Middle-aged professional women doing drugs on the weekend

Is this common now? I was invited to a house party Saturday night and snow was being done quite openly, there were also Mary Jane vapes and Ecstasy passed around.

These were mainly mothers with adult grown sensible families. What is going on, am I totally not with it?

Was it always this way or is this scene infiltrating a different demographic now?

We always knew people like this did this, but was it this open and accepted?

I didn’t partake, still a great night.

OP it was a house party, it's exactly the right environment (at the right part of the week) for middle aged people to get wasted around other middle aged people without judgement.
What happens at the other house parties you've been to?

We eat cake and drink tea then drive home sober.
Drugs are not my bag, fortunately my friends either feel the same or respect me enough not to share. Probably why I don't have many friends lol.

I have been around people who have done this in my adult life for about 15 years. I think it's all good as long as there no children around - I've never participated if people have told me their children are in bed - that's ridiculous - I once had a couple turn up to my house and say "I've left my 11 year old babysitting her 5 year old sister" and I told them to go home - I mean what were they thinking?

I think the most important thing is that you are around good people and there are no safe guarding issues in relation to children and pets for that matter - and also not doing it during the week!
if you have no kids - work hard / play hard

If you are not used being around this - it can be a shock though. My husband is 50 and I am 37 - we are having a dinner party this weekend and we have "snow" for pudding 🙌🤩

Propping up organised crime is nothing to be proud of

Beebeedoo · 04/03/2025 21:53

Never encountered this at a party tbh, snow? thats what they called it in Peaky Blinders!

Both of my sons work in security to make extra money. They tell me that the majority of cocaine users who they catch are middle aged.

Really. Wow. You must be proud of the "security" work they do. I don't believe you. Cocaine catchers.. How silly.

Darls3000 · 04/03/2025 22:05

Was at a dinner party couple of weeks ago that was a no food, only liquid shrooms party. Yep. Bonkers. Everyone was dancing for 6 hours straight. Mad.

NewMarmiteJar · 04/03/2025 22:07

@Darls3000 how old were these people?

Brigitte33 · 04/03/2025 22:12

You weren't asked or forced to partake so why do you care ?
Just let people unwind and enjoy in whichever way they are accustomed too and stop judging.

KatsWhiskas · 04/03/2025 22:16

What IS a Mary Jane vape though, please??

You do realise there is a middle ground to doing drugs or drinking tea at a party/get together. I wouldn't want to do either. I'm not a druggy or 89 years old.

Zodiaclibra · 04/03/2025 22:30

I don’t think the majority of middle age people are taking drugs. I’d wonder why people were desperate to re live their 20s if my friends started doing it.

It’s as sad and cliched as buying a sports car or having an affair with your PA

JudithOx · 04/03/2025 23:19

You need some new friends! Middle-aged and doing drugs ... Yuck.

That’s horribly ageist. You either dislike people doing drugs irrespective of age or not. Do you have opinions on what else Middle aged people should and should not be doing?

teledays · 04/03/2025 23:40

I’d rather be around people on ecstasy than those on 3 glasses of wine . Middle aged middle class drinkers are Insufferable bores, at least MDMA might give them a bit of personality.

Very true. I dislike people who do drugs at any age. I hate drugs, actually, and have never done them myself. I would not like to be around anyone who does them regardless of age. I feel sorry for young people doing drugs, but I think if you're still doing them in middle age, it's pathetic. I'm sorry if this offends you.

Heavy drinking and drugs are equally bad. Alcohol is just another drug, after all.

Snookerfan · 02/03/2025 23:05

3 in one sitting is rather excessive, I don’t believe the svelte figures would last that long caning it each weekend like that.

OMG where have you been? If you mean 3 large glasses (250 ml) that would be a bottle of wine - quite a lot if you are sitting watching telly, but not excessive for a party

JudithOx · 05/03/2025 00:34

TheIceBear · 03/03/2025 21:55

I disagree with that as a general statement. Some drugs are worse than others. Alcohol is a drug. And a very harmful drug at that.

Absolutely. I agree. Alcohol destroys families and ruins lives. It should be listed with any other drug, as such.

yer but, wine is soooo nice🤪

PickledKT · 05/03/2025 02:07

I can resist everything but temptation 🥴🥴🥴

Musknet · 05/03/2025 03:43

If alcohol had been discovered in the West only within the last 500 years, I expect it would be a banned substance. We have lived with it for thousands of years to an extent greater than any other drug.

A house party is not drinking tea and eating cake, that's afternoon tea in the evening or a few people eating cake and drinking tea in the same room, As happens when visiting family.

Dancingatthepinkponyclub · 05/03/2025 07:28

With some of my friends it happens!

House parties we all drink and vape. Kids around primary age.

They tell me when they go to others houses they get out coke sometimes when kids are in bed! Late 30’s early 40’s middle class.

I don’t partake in the coke! Would smoke weed now and then but not at a party as it would make me tired!

Familysquabbles23 · 05/03/2025 07:38

Believe me,the saddest thing I see is 60yr old coke addicts arriving in ED. It's not a good look.

Stick to tea, great anytime, not just for afternoons 😃.

This is a genuine question. Does the supply chain really not bother you? Have you read about county lines? It's about one step removed from whoever you buy your coke from. I'd be really interested about your thoughts on it.
