It's been eight years since the end of school and I'm not in contact with anyone anymore but AIBU for wanting a reunion to catch up/see how people are getting on etc?

Nope. If you wanna see what people have been up to check their socials

Unless you went to school with me, in which case, fuck off.

😁

tobee · 15/02/2025 20:36

I looked a few up on Friends Reunited all those years ago. The only ones who were on there were not the cool kids.

nongnangning · 15/02/2025 20:36

TrixieFatell · 15/02/2025 20:25

people only want to know who got fat and that they are doing better in life then everyone else. I kept in touch with the ones I wanted to and have no interest to see anyone else

Yep @TrixieFatell has it nailed

AppleKatie · 15/02/2025 20:36

One was organised for my year a few years ago I watched it on FB like one would watch fish swimming in a barrel (I never said I was going!)

a few people went I think but the person organising it lost loads of money on the bar booking and then had a FB rant about how we were all wankers for not turning up

👀

Your an adult now what a odd thing to say

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 15/02/2025 20:39

Nope.
I left 29 years ago and never been interested in any reunions. I didn’t hate school but didn’t love it either. Wasn’t in a “cool” group. Anyone I want to be in touch with, I am.

Tisfortired · 15/02/2025 20:39

Christ no.

I am still good friends with one person from school, and between us we keep up to date with everyone else via FB 😂 couldn’t be less interested in meeting up with any of them again.

Taytocrisps · 15/02/2025 20:41

No, I don't think so. It's almost 30 years since I left school. I'm still in contact with my three best friends and loosely in contact with a few others through Facebook. Happy to leave it at that.

Wherehavetheyallgone · 15/02/2025 20:44

My old school has a reunion Facebook page. I'm interested (ok, nosey!) enough to check it periodically. But I wouldn't gp to one of the reunions. From past write-ups and photos, it's mainly the people who left school at 16 and /or stayed local who go along. Most of those who stayed to sixth form /went to uni don't bother. The school had streaming, so the two groups wouldn't have mixed much, even in the lower years at school.

dontsaystuff · 15/02/2025 19:54

Honestly I would go go with the one friend I'm still friends with from school just to be nosey and have a laugh/ gossip at everyone else.
If she didn't go, I couldn't think of anything worse than going alone.

have a laugh/ gossip at everyone else.

Really? Sounds pathetic

IMustDoMoreExercise · 15/02/2025 20:48

I went to one after 25 years and 35 years with my best friend from school.

Not sure I would have gone without her.

sometimesmovingforwards · 15/02/2025 20:50

For me there would just be no point.
I’m still in touch with my old school friends and these days we meet once a year at best 😂

As for the others, I can’t really see the point as we obviously mutually chose not to keep in touch. They were just other people I shared some air space with for a while through coincidence rather than choice. I hope they’re all thriving, but it would be as relevant as catching up with the faces I recognised for years all getting the 6.07am train to Waterloo. Or the neighbours I had 3 houses ago.

I’ve not got the best memory so if I went I’d just be saying ‘hi there, how are you’ without any real sense of connection. One of our group has a year photo from our 5th year after GCSEs, I literally just don’t recognise people or remember their names.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 15/02/2025 20:50

Fuck no! I imagine the people who are desperate to arrange these school reunions, peaked in high school and have had pretty sad lives ever since.

Starlightstarbright4 · 15/02/2025 20:52

Absolutely no … I hated most people at school . There was one a few years ago out of an 8 form entry i think there were about 10 people ..

PaintDecisions · 15/02/2025 20:52

Absolutely fucking not.

I'm in touch with the people I cared about at school.

The idea, nearly 30 years later, of being in the same room as the school bullies and bitches who made my teenage years a misery so they can judge me all over again makes me feel sick.

SnoozingFox · 15/02/2025 20:53

No - it's a lot longer for me since I left school. I'm still in touch with the people I want to be in touch with. Don't care two hoots about the rest.

PaintDecisions · 15/02/2025 20:54

dontsaystuff · 15/02/2025 19:54

You're the person people like me are avoiding.

Natsku · 15/02/2025 20:56

I would love to, would love to see how people have changed since our school days and catch up with people I haven't stayed in contact with.
Someone actually tried to organise a reunion for my school year last summer but it never really got off the ground, and I wouldn't have been able to go anyway on the date suggested.

tobee · 15/02/2025 21:00

What I mean is @Differentstarts and @AppleKatie the irony being I was on there!! And therefore not a cool kid!! None of the people I wanted to be like, and wanted to know what they had got up to were there.

UlceratedPapacy · 15/02/2025 21:01

No. I have no desire to spend time with people who bullied and excluded me. I look back on my school years with great sadness.

Hankunamatata · 15/02/2025 21:04

Hell no. I hated most of people I went to school with. It's been 30 years and just no

Sunnydiary · 15/02/2025 21:04

PerfectPennyKilledMyHusband · 15/02/2025 19:52

I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon

Me too

Member984815 · 15/02/2025 21:05

No , someone arranged one last year added everyone to a WhatsApp. One friend of mine was added and immediately removed herself . If we wanted to keep up with each other we would . Only a few people turned up in the end

PickledElectricity · 15/02/2025 21:06

Good grief, no. I had a terrible time at school and those cretins rot in hell for all I care.
