How are you preparing for war?

I believe we will be personally and bodily at risk in the course of 2025

I live in a flat in the centre of a major city. I think there are pros and cons to this in a war situation. Inability to stockpile is a big one.

What are you doing (large or small)?

Threads like these have been around for a long time. I cant afford a bunker with the sort of air and water filters and recycling that you'd need to have any hope of surviving a nuclear war and the nuclear winter that would follow it. I dont have easy access to the sort of drugs that would end life painlessly either. So I guess all I can do is stock up on some painkillers and alcohol - and stop worrying about the future and live for today.

Trump is putting his cronies into positions of power in America. He has every intention of being a dictator until his death and then some other republican will replace him.

BatchCookBabe · 28/02/2025 22:32

What war?! This is the second thread I have seen now tonight like this.

We are not going to war FFS!

Scaremongering nonsense!

I'm a teacher. I'll still be preparing for Ofsted and delivering remote lessons from a fall out shelter. Parents will complain that I'm traumatising their children with my irradiated face.

Hahaha needed that laugh tonight.

Adamante · 28/02/2025 21:47

Nothing.

What a ridiculous, scare mongering thread 🙄

This. And if we were to go to war your stockpile would be seized and distributed under emergency powers .

I'm prepared by laying in bed with not one but TWO penguin biscuits and a glass of water.

I am READY.

Swap the water for wine. Then you’re ready.

overthinkersanonnymus · 28/02/2025 22:34

Thank god we have thousands of fighting aged men that have arrived in the last few years.

TheWombatleague · 28/02/2025 22:35

It's going to take a couple of years for Russia to re-equip, assuming the USA doesn't sell them the equipment. In November 2026 USA has mid-term elections, all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress. Thirty-nine state and territorial U.S. gubernatorial elections, as well as numerous state and local elections, will also be contested.

Things will likely be a lot trickier for MAGA by then.

But we're part of an alliance that means if these countries were attacked we WOULD be directly involved

Being directly involved via nato is not the same someone making military strikes against Britain directly via a land invasion or via strikes on British airspace. Obviously.

offmynut · 28/02/2025 22:36

Im going to do nothing and just get on with what i do.
If war happens it happens nothing i can do about it.

Why on earth would you assume that? Of course Trumpety Trump is going to sell baby sell! That's his henchman over there, Big P! He needs to get those bills down for the average Joe in good ol' US of A, see, so raiding EU is now all systems go.

offmynut · 28/02/2025 22:40

Just thought of something why worry us women can handle this we dont need men to fight for us.
Mumsnet hate men time to prove to men we dont need them they should be shipped out with the kids when war starts leave it to us women.

ConstantCringing · 28/02/2025 22:46

What are you going to be doing, OP? Buying bog roll?

MissScarlettInTheBallroomWithALeadPipe · 28/02/2025 22:52

Nada. I've seen When The Wind Blows. It's futile worrying about it or building bunkers.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 28/02/2025 22:20

Head to The Winchester have a nice cold pint.

Just remember not to give yourself away by turning the leccy on and firing up the fruit machine. Rookie error!

TheRedBear · 28/02/2025 23:16

Change my username, which I just realised sounds a tad Russian 😅

Other than that, sun's forecast to be out for the next few days so head out on my bike, maybe watch some rugby, eat nice food, spend time with the family, the usual!

Allthenameshavegone1972 · 28/02/2025 23:39

With a son in the Raf I'm doing nothing & taking no notice of scaremongering, or I'd go insane. Just get on with your life!

dannyufcfan · 28/02/2025 23:41

Fuck all. I won't even give it a second thought.

Endofyear · 28/02/2025 23:45

Absolutely nothing!

wellington77 · 01/03/2025 00:16

Britain has nuclear weapons, there was a Cold War not a hot war for a reason. So no I’m not preparing.

After the American shit show tonight, hardly think it's scaremongering. Tosser Trump doing that for us!

FFS what is the point in worrying if it does break out I will be glad I have not wasted the last few years of my life worrying about it.

also if there is nuclear war I want it to be dropped right on my head. I don’t want to suffer and I don’t want to be one of the few left to prob die of radiation or starvation.

Redspottyfrog · 01/03/2025 00:58

Sorry I copied in the post in my last post by mistake

IzzieadoraDuncan · 01/03/2025 01:05

Preparations for war:

Stockpiling and bottling eggs - hens are on strict orders to lay, lay and lay (shortage in America apparently where 1/2 dozen are currently 14US dollars).

Emailing King Charles for an invite letter to give with the eggs to invading troops looking to plunder our mineral reserves or make us the 51st state.

Getting our yacht ready to sail to Europe (feel infinitely safer there than UK).

Closing my Amazon account so not to be easily traced by Bezos and Musk for my eggs.
