Most Americans don’t get their news from CNN, which has a sordid history as being a mouth piece of the military industrial complex and CIA war mongering,
The problem is that elsewhere, in the 'non-legacy media', which means YouTube, Meta, TikTok or X, the news is spread by influencers. There's a reason they're called that - if you didn't trust established journalists in mainstream papers and broadcasters, why would you trust more anyone with a loud voice and a following? No chance they might serve an agenda perhaps? I subscribe to a number of podcasts created by journalists and former politicians on YouTube so I'm not against the new media landscape per se, but I am very worried that the very notion of journalism which traditionally rested on the notion of ethics and integrity has gone out of the window in favour of 'straight-talking' BS (read: simplistic, manipulative, loud, conspiratorial, click-baity shite)... which more often than not is financed by shady interests without any transparency or accountability. So, if you thought CNN was bad, I'd suggest you stay away from any form of 'news' entirely.
