I am Not "Woo" at all but this just happened

so I'm in no way, shape or form "woo" buuutttt just been sitting on side of my bed texting on my phone and my soundbar for TV (which I've had for 4 years with no issues) just decided to launch itself onto the floor, has hit my foot and cut it, picked it back up thinking how weird 🤷🤷 went back to my phone and a bottle of water, tube of face cream and a lip balm on top of my chest of drawers then launched themselves across the room, pretty freaked out by this point but still being rational in my head, picked phone back up carried on messaging back a friend, looked up to think what I was trying to type and felt a big tap /slap and literally saw my phone fly in the air and land other side of room, trying hard to think rationally but feeling pretty spooked right now
😭there's a rational reason for all this, yes???

Do get a carbon monoxide alarm if you haven’t got one. Ovens, fires, central healing, can be a source. Exposure can cause these type of experiences.

A minor earthquake could cause this, but nothing has been reported for Wales. Are you near any mine workings?

have 2 carbon manoxide alarms in house which are replaced regularly, no earthquakes here as far as I'm aware, but definitely will keep a look out in news now.
no mine workings where I actually am, 16 miles from nearest

Wales?

Most likely a giant sinkhole under your house that is starting to give way.

Amaranthasweetandfair · 09/02/2025 21:12

@StMarie4me have you just asked someone for their evidence that something isn't paranormal? How about you give us the evidence it is and we'll go from there?

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 09/02/2025 21:13

Im not woo at all either but since DP brought the wrong ashes home so we have a Maureen instead of a Jane weird shit keeps happening in our house too. Had bathroom lights switch off when no one is outside the bathroom and doors open that are pretty stiff and the washing machine keeps being paused when it's running.

TemporaryPosition · 09/02/2025 21:13

Tacsi · 09/02/2025 20:16

I'm anti catholic/anti priest tho(don't open that box) so can't do this 😂

Well.......

StMarie4me · 09/02/2025 21:14

Love that people say these things are not real because they've never seen them.

I am a perfectly rational 62 year old. I don't watch ghost crap on tv and I don't follow conspiracy theories.

I saw this kind of thing in my brother's room in 1977.
I saw the sane kind of thing in a house where I was babysitting in 1980.
I saw a walking ghost in 1994 in the shop that I managed.

Don't tell me they're not real.

Shera12 · 09/02/2025 21:14

…how is it ok to just say you’re anti-catholic?!

Why so aggressive? Why do I not get to state what I have seen but the PP can absolutely state what they have NOT seen? 🤷🏻‍♀️

BuoyBoyBy · 09/02/2025 20:43

Have you seen the episode of breaking bad where they destroyed a laptop with incriminating evidence by driving by the police station in a truck with a ginormous magnet in the back.
Do you live near a police station?

Oh I'd forgotten about this episode! I don't know how a series can be so good.

OP, is your house sinking?

Amaranthasweetandfair · 09/02/2025 21:15

@StMarie4me I'm not being aggressive but your post sort of was.

I'm an atheist, sooooo😕😕

So if you are an atheist, then it is not happening, right?

raspberrieswithchocolate · 09/02/2025 21:16

A sinkhole wouldn't explain the OP's phone being slapped out of her hand though.

Plggybacker · 09/02/2025 21:18

Possible explanations (in approximate order of likelihood)...

  1. OP is making it up for entertainment purposes.
  2. OP is having a mental health episode.
  3. OP is hallucinating due to a medical condition.
  4. OP is suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
  5. There's a scientific explanation nobody has thought of yet.
  6. It's something paranormal.

Yet so many people jump straight to 6 and start shouting for sage and priests.

Tacsi · 09/02/2025 21:19

Datgal · 09/02/2025 20:48

Exactly this. Things don't launch themselves. They might fall if they're on the edge.
And if you believe they launched themselves there's got to be 'something' doing it.
Get anybody willing to come in and ask it to leave.
My auntie did with me once when I went through something strange (also an atheist none believer btw!), and never had it had it again. I now have an open mind about what could be out there whatever it is. Not necessarily the dead is it. Nobody knows!

Edited

honestly I absolutely do not believe in all this stuff but it definitely launched, to other side of room, believe me I'm thinking nothing but rational but launch it did!!

I vote for option 1

  1. Ghosts
  2. Mental illness
  3. Drugs
  4. Earthquake
  5. Shit that never happened
Tacsi · 09/02/2025 21:20

OhMyGollyGoshGosh · 09/02/2025 20:49

Exactly.

But these threads seem to draw apparently grown adult MNetters like seagulls to a bag of chips 🙄

And almost every thread starts with "I'm not at all woo but..."

If there's been no earth tremor, distant explosion or anything similar then it's far more likely to be a mental health issue developing, than Ghostly Gary chucking lip balms around.

I'm not Woo tho, in any way shape or form, is why I'm asking for any rational thoughts!!

OP posts:
Nottodaysatanugh · 09/02/2025 21:21

Not woo either but had the weirdest thing happen to me also this week. Moved into a new house, invited my sister and niece over (5) to see it. Niece goes into dining room/makeshift playroom and starts screaming literally about the angry old lady in there. We calm her down, nothing more said.

then three days later. Friend comes with her little boy who’s 3 and he starts saying and crying while playing in there pointing at nothing about the lady and she has a sad face! 😬😬😬 it’s literally an empty dining room with some toys I’d set up for them! They’ve never met each other my niece and friends son! So now I’m scared to go in there 😂

wordler · 09/02/2025 21:22

Until the phone I was going to say mouse.

What does god have to do with the paranormal? You can absolutely believe in one and not the other?

NovaF · 09/02/2025 21:23

North Wales does get a lot of seismic activity https://museum.wales/articles/1283/Earthquakes-in-Wales/

however, when I was on holiday once there was a minor earthquake and the building wobbled slightly, nothing got knocked out my hand or flew off cupboards!

Earthquakes in Wales

Although not competing with areas famous for their instability such as western California, Japan or ...

HolyPeaches · 09/02/2025 21:23

Speak out loud, politely but assertively and ask them to leave you alone.

Purplexox · 09/02/2025 21:23

Have you checked your carbon monoxide alarms are working??

theduchessofspork · 09/02/2025 21:23

Plggybacker · 09/02/2025 20:44

Good grief there's some nonsense suggestions on this thread. Whatever is going on, whether there's a scientific explanation or not, no amount of sage, priests or prayer circles is going to make a tiny bit of difference.

I think most people are joking

reesiespieces · 09/02/2025 21:24

RedDeer · 09/02/2025 20:57

Do you have a carbon dioxide alarm? As a lot of spooky things in houses can be caused by carbon dioxide affecting our brain's. Just a thought.

OP if you have gas appliances in your house you need to open your windows and get out. Carbon monoxide poisoning can produce symptoms that mimic hauntings.
