But one is the extreme form of the other. Both come from a place of wanting something different to what you have.

TBH I’d rather people use surgery to look different rather than clones of each other.
She knows it’s ugly and that’s why she chose it. Better than the insecure who think their tattoos and work are improve themselves.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 26/02/2025 20:14

I just saw a TikTok of some goats with pool noodles on their horns for ‘safety’ so I take back my ‘neutral’ comment.

Clearly they’re quite ferocious and shabby!

Never fails me to amaze me how some people can shoehorn their contempt of women who get fillers into any random thread!

fillers are like makeup - if done well - they can enhance anyone’s looks.

Do you have fillers? You seem to be taking this very personally. Some people think they look bad which is ok. If you like them and think they look good, why care what others think?

So by the same token a poor girl who has anorexia, it is her choice to look like she does yeah? I’d argue, and it’s the same with this woman, that there is something deeply troubling going on with their mental health and I would prefer them to get professional help.

Fucking hell. Anorexia is a serious mental illness, you absolutely do not 'choose' to have it!

That was somewhat the point - they are not in their right mind to decide what they want to look like 🙄

You're just assuming that the woman isn't in her right mind because you can't understand why anyone would want to look like that.

Basically, yes 🤷🏼‍♀️

I watched a show about similar people to this lady and none of them chose to do this because of their mental health. Not everything is caused by poor mental health 🙄

I hope she never gets a runny nose or bogies.

This is what I keep thinking! I don't know how she would handle a cold or allergy-type symptoms with literally just two holes where her nose should be!

Yeah, they would say that. I'd counter with nobody with great mental health surgical removes their nose and adds horns to their head.

@C36M Oh yes I feel so much better in myself now for sharing this story ! I felt like utter shit before I saw this ladies body mods. Thank you random lady making me feel so much superior to you!

Or maybe I'm human and humans like to talk and open discussions about things they see in the news ?

I think you (and other judgemental people on this page) are just showing how ugly you are on the inside. Which is far worse than being ‘ugly’ on the outside

This cliched reaction makes me wonder what it would actually take for you to say "OK that person shouldn't have done that to themselves and might actually be unwell". Removed their eye and put in a cyborg camera? Had all their limbs removed? Had a hole tunnelled through their torso? Would you still think "it's their body and anyone who has concerns is just ugly on the inside and likes judging how other people look"?

mommyfinger · 27/02/2025 11:37

@C36M And you can think you're right, you're entitled to your opinion afterall. It still doesn't make it true though.

In your opinion.

nahthatsnotforme · 27/02/2025 12:50

Irrespective of the look, the medical risks she has taken must surely be significant.

Im assuming whoever did it wasn't a medical professional without equipment and facilities suitable, never mind expertise.

The face has a complex array of nerves and blood vessels that if damaged cause facial paralysis.. was there any anaesthetic? If so what and how was that managed.

How was any bleeding managed? How was it sutured? How sterile was the procedure? How were any post op complications managed? Infection? Pain relief?

This woman took enormous risks imo.. was she aware of the potential problems?

My mind boggles how anyone could have this done, or do it to someone else.

@HomemadeMuffin

those people who think they look bad probs don’t even know when a lot of people have had them
they think fillers and they think of people who have overfilled
lots of people look much better with them

And? Why do you care? Maybe you can’t tell on some people if it’s done well but equally some people think it looks natural when it doesn’t. It’s no one’s business and no reason for you to take it so personally,

I don’t think it really has anything to do with appearance really. She’s essentially had a working body part removed.

I would think of injecting dye into your eyes or tattoos all over your face in the same way as getting filler or Botox injected into other parts of you. It’s something I’d never do and it amazes me people are willing to take the associated risks just to change their appearance but I accept it’s just personal choice and that plenty of people wouldn’t agree with all my decisions either so up to them.

On the other hand you have your nose for a reason and cutting off a significant portion of it is objectively causing you harm. It’s not that there is a risk to a form of body modification, it’s that you’ve taken away part of your body that has a purpose just to change how you look. I think it absolutely suggests you have some issues with your mental health.

daisychain01 · 02/03/2025 07:02

@whatkatydid2014 it just goes to show the poor levels of understanding about the basics. To say the shock expressed by people at this example of self-harm is down to them being "ugly" is worrying.

Anyone who doesn't get the implications of removing a vital organ from your body, which is designed by nature to act as part of the immune system, is a evolutionarily important mechanism to sense danger, contributes towards taste, etc, then there really is no hope for them, and it's probably pointless trying to explain.
