Come on people, I know there are thrill seekers out there, people like to shock etc I get all that, and that's totally fine. But for fucks sake, it's her nose, it's gone, don't we need a nose ? Isn't that why we all have one ?! The nose along with the black eyeballs is plain creepy.
Sorry if that makes me horrible, or unfeminist but it's true. I would be gutted if my kids did that to themselves. And yes as a pp said, imagine waking up to that in the night standing by your bed 😳

And I do agree people shouldn't be allowed to do this, because it definitely could be an MH issue and something the person will regret.

And I do feel the same about "transitioning" surgery too.

Why do any of us choose anything that changes how we look? Usually because we like the look of it. I have piercings because I like them. I had them done for me. They make me feel good when I look in the mirror.

As what she has done is permanent, then I guess she likes how she looks. It doesn't need to be any more than that, it can be reason enough.

Edited

Nope, no way is it simply just because she likes the way it looks.

Someone mentally sound could never choose to do this to themselves. If someone does choose to do this, they aren't mentally sound. Fact.

Sorry but you don't get to have the last word on what makes someone mentally sound.

I can't open the link. Are they permanent tattoos or just a kind of henna thing?

in the article, does it say why she has done it?

Clearly it’s permanent. It’s nose??

PandoraSox · 24/02/2025 21:40

A chap called Oscar Marquez is the person who does her "modifications" apparently. I had a Google. There are some interesting pictures, shall we say.

I agree. It’s ridiculous.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 24/02/2025 21:41

No, that's your opinion. Not fact. Unless you're her psychiatrist.

In fact, if you want to open a can of worms, you have just suggested that various indigenous people with long histories of body modification and tattoos etc are and always have been mentally unsound, which is patronising and very colonial. Would you like to rethink your assertion?

Her nose is surely going to bring her some serious health problems in later life or maybe even now (I do tend to look through the lens of a menopausal woman).

I have questions:

Does she remove bogies so people cant see or leave them on view?

If she runs do flies go in there? It looks a bit unavoidable and I’ve dealt with a fly up the nose when running.

Is her sense of smell better or worse?

What does having a heavy cold look like?

🤣🤣🤣

TattooGuineaPig · 24/02/2025 21:44

Tattoos and piercings are absolutely not about "making a statement" most often they are about hiding some version of the self, for myriad reasons, depending on the individual. And in extreme cases it is body dysmorphia and mental illness.

I know plenty of tattoo artists who refuse to work on people's faces. Whoever did this was absolutely unscrupulous, especially whoever cut off the end of her nose. However, she could get rid of many of the tattoos with laser removal and have restorative surgery on her face, to some extent.

I'm not sure I agree with that, as they aren't doing it to shock everyone around them or show how different they are, suggesting they aren't doing it as self-harm or to try to escape from themselves. For them it's a cultural norm just like ear piercing is in the west.

caringcarer · 24/02/2025 21:45

The nose is gruesome.

No-one in this country/Europe/the western world does this, so your whatabouttery is moot - and your 'point' is ludicrous.

JHound · 24/02/2025 21:50

Oh that’s so weird.

The tattoos are one thing, and weird enough.

But to slice of your nose. And what the fuck kind of medical professional would do that?

Ancient Britons tattooed themselves. The upper classes used to get tattoos on their "Grand Tours" in the 19th century. The point I'm making is that you can't judge someone's mental health by what they do to their body simply due to the action and aesthetic. Motivations may indeed vary, but the poster I was responding to made an unfounded and offensive sweeping generalisation, and claimed it was "fact" when it is often anything but.

bertiebump · 24/02/2025 21:44

Why the question marks? Would've thought my message was clear.

Hortus · 24/02/2025 21:52

I wonder what's she's going to look like in her 60s and 70s and whether she'll still love it then.
Mind you, I think that about plenty of women covered in tattoos, huge fake tits etc.

If you say so. Having been the partner of a body piercer of 30 years standing, for 11 years, who was extremely well educated on all aspects historical and anthropological, I think I'm a tiny bit more qualified on the subject.

No different to the inflatable lips and the look of having a peg holding your skin back it is all because of thinking it looks good

It kind of is. Lip filler wears off, as does any other facial filler. Facial tattoos and having her nose sliced off is going to be with her to the grave.

JHound · 24/02/2025 21:55

And eyeball tattoo can be so dangerous. From the before to the after was a mere 4 years. I wonder what she will think of all this in 10 years time.
