A bit lighthearted but I am trying to declutter the kitchen worktops. I currently have a bread bin, on the worktop but I want rid.
If you don't have a bread bin where do you put the bread?

YABU - keep the bread bin on the worktop
YANBU - get rid they went with the ark. Bread is.....

In the freezer. Otherwise every loaf would be wasted.

Guavafish1 · 05/03/2025 23:49

Fridge

Chasingsquirrels · 05/03/2025 23:51

Bottom shelf of wall cupboard, above the toaster & fridge.

Needspaceforlego · 05/03/2025 23:51

That's where it was when I lived alone.
Having kids i though I should do the grown-up thing and have a bread bin.
But 90% of the time we make toast maybe I should go back to freezer

In the cupboard.

notprincehamlet · 05/03/2025 23:52

I walk round with it clutched to my chest

YamsVsEggplants · 05/03/2025 23:52

On top of the toaster.

Meadowfinch · 05/03/2025 23:53

In a bread bin on my work surface. I dislike cold bread so it's not going in the fridge.

Fridge

I'm not an expert but I was told off by DH's Environmental Health pal for keeping bread in the fridge. Something about the humidity levels causing mould.

In a cupboard.

Needspaceforlego · 05/03/2025 23:55

If it's in a cupboard is it just in the bag or in a box or storage jar?

Hung from a hook in the larder in a cloth bag (bread inside is in the wrapper it came in)

Bread is consumed once a week roughly in this house and always as toast/toastie. If no one regularly eats sandwiches in yours, the freezer is the best place.

Bread goes stale in the fridge as the starch crystallises rapidly in the cold.

TrashPanda · 06/03/2025 00:05

Bottom shelf of the wall cupboard above the worktop where the toaster and kettle sit. It's just in the bag it came in and lives with all the other bready type stuff and the jars for tea bags/coffe/sugar

Mellap · 06/03/2025 00:10

Putting bread in the fridge makes it go stale quicker (look it up). We should either keep it at room temperature or in the freezer.

I keep mind in a bread bag by the toaster.

I just put it on the counter (the bread). I used to have a bread bin but either the bread was never put in it or I'd find a mouldy loaf that I'd forgotten about ..

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 06/03/2025 02:27

In the microwave..

yikesanotherbooboo · 06/03/2025 03:16

Fresh loaf on bread board , all the rest in the freezer

mathanxiety · 06/03/2025 04:54

In a bag in a storage jar on the counter. The fridge dries it out too much and so does the freezer.

PearTreeBoat · 06/03/2025 05:01

Mine actually lives on top of my bread bin! For some reason I've started keeping the onions and potatoes in the bread bin, so the bread has had to move out.

autisticbookworm · 06/03/2025 06:01

In a bread bin in the cupboard.
