How are you preparing for war?

I believe we will be personally and bodily at risk in the course of 2025

I live in a flat in the centre of a major city. I think there are pros and cons to this in a war situation. Inability to stockpile is a big one.

What are you doing (large or small)?

I'm currently buying a flat in London. Feel like bailing and buying a bunker in the west of Ireland instead.

The world is a fucking scary place.

BubblePerm · 28/02/2025 21:46

If it's nuclear, I'm going to hold hands with my family and walk out into the fall out.
Otherwise, I'll probably be co-opted into it by work (public sector- non military).

Millymoonshine · 28/02/2025 21:46

Currently live in rural France.
I was wondering the other day if I’m safer here in mainland Europe or back in the UK.

Adamante · 28/02/2025 21:47

Nothing.

What a ridiculous, scare mongering thread 🙄

BubblePerm · 28/02/2025 21:48

I'll also be hiding my children, one of whom is a young male, adult, the other, a 17 year old teenager.

Laserwho · 28/02/2025 21:49

Getting on with life and not worrying

NuffSaidSam · 28/02/2025 21:49

Head in the sand.
Fingers in ears.
Enjoy the here and now.

(Occasionally wonder if my friend in the countryside would take me in if I needed to get out of London).

Yep! Absolutely fuck all. Stop watching the news and enjoy your life

sandrapinchedmysandwich · 28/02/2025 21:50

You do know there is a preppers area on here? This should not be in aibu as it's just scaremongering

Semaphore · 28/02/2025 21:50

What a drama llama

sevenIsNewEight · 28/02/2025 21:51

Sending money to Ukrainian defence.

As cynical as it may be, the longer they fight, the longer we don't have to.

JustMeHello · 28/02/2025 21:52

What on earth is the point? Unless you're part of the armed forces, there is absolutely nothing you can do, living in the UK, to 'prepare' for a war. If there is another major war, it's not going to be like the London Blitz. Just crack on with living.

sparrowflewdown · 28/02/2025 21:58

I do worry as where I live would be one of the first places to be hit.

An unpopular view but I hope Starmer keeps out of this now.

We haven't had one of these threads for ages. They were very in vogue during the Feb/March of 2022.

StepAwayFromGoogling · 28/02/2025 21:59

Good lord, have all the crazies come out tonight?! Have a cuppa and read a book, OP.

ChocolatesAndRainbows · 28/02/2025 22:00

Nothing 😆

Abouttoblow · 28/02/2025 22:00

How ridiculous.
If a war starts it will involve nuclear weapons and that will be it.
You can't prepare for it, you can't avoid it and you can't survive it.
Live your life.

Doggymummar · 28/02/2025 22:00

What are you talking about. Take your nonsense to preppers corner

ancientpants · 28/02/2025 22:01

I'm a teacher. I'll still be preparing for Ofsted and delivering remote lessons from a fall out shelter. Parents will complain that I'm traumatising their children with my irradiated face.

SkyOfficer · 28/02/2025 22:01

I'd doing some painting, buy some new clothes, test drive a Porsche, maybe try oysters for the first time.

pinkroses79 · 28/02/2025 22:02

I'm not doing anything, I don't think there is anything I could do anyway. It's not something I dwell on.

Mainland Europe would be safer I guess. We are a fucking island won't be able to escape.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 28/02/2025 22:03

I'm prepared by laying in bed with not one but TWO penguin biscuits and a glass of water.

I am READY.

LuluBlakey1 · 28/02/2025 22:04

Nothing. No point.

Don't bother with oysters lol. It's basically snot
