To suspect the "deal" between the US and Russia Greenland for Ukraine?

FancyRedRobin · 05/03/2025 09:02

The way things are shaping up I'm beginning to think the USAs negotiations with Putin were for USA to stand aside and let Putin have part of Ukraine and for Russia to support the US to take Greenland.

at the moment but if or when that changes then what

Canada have already increased their military presence along the Russian border and are working with Nordic nations on this. We’re not defenceless.

true but is there any chance you could win on your own ?

Have you missed that Trump wants the Panama Canal?

I think everyone realises that the US will only come to the aid of the US. They can hardly be classed as an ally when they are threatening in turn us into the 51st state.

true but without their militiary to assist, then canada could just as easily fall to russia if they chose to invade

as for the canal is because the general view is now china is controling the canal considering its ment to be Panama govt themselves

Trump thinks China is controlling the canal which Panama have confirmed is not correct.

Trump has no rights to Panama, Canada or Greenland. To take by force would be an act of war - Canada and Greenland have protection through NATO.

Russia are more likely to go to Alaska than the Canadian Northern Territories. Russia has issues with the US rather than Canada.

Verdansk84 · 15/03/2025 12:03

personally we need a one world govt, there there would be better focus on the galaxies rather than fighting each other

Will never happen - countries have different objectives. Where there is alignment we already have treaties and agreements

Back to seriouos matters

Starmer is now hosting a virtual summit of world leaders to discuss the situation in Ukraine. So far Macron, Carney, Zelenskyy and Rutte have spoken.

It may be a general view in the circles of people who want to believe it, but it's not the case.

Canada will never be the 51st state, at least not by legal means. They’re a Constitutional Monarchy, not a Republic. There would have to be a referendum for it to be legal, and I really don’t see a majority of Canadians voting to become a US state. (I’ve no idea whether there’s a strong movement supporting Canada becoming a Republic in its own right.)

There isn't. The current system is anachronistic but Canadians are t overly concerned about it. Canadians are typically pretty small c conservative and don't push for change that isn't needed. E.g. becoming American!

so what does russia get to keep the peace ?

Why would Russia get anything? They started the war and by keeping the peace, Russian troops will no longer be killed.

Putin has taken quite enough, nothing needed. Maybe he could show an ounce of remorse for starters. Deliberately bombing maternity hospitals, and killing women and children, a long with torturing innocent survillians that have been taken as prisoners of war. Maybe Russia should stop being dictators, and realise that they don't own the world. Peace should be a given, not a bargaining chip.

Read about Putin's horrendous childhood; there is a huge psychological link there, similar to Hitler and Stalin.

Verdansk84 · 15/03/2025 15:16

realistically putin will want something otherwise he may as well keep at war its the rest that want peace so ??

true, unless he uses nukes

Llttledrummergirl · 15/03/2025 16:50

He won't use nukes. They are likely to blow up in the silos if they are as badly maintained as everything else.

Wah wah nukes is brought out everytime he has a red line everyone ignores.

HangryLilacGoose · 15/03/2025 17:35

How much is this proposed One World Government based on the perceived need for a united Earth in the event that we "reach the stars" and need to deal with alien civilizations?

Because that, realistically, is never going to happen.
