he meant - bleach kills HIV and cancer cells, so probably could have killed Covid, too. I suspect he meant it's a pity that there's no drug based on whatever's in it that could be the foundation of a treatment. Just like current chemos are based on some pretty harsh chemicals. Bleach kills so much that it is indeed a pity that we haven't harnessed the vital molecule(s) into treatments that can be used safely.

He certainly didn't mean that people should drink or inject bleach! I'm firmly left-wing but I knew what he meant.

Hitler didn’t come to power and then immediately start gassing people.

You can compare the early stages of this Trump presidency with the early stages of Hitler’s.

• He has all of the major social media tycoons in his pocket, they were tripping over themselves to be seen at the inauguration.
• I don’t have to explain MAGA.
• He will “get Greenland for America one way or another”. He has said many times Canada should become another state. He wants to take over the Panama Canal.
• Allies with fascists - remains to be seen.

One invaded other countries, one talks about taking over other counties, and one is defending his country. (Elections are notoriously difficult to hold during live battles!)

If she's a long term friend, I would be very worried for her! Especially if he is influencing her to not see you. I can understand why you wouldn't want anything to do with him. I'm also disabled and have two children who are neurodiverse, so I get your reservations.
