Was I body shamed at Mcdonalds

L9ucy · 04/02/2025 21:12

Went to Mcdonalds drive through as a treat, my DD wanted to pay, so handed the 5 pound note from the back seat. The man working on the drive through thought it was funny and said ''it's a good job I'm slim'' I have no idea what being slim had to do with it, he could reach but not because he was slim.. feel it was a dig at me

OP posts:

I think someone's one nugget short of a Happy Meal here.

Msmoonpie · 04/02/2025 21:45

No wonder people don’t dare to speak to anyone anymore.

Literally anything as demonstrated here can be taken as offensive. Its ridiculous.

I don’t like using the snowflake to describe as people but if the shoe fits….

MumCanIHaveASnackPlease · 04/02/2025 21:46

Do you normally look for reasons to be a victim OP?

I think someone's one nugget short of a Happy Meal here.

So now you're literally nugget shaming her.

Poor OP

I am a stone bigger than I would like to be, yes.. but I was just confused why weight was bought into it, he said it like good job he is, as you're not, thats how I saw it. I'm no sure. He didn't have to stretch that far as I moved forward a bit so he could reach

Maybe it’s just not all about you.

Iloveyoubut · 04/02/2025 21:48

I think maybe you’ve felt self conscious with him saying that but he was probably just trying to make light of the fact he was contorting himself to reach the money and if anything it might have been a lighthearted dig at the fact she could have passed the money to you to give to him instead of watching him hang out of the window to get it.

edwinbear · 04/02/2025 21:49

He was having a bit of a giggle with your DD.

No. No. He didn't refer to you at all, only to himself. This is a really unhealthy way to think.

ImthatBoleyngirl · 04/02/2025 21:50

You're projecting your feelings onto someone else.

HebeHerbivore · 04/02/2025 21:50

As if he had enough time to clock your weight and think ‘I know, I’ll show old fatty there, I’ll make a quip about being slim, that’ll teach her’

How do some people make it through the day?

You going to sue McDonald’s OP for hurty feelings?

FrauPaige · 04/02/2025 21:51

Thank god you didn't go and speak to the manager and have this poor server's employment affected

doodahdayy · 04/02/2025 21:51

You're projecting.

MemorableTrenchcoat · 04/02/2025 21:51

So, because he’s slim, and you’re not, you think that if he comments that he’s slim, in the context of contorting to reach something, he’s actually criticising your body? What absolute nonsense.

LittleEar · 04/02/2025 21:51

Wow. Just wow.

You forgot to add the faux concerned, passive aggressive pathetic little ‘are you ok op?’ 🙄

madamweb · 04/02/2025 21:53

I think you are missing the point.
He wasn't talking about you at all

But I do think it was out of order to make him lean out and stretch.

Why not go into the building and get taken out if Dd wants to pay?

Serenandnova · 04/02/2025 21:53

Omg, I doubt it but if Macdonald's is seen as a treat you're not exactly teaching your child about good food, it's an emergency not a treat

SpringBunnyHopHop · 04/02/2025 21:53

You’re projecting.

Unnecessary, it won't do any harm once in a while

It’s a treat if it’s something that someone particularly enjoys.

I'm happy to eat an emergency Big Mac at any time.

Those windows are tiny. An adult handing over money will reach their arm out of car window to help with the transaction. A 5 year old won't be able to do that so he's had to put his arm, shoulder and probably some of his upper body through the window to reach your 5 year olds hand.

Professionally offended springs to mind

Exactly.

Next time get off your arse, go into the restaurant and let her pay without some poor guy contorting himself out a tiny window just so your kid can pay.
