I wait all day to get back into bed

Is this weird, some sort of depression or normal?

I just can’t wait to get back into bed at night

Heater on, fluffy pjs, just warm and under the covers with my phone and just peace.

I don’t have this in summer as much, so I know it’s to do with the cold and wanting to be warm and relaxed too

I think about it towards late afternoon a lot

Anyone else the same?

I feel exactly the same. Confided this to my friend who said she makes her bed each morning and says to the bed, "Have a lovely day and I'll see you later" 😄

fatandtrying · 05/02/2025 19:52

and bedtime for me...... hope it happens for you all soon 😂

Devon24 · 05/02/2025 21:22

Sweet dreams everyone, snuggle down and enjoy your bed 😊

fatandtrying · 06/02/2025 07:22

I've had a message off my friend already saying..... gosh is it bedtime yet? I had to giggle and thought to myself, won't be long 😂

notatinydancer · 06/02/2025 07:30

Yes. The worst part of the day is getting up , the best part is going back to bed.

Dogsbreath7 · 06/02/2025 18:05

This is my modified winter hibernation from when the clocks change end October till spring and clock changes in March.

Dittyditty · 06/02/2025 18:07

I have a lovely life with my wonderful husband
But at this time of year I would be delighted to live in bed......as long as I had a steady supply of drinks and snacks !!!

MaddestGranny · 06/02/2025 18:45

It's not for nothing that it's called "The Best Place In The World"

  • especially November till February.
Rhaenys · 06/02/2025 18:55

I struggle so much in the darker months. If I didn’t have daylight bulbs in the house, I think it’d be unbearable.

Nikki75 · 06/02/2025 18:58

I think there's something really comforting about doing this in winter .
Sometimes we need the peace and cosiness to recharge ourselves.

TylwythTeg · 06/02/2025 19:01

This is completely me!! I long for getting into bed - telly, cuppa, warmth, snuggliness and no-one mithering me! It’s only in recent years I’ve been this way, since my LOs are old enough to do their own thing now. It’s even better when my OH’s not here and I can have ALL the pillows and starfish!

pomers · 06/02/2025 19:34

Me too, especially in winter

LeaveALittleNote · 06/02/2025 19:36

I feel like this all winter, but I do have SAD. I rarely feel like this in the summer. I just love to be warm and relaxed.

I also love a good dream.

ssd · 06/02/2025 20:25

God i love my bed. I write a wee journal every night about my feelings/wellbeing in bed before i read my book. Settles me down.

Saggyknickers · 06/02/2025 20:29

I'm like this. Ive been thinking about it a lot lately and my take is that in the modern world we don't take so much consideration into the natural rhythms of out bodies in the changing seasons and the natural human draw to hibernate and seek home comforts in the cold winter months, I've always experienced SAD in jan/feb but now instead of trying to fight against it I just accept it and see it as natural. I get out for a walk every day as I think it's important to do physical activity to ward off depression but yes, another bed-lover here.

I bet cavemen spent most of their time in their caves staying warm when not out catching food!

Airspice · 06/02/2025 20:33

I’m the same op! Me and my best friend always laugh when we go away together or have a ‘sleepover’ at each others houses as I always get into bed exclaiming very loudly ‘I LOVE bed’!! It’s become my mantra 🤣

PassingStranger · 06/02/2025 21:11

Yes love my bed in the winter. The teddy bear bedding is glorious.

oh god yes, I discovered teddy bedding 2 years ago, it's just the best to snuggle into.

HarrietsweetHarriet · 06/02/2025 21:56

Yes, OP. Exactly this. I struggle to get up, limp through the day until I can get back into bed. I struggle to even wash and clean my teeth some days.
Maybe it's SAD, I know I have anxiety, a lot going on in my life and what I think is depression.
Maybe we'll start to feel better once the evenings and mornings are lighter and it's a bit warmer.

Pippyls67 · 06/02/2025 22:01

I’m absolutely the same. Some days I think ‘please stop the world I just want to get off’ but as it won’t the next best thing is a cosy Kip in a warm bed. It’s my happy place.

@Frigginfreeezing
I envy you.
I love getting in my pj's but dread bedtime.
As soon as I turn the light off, my brain goes into overdrive.
I think about my day, I even think about things that happened 10+ yrs ago.
Then I toss and turn until I drop off due to exhaustion.
I can't remember the last time I had a good night's sleep

Have you tried ambient noise. I prefer green or brown noise. White noise is a bit too synthetic sounding for me.

Frigginfreeezing · 06/02/2025 22:29

All snuggled up, heater near me, reading this.

Got home from work at 8 tonight, so cold driving home and all I could think of was being where I am now 😂

I’ve got to admit I’m the same as you op. Live my bed and waste the days wanting them to end. I’m aware of how wasteful of my precious life this is. But I’m exhausted

Horses7 · 06/02/2025 22:36

Me too this year - I’m pretty sure I’m not depressed or completely bone idle either! However I’m usually in the sun for most of January so I’m blaming that (I take vitamin D supplements in winter which should help but hasn’t) 🤣

MedusaAndHerFavourites · 06/02/2025 22:50

Bed is my favourite place at the moment.
