I'm so fed up of opening my curtains to grey. When is spring coming? Its so depressing.

Do you have anywhere near you that has a good display of snowdrops? A walk in a snowdrop wood does lift the spirits.

Yip, east coast of Scotland here, and just about the only time it's not horrible and grey is when it's dark!

To makecup for it we are blessed with the most beautiful light nights when they come, which isn't soon enough!!

Nights are already noticeably longer though. Dc have a pony and need to ride after school and are now managing a bit of daylight to do so. How fast we get the extra daylight in the only good thing about this time of year

ShiftySquirrel · 15/02/2025 08:00

Same here in the east, and we usually get the best of it with nice sunrises especially. But no.

It's certainly not been a cold, clear, crisp winter so far. Just grey, cold and drizzly.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/02/2025 08:08

We had a little glimmer of brightness yesterday, not sun in the traditional sense, but there was a flicker of it behind the clouds. Today: heavy rain, 85% chance all day, windy and 2*c 🤦‍♀️

SallyWD · 15/02/2025 09:01

It's freezing here in Leeds. Yesterday we had sun hut it was very cold. It is still winter though so it has to be expected. 14 degrees some days next week!

PassingStranger · 15/02/2025 20:22

Today has been foul.
Not surprised people go abroad to live in the Winter.

Myblueclematis · 16/02/2025 08:20

I've got a load of washing doing right now, the weather forecast gave the impression yesterday that today would be sunnyish. Currently, it's grey, dreary and slightly breezy.

I will be really annoyed if I have to dry it indoors yet again and have it decorating the house on an airer.

I just want to dry my washing outside for a change ... 😫

BigDahliaFan · 16/02/2025 09:21

Drove around our local area and found the one bit of where we live that had blue skies. It was glorious! First bit of sun on the weekend for ages and ages.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 16/02/2025 12:18

We just had an hour of sunshine! I mean it’s gone now but it was so nice while it lasted. I went on the cross trainer and pretended it was warm and sunny 😂. Unfortunately now we’re off out with the dog, it’s cold, windy and grey 🙈. Should have done it the other way round!

wherearemypastnames · 16/02/2025 13:06

W have light grey as well as dark grey clouds so I guess that's an improvement

IVFmumoftwo · 16/02/2025 13:09

I’m going to guess you don’t enjoy small talk @IVFmumoftwo 😆

I'm in Liverpool ATM and there is a bitter wind.

I hate comments like this, just because it’s winter it doesn’t mean we have to enjoy it. It’s the back end of winter too so you’d expect a hint of spring by now.

When people start moaning it’s too hot in summer I’m going to reply, “It’s summer, what do you expect? Put a bikini on and get out in the sunshine.”

Well no you don't have to enjoy it but if we didn't have the jet stream it would be even worse, far colder. I probably am not that bothered about it.

But I and most of the posters are. We are allowed to have a moan about the weather.

KimberleyClark · 16/02/2025 16:23

Bloody freezing here too

I'm with you OP. And it's so cold today.
I absolutely hate the winter. Im lucky in that I'm retired and would normally be able to spend a few weeks somewhere a bit warmer, and we did get away just after Christmas but then I had to have surgery in January. So I'm here and miserable. Pissed down all day yesterday. Cold and grey today.

Fizbosshoes · 16/02/2025 17:08

I expect winter to be cold.
However there are various versions of winter weather - even in the UK- other than just grey, breezy and drizzle

It's quite possible to have cold but sunny days in winter, as well as dull ones!

I did a 10k race this morning , it was dull , a tad windy, and very chilly (2°) before and during the race. I did a 1 mile cool down jog afterwards and the sun briefly came out and that made a big difference even though it was still cold, and still winter
It didn't last long, but it was nice for about an hour!

PassingStranger · 16/02/2025 21:48

Getting neater and nearer March 1st which is always abit of a turning point.
We have done the 4 horrible winter months.

We have semi-sunshine in Leicestershire today!!! Its still behind a thin veil of cloud but definitely more there than it has been for ages! Very cold though but at least the mud was frozen on my dog walk Grin
