How are you preparing for war?

I believe we will be personally and bodily at risk in the course of 2025

I live in a flat in the centre of a major city. I think there are pros and cons to this in a war situation. Inability to stockpile is a big one.

What are you doing (large or small)?

OP posts:

Importing Kalashnikovs

AquaPeer · 28/02/2025 22:18

Although these posts are cringe and drama llama I also think they’re distasteful due to their extreme self obsession and the trying to insert self into a conflict that this far has zero to do with the UK. Feel terrible for Ukraine, yes, maybe even Poland and Romania, Slovakia. But to make it about you, in the uk? Get over yourself

Maximusdecimus · 28/02/2025 22:18

Op there are people on here who either have or live with people with absolutely overwhelming anxiety about this.

My own daughter a couple of years ago was stockpiling pills as she was becoming so overwhelmed. What helped was a very kind individual on here somewhere that had a relative in defence who managed to write a post that I could show her just about calming her down. I had to keep an eye on her for months, if this flares up again so will she. So for now I’m trying to keep her unaware and safe from herself.

Nothing.

What a ridiculous, scare mongering thread 🙄

Exactly this . The hysteria around a spat is ridiculous.

HRTQueen · 28/02/2025 22:19

are you in the Ukraine or close by

if not stop jumping on their misery bandwagon

Dymaxion · 28/02/2025 22:19

Ive got a fishing rod and a gun, and I have stockpiled food in my body, so be nice to the fat menopausal women or else Grin

OneAquaFatball · 28/02/2025 22:19

some people on here are living one or have families that are. so prepare by making the most of everything whilst you can and not worrying til you have to

sweeneytoddsrazor · 28/02/2025 22:20

Head to The Winchester have a nice cold pint.

Bonjovispyjamas · 28/02/2025 22:21

Wackadaywideawake · 28/02/2025 22:12

I bought an expensive bottle of red tonight. None of this £5.99 shit.

Edited

I like your thinking!

lifeonmars100 · 28/02/2025 22:23

Drinking and not worrying about calories and health eating, it will all be pointless when the nuclear blast kills me

Cattery · 28/02/2025 22:24

I’m planning to watch BGT tomoz night. Let the good times roll 🤣

Rainbow1235 · 28/02/2025 22:24

Yes exactly. If I was Estonian or even Polish I'd be more worried. We are bloody lucky we live in the UK for lots of reasons. Russia couldn't even take Kyiv after all or many other large swathes of Ukraine. We keep it like that by upping our defence spending and supporting Ukraine so they don't think it's plausible to take other bits of Eastern Europe.

Stai · 28/02/2025 22:25

Might start having a second glass of wine with my lunch!

ApocalypseNowt · 28/02/2025 22:27

I might try and do a sit up tomorrow.

How ridiculous.
If a war starts it will involve nuclear weapons and that will be it.
You can't prepare for it, you can't avoid it and you can't survive it.
Live your life.

Ukraine has been at war for 3 years.

There are wars all the time, everywhere.

Doesn't mean nukes will get used.

MrsCobbit · 28/02/2025 22:28

What nonsense.

But we're part of an alliance that means if these countries were attacked we WOULD be directly involved

OneLemonDog · 28/02/2025 22:29

It'll be a few years. Russia needs a bit of time to regroup and reenforce, I think.

Totally

YourAzureEagle · 28/02/2025 22:30

I have a ratemeter in current calibration for my work, in essence, in the unlikely event of a nuclear war it and the understanding of its readings is the only thing that would be immediately useful in assessing what action to take.

Lentilweaver · 28/02/2025 22:31

I live in a flat too so I guess I am fucked
These kinds of threads are really annoying, because I already think MN has a ridiculous level of anxiety.
Stop watching the news, honestly.

Making a crop circle in a field near you.
Maybe the aliens can save us?
