It's been eight years since the end of school and I'm not in contact with anyone anymore but AIBU for wanting a reunion to catch up/see how people are getting on etc?

I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon

tillytoodles1 · 15/02/2025 19:52

Never.

I was about to comment and now only need to say ditto 😂

I hated the place and the people, school was horrible for me

Comedycook · 15/02/2025 19:53

Yeah I'd definitely go...but I liked school

dontsaystuff · 15/02/2025 19:54

Honestly I would go go with the one friend I'm still friends with from school just to be nosey and have a laugh/ gossip at everyone else.
If she didn't go, I couldn't think of anything worse than going alone.

Caffeineneedednow · 15/02/2025 19:54

Haha this came up recently for our 20 year reunion. I actually am still in co tact with a number of friends. Someone put it on our what's app to which half went yeah. I was in the other half that responded with a no thanks.

TappyGilmore · 15/02/2025 19:55

No. I hated school and never want to see any of them again, aside from two or three people who I did remain friends with. But I still live in the same area so do run into people from time to time.

butterdish93 · 15/02/2025 19:55

Absolutely not

IhadaStripeyDeckchair · 15/02/2025 19:56

Urgh
I can't think of anything worse
There's a reason why we didn't keep in touch & I've no interest in seeing them again

SmedSmoo · 15/02/2025 19:56

Those saying no, what's your reasons?

I didn't particular get on with lots of people so wouldn't be going in the hopes of rekindling anything but I think it would be nice for old times sake to see how people turned out!

arcticpandas · 15/02/2025 19:56

No way. I'm not curious about people I'm not in contact with.

FurForksSake · 15/02/2025 19:56

Absolutely not. I fear it would just be a lot of forty something women sizing each other and not particularly authentic.

TickingAlongNicely · 15/02/2025 19:57

No. Fucking. Way.

I've worked hard to get to a place where I just pity the bullies. I've no need to see them again.

TheChosenTwo · 15/02/2025 19:57

No thanks. If I had been interested in them I’d have kept in touch, Facebook was around about 5 years after I left school so it wouldn’t have been hard to locate any of them.

You have a WhatsApp group?! How 🤣

I’m team eye gouging here with a side of chewing my limbs off.

I was severely bullied at school by several of them and I have absolutely no interest in what they’re doing now. I just don’t care.

ReignOfError · 15/02/2025 19:58

Nope. Nor a university one. The people I wanted to stay in touch with, I did, and I have no interest in the rest.

mathanxiety · 15/02/2025 19:59

My year have fantastic school reunions. I haven't been in person as I live in another country, but loads of people and teachers go.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/02/2025 19:59

Fuck no

mathanxiety · 15/02/2025 20:00

We also have a class FB and WhatsApp so we're all in touch a lot. There have been a good few obituary notices posted in the last five years, sadly, but also photos of weddings, grandchildren, etc.

Changingplace · 15/02/2025 20:00

Yeah we’ve had a couple, probably one every 10 years, it was fun :) I’m not particularly close to many people I was at school at now as I moved away but I’ve got nothing against them!

UnderTheNameOfSanders · 15/02/2025 20:03

It's '40 years on' since I left my school. They recently had a reunion I didn't even know about. Apparently they managed to track down everyone bar 5 of the year and about 2/3rds turned up.
I vary from being put out I wasn't invited (considering the leavers association has my contact details) and thinking I wouldn't have gone anyway!

Quite.
I actually had a decent time at school but do I want to see loads of people I haven't bothered to keep in touch with since leaving? Fuck no. Someone attempted a reunion a few years ago for our year (I left in 1996) and only a few people were interested so I guess I'm not the only one!

8misskitty8 · 15/02/2025 20:08

Not a chance I’d go. School was fucking awful.
It’s been almost 30 years and I’m contact with a couple of people still. Who like me would not set foot in a reunion.
Theres been posts on our years Facebook page about having a reunion a few times through the years but always from the bitches of our year. No thanks.
