I wait all day to get back into bed

Is this weird, some sort of depression or normal?

I just can’t wait to get back into bed at night

Heater on, fluffy pjs, just warm and under the covers with my phone and just peace.

I don’t have this in summer as much, so I know it’s to do with the cold and wanting to be warm and relaxed too

I think about it towards late afternoon a lot

Anyone else the same?

Have spent the whole week in bed. I'm not ill or depressed. I get up early, have a shower and clean the house, then go back to bed. I have internet, t.v. books, snacks and my two cats. I feel as if I've been on holiday.

H12345 · 05/02/2025 06:22

Well I’ve been up 30 mins and already can’t wait to finish work, get in pjs and chill when everything else is sorted ! It’s what winters all about 🥰

fatandtrying · 05/02/2025 06:24

I could stay in bed forever! its my security blanket! nothing better than getting on, pja on and getting in bed

stayathomer · 05/02/2025 06:27

I don’t know, I think if it’s not regular than yes, totally normal, but a daily thing … I’ve been there and then thought surely it’s not great for your whole day to be centred towards the getting out of the day part? Especially on the kids, as in I can’t wait for the bit they’re in bed? Which sounds extreme but it was essentially what I was thinking

TemporaryPosition · 05/02/2025 06:29

I'm the same

dottiedodah · 05/02/2025 06:36

My nan used to say " lovely old bed" (we shared a 4 feet bed!) as child on weekend sleep overs. I think it's natural. Been quite a cold winter, dark ss early and you need a 2nd mortgage to run the heating properly. Sleep well OP and enjoy your bed

Oblomov25 · 05/02/2025 06:36

I love getting into bed, being in bed. One of my most favourite places. I jump into bed early often. I don't see this as a problem.

I think you like simple things. Like the thought of a cup of tea makes me happy. Not everything has to be flashy, expensive, busy to be enjoyable. I'm the same. I hate sitting in my day clothes when home. Immediately in pj's. I enjoy a nap and sleep so much that even my 5 year old son is the same. He asks to go for a nap or to cuddle up in bed "all warm and cosy" he says. If we all liked the same things, we would all be the same people. Nothing wrong with it. I do enjoy it more in winter only because I struggle with the cold and circulation and getting my hands and feet toasty is a relief.

Getting into bed at the end of the day is the best feeling. No more jobs to do, just relax.

graceinspace999 · 05/02/2025 06:56

I’m like that. I’m exhausted from when I get up. Just can’t wait to get into bed.

Just been started on a thyroid tablet and doc is testing my blood for deficiency so I’m hoping that it’s an easy fix. 😴

LBFseBrom · 05/02/2025 07:22

I think about it every day, it's nothing to do with weather because my home is warm and cosy. I just like bed and sleep. Not bothered about phone though have it handy in case anyone rings or I need to make a call.

Zanatdy · 05/02/2025 06:20

What’s wrong with that? Having a scroll of your phone in the evening is as acceptable as watching TV. OP didn’t say she was scrolling until 1am, she said she loves her sleep.

I was asking the OP, not for other's opinions.

StarLake666 · 05/02/2025 07:23

IMO there is nothing more comforting than getting into bed early ( especially on clean sheet night 😍) with a good book and forgetting about everything. I sometimes have to force myself to stay up till 7 p.m! Definitely feels stranger in the summer when it stays light, but on a dark winters night-bliss!
equally I like getting up early too- 😌😌

Frigginfreeezing · 04/02/2025 22:08

Not at that moment really, but I usually am glad to be home and then put my pjs on pretty much straightaway. That’s still not as good as the getting in bed part. Dd asleep, Dh watching tv downstairs, just me, no one wanting anything and also warm 😅

I too love bed time.
Whippet on bed and peaceful-
It’s definitely a winter thing.
A freshly made bed- new sheets - gorgeous!

Come on, op. Do you really think depressed people think things like I can’t wait to get my fluffy pj’s on and get cosy and relaxed?

I think that 🤷‍♀️ depressed people can still enjoy things!

hideawayforever · 05/02/2025 07:40

Oh God I love snuggling down in bed, all cosy with tv on or phone or a good book, cup of tea, it's lovely.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 05/02/2025 07:41

My dh works one night shift per week and has done for ages. My absolute favourite thing is early tea of something he doesn’t like, lock up and into bed to watch a crap film or guilty pleasure tv show really early. Backfired last year when I missed the big Aurora sighting.
He retires completely soon and I’ll miss it.

FrutenGlee · 05/02/2025 07:42

Depends if it’s a relief from stress/ pain / burnout/ depression/ too much responsibility to be in your bed, versus if you are just taking joy in simple pleasures. Good to check in with yourself how you’re feeling. .

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 05/02/2025 07:44

Just thought, you know what else is lovely? When you’ve got up, showered and got back into a still warm bed. Reminds me of snow days.

I think we are designed to...not hibernate as such but go into a minimal state in the winter. I think, because we don't, we have a host of issues as a result.

No animal stays rabidly active as we are expected to all year. It's unhealthy.

I definitely feel the urge to just stay in a dim cool environment and just sleep in a warm bed at this time of year in the UK.

Theoldwoman · 05/02/2025 07:47

Same. Grief is crippling me. It leaves me so so exhausted. I’ve just had blood work done and everything is fine!

yes, this is me, my husband works 4 nights a week, I just have my tea, shower and in bed by at least 7pm as he leaves for work, then bliss of watching tv, or reading a book all snuggled down in bed with the night ahead of me. love it.

DevonDiva · 05/02/2025 07:52

I think for me I’m an introvert and getting into bed is the end of having to interact with others, which is why I look forward to it.
