Dryrobe W****r

Am I being unreasonable that I’ve discovered there is a Facebook page taking non consenting photos of lone women and children in dryrobes and mocking them. Or am I a snowflake? I wear one. Whilst I know they aren’t a stylish choice. It’s the most practical thing I’ve owned in years. I would be furious if someone took a photo of me and uploaded it

I’m a proud dry robe wanker. I’m not spending all that money on the most practical coat ever and only wearing it when I’m doing water sports.

Womanofcustard · 18/02/2025 19:04

I’ve just googled dry robe as I had no idea what it was. It’s a big coat! What’s the fuss about?

It’s oversized so fits over other clothes and you can change under it, it’s waterproof and full length so hides everything (when changing but also over work clothes when you need to take the dog out in the rain before work), it’s ridiculously warm and windproof so is good at the beach etc or when hanging around outdoors for anything (like camping or watching sport).

Exactly. It sounds like a group full of incels to be honest. Why get so het up about a coat. Nobody likes an echo chamber more than an incel.

I'm a bit baffled everyone is suddenly wearing huge trousers, but I will probably end up wearing them at some point as it is inevitable.

God, don't go on the group calling it a coat 😱

I'm sure most of them don't even know what they're made of. They keep saying they're not waterproof and they're towels. Pretty sure they think people are walking about in dressing gowns 🤷‍♀️

You don’t have to actually join the Facebook group, you can just look.

Oh! I have just left the group anyway. Some people are just nasty 🤷‍♀️.

I did a beach sauna last week and emerged feeling out of this world. This might become a habit so now I want a dryrobe!

To those who own them - I like the look of the Passenger one. Does anyone have one of these and are they any good? Also are the branded ones worth investing in?

LilacLilias · 18/02/2025 21:20

I live in central London and have recently seen a lot of people wearing these. I kind of assumed everyone got them on holiday or something then liked them. But maybe it's just a trend?? Either way, mean to mock them obviously

Obviously. Dicks, buying something that keeps them warm and dry in London of all places! Everyone know London is sunny and 25 Celsius all year round.

I never said they were dicks? What's wrong with you?!

It's the innane "but they're nowhere near the sea" comments on every post.

Because apparently the only place to swim outdoors in the uk is the sea. I did an outdoor swim and popped into the supermarket on my way home. I was absolutely frozen (water was about 4⁰) so wore my dry robe (well. A cheaper version). A random woman tutted "it's not THAT cold". Bloody temperature police

It is a mean group, it put me off wearing mine that I felt a tit in public with it on. I only wore it 5 times and then sold it.

its not very practical for out and about I found as the arms were too short, no toggles on the hood, no cuffs on the wrists and it was tent like.

i was a size 20 and wearing a small and it was massive on me. It was too restricting to drive in, water went up my arm when it was raining as I had to hold the hood on my head and there was massive gaps in the arms at the wrists.

It's almost as if they weren't designed to be worn as coats...

I think the person you responded to got the wrong coat some have proper sleeves and others have very short very wide opened sleeves for easier changing. They are just roomy coats

ThrowawayAccount29 · 30/05/2025 08:54

That page is the main reason I’m not buying one. I really don’t want to have the piss taken out of me online like that. Anyway, I just bought two beautiful coats which are lined with faux fur for less than the cost of one of these. I’m happy 🥰
