I’m not a fan of the Government, but the fact that they stopped the strikes and have therefore enabled appointments to rise is a good thing, and therefore it’s a reasonable comparison.

Anyone could have ‘stopped the strikes’ by just caving to everything they demanded. Hardly elite level diplomacy and negotiation. The effect of those buy-offs is causing most other people huge pain as the economy tanks

The Economy hasn’t tanked

The last govt didn’t solve the strikes, for idealogical reasons

Sorting out peoples health will save money in the long run, as conditions are stopped before they get chronic (and we need “long run” policies rather than short-termism.)

This is good news, despite the anti-Labour people being desperate to make it bad news.

What would your plan have been ?
It was a complete shit show, going to war with the BMA has always been a very risky political move.

Pissing in the ocean. The population is rising by pretty much one million people per year

In UK? I thought it was falling. Local schools that were full to bursting ten years ago now have loads of spaces.

Starmer dressed in military uniform threatening to send British troops to the Ukraine just when there's a chance of peace. I think I'll keep moaning actually.

“Peace” in a plan devised by Russia and the USA .. that gives the USA access to Ukraines minerals, and leaves the border with Europe vulnerable - no thanks.

I want a leader who stands up to bullies, doesn’t capitulate to them.

It's great & it's conservative policies that did it. From July to Nov, what did Labour do to achieve that?!

Potsofpetals · 18/02/2025 08:24

hamstersarse · 17/02/2025 11:58

They compared it to a time when doctors were on strike?
A cursory search shows that 1.3 million healthcare appointments were cancelled as a result of the strikes
https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-analysis/blogs/counting-cost-nhs-strikes?utm_source=chatgpt.com

I would love to see it compared to the number of appointments in the same period of 2019, pre covid

This is the thing isn’t it. The labour supporting goons on here are wetting their pants over more appointments when there are in fact the same and a report from Northamptonshire in the news today says the population increase is at breaking point.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the bullshit that comes out of Keir Starmers mouth. He knows the data is incomparable but he publishes it anyway because he thinks we are all incompetent morons like him. No wonder he keeps his kids hidden.

He just can’t stop lying. He lied about the Southport family and who they really are. He lied about the rape gangs and now he wants to send our young working class boys to get killed in Ukraine while thousands of perfectly fit Muslim men are imported to live in free hotels with private health care and a free dentist most of you can’t afford. All this while we can’t afford to help our pensioners.

Is there something wrong with most of you on here? Seriously? Is your hatred for the Conservatives so great that you can’t get your head around the fact that this man is a complete and total lying twat!

Birth rate and population are different things. Population is increasing massively

Bluebellwood129 · 18/02/2025 09:13

Delivered by greater use of the private sector - clearly a move to greater private for-profit investment in the NHS. Funnily enough, exactly what Labour criticised the Tories for doing.

Because one of the biggest donors to Labour owns a private healthcare company. Go figure!

What do you mean “no wonder he keeps his kids hidden” … sounds like a threat against children.

How did he lie about Southport? How did he lie about rape gangs? Since when was the army made up of purely of the working classes, and of men ? (Check your misogyny)

How are “Muslim men imported”?

The reason it’s so hard to talk to people like you, is it’s just a load misinformed nonesense. You not quoted one fact …

Boomer55 · 18/02/2025 09:45

It’s BS- they’re either nurse appts, HA appts or phatmacudt appts. Very few are GP appts and even fewer are face to face. 🙄

Horriblevirusagain · 18/02/2025 09:58

Most have an eight month wait for the actual appointment so no not happy. Labour are the worst party to rule ever!

Porcuporpoise · 18/02/2025 10:05

Justsayit123 · 17/02/2025 11:59

I need a blood test. I’ll be waiting about 6 weeks. Got an appointment at the end of March with my GP. Longer wait if I go to the hospital. My friend has been given a fracture clinic appointment for a broken bone check (not follow up) which will be 11 weeks after the break. Another friend has an Asthema appointment in 43 weeks - yes, 43 weeks time. Got appointments, yes, but they are ridiculous. Not progress.

Where I am it's a 3 week wait to have a blood test done at the GP, but there's also a turn up and wait service at the local hospital and a drive through blood test service on the other side of town. So your issues aren't just about money and gp capacity but also how your local NHS trust prioritises spending and organises services.

Yes - and people wonder why we don't think this is fantastic news. Another nail in the coffin for the NHS. Starmer is deluded if he thinks the public will be impressed with this.

ForRealCat · 18/02/2025 10:29

The comparison period includes 12 days of doctors strikes. Lies, damn lies and statistics.

Mingenious · 18/02/2025 10:31

Meanwhile there was a chap on the news here last night that had been waiting NINE YEARS for a knee replacement.

Thats not my recollection.

Fixed the strike.
Worked on adding extra clinics etc.
Tories cause the problem. In 14 years it got worse and worse and when it gets better under labour, suddenly the last few months of the Tories set it all up to improve!
Honestly, I can get people reserving judgement or being a bit cynical - we’ve been lied to by politicians before - but this level of self delusion is worrying.

Obviously. Some people are so gullible.
And they believe everything Reform/Tories tell them, too.
