I wait all day to get back into bed

Is this weird, some sort of depression or normal?

I just can’t wait to get back into bed at night

Heater on, fluffy pjs, just warm and under the covers with my phone and just peace.

I don’t have this in summer as much, so I know it’s to do with the cold and wanting to be warm and relaxed too

I think about it towards late afternoon a lot

Anyone else the same?

I'm kind of the same but in reverse. I've always been a night owl. I am now 60 and work part time, kids grown up, no pressures.

Lately I have started to stay in bed until 10ish in the morning - it's so cold outside and so lovely and snuggly in my bed! DH gets up about 7.30 - but tbf he's a morning person and often crashes after lunch.

Between us we do chill a lot these days - but because mine is when everyone else is up I do feel lazy. But it is nice!

It's the best part of the day. Into bed radio on scrolling on here. I'm out every day, usually for school pick ups, household chores for my daughter, which I love doing, she's got a lot going on in her life. I've got plenty time during the day. After I've watched programmes up I go about 10. Love it!

Bed is one of my most favourite places. Hence my username. Put the electric blanket on to take the chill off, jump into a warm bed. Get phone and Mumsnet. Happy as a pig in shit. It's where I'm meant to be.

Come on, op. Do you really think depressed people think things like I can’t wait to get my fluffy pj’s on and get cosy and relaxed?

Nope. We don't. Some days we don't get up. Some days we are up for 3 hours. That'd be a good day.

I’m actually really jealous of you! I’d love to get my PJs on, get into bed with a cuppa and a lovely book, and snuggle to peaceful sleep! It’s absolutely freezing outside. If you have no plans, would you not? You’re absolutely living the dream.
My youngest DD (just turned 2) is having some kind of sleep regression and for months now, has a couple of nights a week where she’s awake for HOURS - night before last, she was awake 12.15-4am. My alarm goes off at 5.30am, so as you’d expect, I felt like boiled shite all day yesterday. I 100% decided I was going to bed as soon as my children were asleep. That worked, and we were all in bed and asleep by 8.30pm. Problem is, we’re all full of a horrible cold, so my DP woke me up (not on purpose, but being next to me making noise wakes me up, as I’m a very light sleeper now) at 2am, coughing and sneezing, and my oldest (almost 5yo) shouted because she’d had a bad dream. Youngest slept peacefully through all the noise until 5am 🙄
I literally said to my DP yesterday, that I’m just surviving now until my children are old enough to fend for themselves for bedtime, and until they become lazy tweens and I have to drag them out of their pits in the morning. 😂

God I am the same 9pm and that’s me off to my bed with a book. I also love a nap on a weekend. I do worry that I’m wasting my life but then I fall asleep. In summer I will be better in that I will sit outside in the garden with a book (or nap) but I still love my bed above all things.

@Frigginfreeezing
I envy you.
I love getting in my pj's but dread bedtime.
As soon as I turn the light off, my brain goes into overdrive.
I think about my day, I even think about things that happened 10+ yrs ago.
Then I toss and turn until I drop off due to exhaustion.
I can't remember the last time I had a good night's sleep

I'm the same, thinking about stuff that I can't change and getting all angry about things from my past. I know it's ridiculous.

oh god yes, I discovered teddy bedding 2 years ago, it's just the best to snuggle into.

Ha ha yes, it's hard to get up.in the winter.

Goldenbear · 08/02/2025 21:22

I like reading a book but don't do it in bed. If I go to bed at 10pm, my eldest who is 18 and DH would ask if I am ok, we all go to bed far too late in this house and that's with getting up at 6am for 7.15 commute on the train!

richspoilt · 08/02/2025 21:24

I love my bed so much I even asked for a teasmade for Christmas…absolutely bloody marvellous!

Time runs out too quickly ! Day drags on and time in bed flashes by 🤣

GreenYellowBrown · 08/02/2025 22:58

I love getting into bed. Got back from Pilates today at about 11.30am, hopped into bed and watched Orange is the New Black for the rest of the day followed by a takeaway for dinner. Lovely 😋 😋

Do you have an ensuite, so you don't have far to go to the loo either?
