I wait all day to get back into bed

Is this weird, some sort of depression or normal?

I just can’t wait to get back into bed at night

Heater on, fluffy pjs, just warm and under the covers with my phone and just peace.

I don’t have this in summer as much, so I know it’s to do with the cold and wanting to be warm and relaxed too

I think about it towards late afternoon a lot

Anyone else the same?

I did feel like this when I was depressed actually OP. Every day was just about doing the minimum required to get by during the day and then get back in bed asap.

Only you will know how you feel and only a Doctor can give you a diagnosis.

sorechalfonts · 04/02/2025 22:44

make sure you have an electric underblanket and a big iPad to elevate the nest experience. ❤️

Scutterbug · 04/02/2025 22:49

I love my bed! I struggle to leave it in the morning and can’t wait to go back at night!

Mindedmy · 04/02/2025 22:50

OP, you have bought back happy memories of my previous child free existence when I occasionally got home from work at 5:30ish and PJs were on and straight into bed to
warch tv (neighbours 😬 ) and drink tea and snooze. Now my kids are getting older, I am excited to think that this time will come again 💕

FinneganFois · 04/02/2025 22:52

@Missionimprobable

I hear you ! I'm going through the same thing, it's happening more and more often now. In my case I think it's anxiety, as I felt light headed during my shift at work today, and then nauseous. I've been trying to get a doctor's appointment since October !
No advice but hope things improve soon. Flowers

On a work day it’s all I think about. DH can’t stand being in bed, I think if he was away I might turn in at about 8pm.

Come on, op. Do you really think depressed people think things like I can’t wait to get my fluffy pj’s on and get cosy and relaxed?

No we don't because we don't get out of our pjs in the first place! 🤣😬

I used to do similar 💓

Now it’s almost more of an accomplishment too, everything done for the day and…lie down

Although i enjoy my days, I absolutely love my bed, best time of the day is snuggling down with my book when it's all quiet and peaceful.
I feel really sorry for people I read about who have noisy neighbours and no peace at night, it must be so upsetting.

Happiestathome · 04/02/2025 23:07

I love my bed. I suffer with my mental and physical health, and bed is a place where I can get some relief from the struggles of work/life and recover a little.

Lavenderandbrown · 05/02/2025 01:39

op I just got in bed with my heated blanket clean and ironed pjs…no one else is home and I slid in and said….aaahhh. Then opened your thread☺️!! My favorite place and time of day…bedtime. And I agree more in the winter but still love the feeling of day is accomplished. It’s 835 pm in my time zone

Rawnotblended · 05/02/2025 02:36

At last I have found my people!

I turn on the electric blanket with the Alexa thingy so it’s all toasty and the reading light is on. I ensure my Nibs cotton Pjs are ironed, along with cotton pillowslips. And as DP is mercifully away more than he’s here, I sleep in a starfish right in the middle. And Alexa turns off the blanket and the light!

KeepGettingIll · 05/02/2025 02:37

Could be worth turning up the heating, and/or seeing if you need your thyroid checked or to eat differently to give yourself more energy, maybe see if multivitamins/minerals help? No harm in resting if you want to rest though. Sometimes if you're fighting off bugs too in winter I think it can take it out of you.

Rawnotblended · 05/02/2025 02:39

And, slattern alert, my ex husband used to complain about everything but especially there being “stuff” next to the bed. Stuff is snacks, drinks, books, magazines etc. Sometimes I take a big mug of wine (I use a mug because he said that people who drank out of mugs were disgusting) and lie in bed eating chocolate and laughing to myself. So fuck you, ex!

Turkeyneck101 · 05/02/2025 05:37

From the minute I get up in the morning I'm planning when I can get back to bed. I put this down mainly to sleep deprivation. I have horrible broken sleep and feel like death in the morning so any opportunity to sleep is grabbed with both hands. When I worked full time I was perpetually exhausted.

Devon24 · 05/02/2025 05:57

It’s your time just for yourself, why wouldn’t you look forward to that? I think it’s perfectly normal in a busy world. Self care even. Winter makes it more appealing.

Devon24 · 05/02/2025 05:59

I have given up accepting too many invites in the winter as I just can’t bring myself to want to
go out. The lure of a warm bed and a book, not needing to be anywhere or do anything is too good to miss.

JustMyView13 · 05/02/2025 05:59

This is normal!
This, is peak adulting 😂
Winter me, and summer me, are different people. I accept that 😂

deflatedbirthday · 05/02/2025 06:04

I'm with you.

DH and I work long hours. I work a mix of days and nights. We are child free Monday and Tuesday and have been known to be in bed very early with a box set, flask of tea and hot water bottles if we are both off work. It's our little bubble.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 05/02/2025 06:07

I share this joy OP. I think it is just a place where you can retreat and recover from what is a busy life and the constant demands of others. We are always on the go, work, house, kids and then technology means we never switch off. Bed is my quiet, cozy space the only time of the day when I can get some peace.

BreezySqueazy · 05/02/2025 06:10

I’m the same, if I can sneak back into it in the daytime I will. I think I was a hedgehog in a previous life because I do have an overwhelming urge to just stay in bed in winter!

NormaleKartoffeln · 05/02/2025 06:13

The words 'with my phone' worry me a bit - are you constantly scrolling?

lifesrichpageant · 05/02/2025 06:15

OP I've never seen it expressed/explained quite so clearly but yes I am absolutely in your camp! I tell my family that "pre bed" is pretty much the best time of my day haha!

Zanatdy · 05/02/2025 06:19

I love getting into bed of an evening. Just me and teen DD so no-one to complain to me if I get into bed at 8pm! DD and I often watch something on the tv in my bedroom. Love my fleecy duvet and the dog snuggles up (currently 2 dogs as I seem to have inherited friends dog too as she is sadly very unwell in hospital, soon to be hospice). I do like going to bed early in summer too, but I often feel then I should be doing stuff, whereas in winter never feel like that. I do have a good social life, but most of it during the day now i’m approaching 50! Love the theatre, but prefer the matinee’s, same for pub lunches or will go 5-6pm for an evening meal so not late back. Hate getting in after 9pm!

What’s wrong with that? Having a scroll of your phone in the evening is as acceptable as watching TV. OP didn’t say she was scrolling until 1am, she said she loves her sleep.
