Would I do this to myself? No. Would I be disappointed in my child doing this to herself? A little. But just because she's chosen this path doesn't mean she has a mental illness. I am very much in favour of body autonomy. It's her body, she can do what she likes with it.

In an ideal world, if money was no object, I would have my entire body tattooed (and I'm 56). I would have skeletal bat wings on my back, a burning heart like my late DPs on my chest with his portrait in it, an underbust corset and lacey sleeves and stockings, all blackwork. I can dream.

And I work in mental health services.. I have come across someone who tattooed on their face due to mental illness. It was very sad. They hated their own face and tattooed drawings all over it so they didn't have to look at it. (They told me this)
I do not think that's what has happened here. This all looks very deliberate and although not to my personal taste, you can see it's aesthetic. It's a well designed and executed look that looks planned out. She obviously put thought into it.

Not everyone has the same taste. She probably thinks creepy confrontational stuff looks cool and interesting. And that's up to her. It's not a mental illness to think this aesthetic is cool. It's just not to the majority taste. Being alternative is not a form of mental illness!!

Everyone has their own idea of beauty. This is extreme but, I've known people who have had strange and weird things done to their bodies with absolutely no regret. It's a lifestyle, a very niche lifestyle.

I think people are missing the point. Doctors, including surgeons, take an oath to 'do no harm'. How can cutting off someone's nose do no harm?! And where does it stop? What if I want both arms removed? Honestly, it's mutilation and it shouldn't be allowed.

She had it done by a body modification specialist. She's allowed to do what she wants with her own body.

Just to put out there, I'm quite alternative myself, I have tattoos and piercings, I don't follow fashion etc so I understand why people do stuff, but to chop your own nose off is next level and honestly damaging
