So sick of the endless grey weather

I'm so fed up of opening my curtains to grey. When is spring coming? Its so depressing.

You can see that December was certainly gloomier than usual. For January it's been more variable. It certainly feels like it's been wetter and greyer in my bit of the SE this winter - hardly any day goes by when I don't need to take a raincoat. It's so lovely to see some sunshine.

Right next to that darkest grey patch in the North of England… that’s where I live 🙈.

Oh look
Dark skies and light snow

Snowmanscarf · 17/02/2025 12:06

Blue skies today, but chilly. Could get warmer towards end of week.

scalt · 17/02/2025 12:30

It must be all the moans about the summer heat that bring it on.

RampantIvy · 17/02/2025 12:33

I can't wait to be able to only need to wear underwear and a dress when WFH - no jumpers, no socks, no shoes, no putting on several layers when leaving the house.

wherearemypastnames · 17/02/2025 12:34

Can't stand excess heat either that is true

Probably would prefer grey and cold to over 40

But there are so many more pleasant variations in between!

Often it seems that these are given as the only 2 options.

I was trying to be positive

Epic fail !

Fizbosshoes · 17/02/2025 13:37

Oops sorry!,😄

Myblueclematis · 18/02/2025 08:14

Hooray! Sunshine and blueish sky today. Thank goodness, I am washing a double quilt cover so at long last ^^ can actually get something outside to dry. Praise the Lord!!

😎😁

It is GLORIOUS here. Beautiful sun and I’ve just taken my coat off because it’s so mild (double digits)

south east forever!

Inkystain · 24/02/2025 10:01

Oh…. It’s just started to drizzle!

RampantIvy · 24/02/2025 10:20

It was lovely here on Saturday. I even got some gardening done. Then yesterday was cold, very windy and rainy. It's OK now, but not forecast to last.

PassingStranger · 24/02/2025 13:25

Nice and bright today at long last.
Washing out.

Fizbosshoes · 24/02/2025 14:34

It pelted with rain yesterday evening , all night and was dull and grey this morning. Got to work in central London and the sun came out late morning. On way home early - look out one side of the train and sky is blue, opposite side, grey cloud, looks like rain imminent!

Inkystain · 24/02/2025 15:14

Oooh back to being absolutely gorgeous. Full sun

RampantIvy · 24/02/2025 16:57

We had a some cloud and rain in the middle of the day then it brightened up and is lovely now. I can feel that spring is on the way. (waiting for the summer haters to come on and complain now)

SlashingRedRibbons · 01/03/2025 10:50

The blossom on the trees came out yesterday with the sun . People are happier when the sun shines too .

Clearing up the garden without the fear of getting frostbite is a bonus. Plus a blackbird pair have begun their nest in a bush that was in need of a good trim!

ETA: Two washing loads on the line is always welcome.

All so lovely.

PassingStranger · 01/03/2025 21:00

March 1 we are on the way. Nice day today.

Myblueclematis · 02/03/2025 07:55

Three days in a row of glorious, sunny weather and I now have an empty washing basket. Looks set to continue until Friday at the moment.

Frosty this morning, but I'll take cold, bright and beautiful over wet, grey and miserable any day. 😎

RampantIvy · 02/03/2025 09:32

Wall to wall sunshine here in South Yorkshire, and no rain forecast until 10th March, which is pretty unusual for where I live.

Garden cleanup this early is a death sentence for overwintering insects and other organisms. I know it's difficult to resist but it's really better to wait.
