Have to be honest since trump won i wasn't going anyway. But anyone cancelling or going elsewhere?
I have a big birthday this year, I would go to the garbage dump rather than support America,/musk in any way. I know therwmis at least half of America that doesn't.support this shxt and for them I am sorry but for the republicans too spineless and self interested to resist their dictator.trump...not one iota of sympathy for the rising prices loss of Medicaid or medicare.

YABU ..to cancel/Not go
YANBU...wouldn't touch it with a bargepole

You could still come but only support the towns where the majority are as disgusted with you are about what's going on - there's plenty of us, and increasingly more, I suspect.

That's interesting.
Donald Trump won the national popular vote with a plurality of 49.8%.
Who are these people ?
Will any of them be disappointed with DT's and JD Vance's treatment of Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the White House ?

Genuine and hopefully not goady question for those boycotting America - do you the same standards when considering holidays to oppressive regimes like Dubai or UAE, or countries in Europe with far right Parties in charge like Hungary, Italy or the Czech Republic?

Yes? Never been to dubai and nor do I plan to. Likewise never been to Russia. It's not appealing visiting a country where you so wholly disagree with a lot of their ideology and culture?

deademptyduck · 28/02/2025 22:54

We have booked and paid for a trip to visit family later this year. If it wasn't paid for in full I wouldn't be going. It is at least a democrat area which is something.

Whattttd · 28/02/2025 22:58

I won’t go during Trump’s time. We have family and close friends there, but I won’t go and see them in the next four years. I haven’t explicitly told them that, but I won’t be going. Not because I’m scared something will happen while I’m there, but because Trump et al are disgusting.

Agree - I also won’t go to these places.

No, because our government isn't awful.

Objectively the worst government in living memory if not of all time. They are beyond dreadful. Bigoted, incompetent and woefully out of their depth. I genuinely didn’t think it was possible for us to end up with a government as bad as this.

TheDevilWearPrimarni · 28/02/2025 22:59

Hamilton6382 · 28/02/2025 21:35

Do you think people are also cancelling trips to the UK now that we have such an awful government?

Well our current government couldn't be worse than the ones during the previous 14 years of incompetence, lying and manipulation.

Err...excuse me? Were you living under a rock when Truss was PM?

Saturdaynightlive · 28/02/2025 23:01

You can't write a country off. Here in Washington state ( blue state), things are calm, friendly, and beautiful as ever.

TheDevilWearPrimarni · 28/02/2025 23:03

@Hamilton6382
You must amnesia from May 2010-July 2024 then.
The Tories were a useless lying, incompetent bunch of Cs.

FindusMakesPancakes · 28/02/2025 23:04

I am meant to be going for work shortly. Trying to find a legitimate reason not to go that my manager will accept.

Washington State is one of the most beautiful places in the world! I love it there. I will be back to visit when Trump is gone.

Travel broadens the mind. I’ve been to Russia a few times and glad that I did. You get a far better perspective of the world if you experience it first hand rather than just listening to what the media tell you.

Oh, come on! A second's thought would give you a very obvious answer. It's hardly a secret that some parts of the country are very pro-Trump, though his popularity seems to be dropping with every passing day, and other parts of the country, including where I live, absolutely cannot stand the man.

At least there was the option of getting shot of her...America is stuck with this corpulent a-hole for the next 4 years.

Not even close to being in the same ballpark as the current duplicitous rabble of woefully adequate individuals currently in government who appear hell bent on destroying the country. History will not be kind to them. I doubt we’ll see them for at least another generation after 2029.

Nope. Off to San Antonio in may(holiday)St augustine in July(work), Scottsdale and fort worth (both work) in September and SLC(holidsy) in December. Looking forward to all.

Same here, only to NY.

They are so much worse. The damage they are causing is on a whole different scale. They feel like the enemy.

Yeah. I know Starmer isn't popular, but the guy isn't deliberately hollowing out the entire social fabric of the country, and shitting all over international diplomacy. And yeah, mechanisms were in place to ditch Truss as soon as it became clear how useless she was.

Trump is a serious danger to the entire world and needs removing from office immediately.

Who is paying you to write this garbage?

ThereTheirTheyreYourYoureToTooLEARNTHEM · 28/02/2025 23:16

I voted YANBU and I’m an American. I’d love to run far, far away from the madness. No way would I be running towards it.

Yetanothernewname101 · 28/02/2025 23:21

We were looking to go the last time he was in but didn't. We're not going while he's in charge this time!
There's too much anti-lgbt rhetoric and the latest actions against DEI and steamrollering it into oblivion makes me very wary. Chances are I wouldn't get into the country in the first place because of my job which is in that field and my profile.
