Lucy Letby.....she might actually be innocent?!

I have just watched the full press conference and I'm blown away. There seems to be no actual evidence AT ALL that she killed or injured those babies. This could be one of the biggest miscarriages of justice there has ever been in this country.

OP posts:
AcquadiP · 04/02/2025 22:12

I didn't see the press conference unfortunately. Was anything said about LL being the only member of staff who was on shift when each of the babies died?

wipeywipe · 04/02/2025 22:12

Similarly how can you KNOW she’s innocent??

I don't know, it would be less messy if she was guilty but the conviction has to be sound!!!

Avocando · 04/02/2025 22:01

At the very least it’s weird, unprofessional, intrusive and definitely against Trust Policy.

Given social media is as open or closed as the person wants it to be Im not sure how its intrusive. I wouldnt say its weird.

JandamiHash · 04/02/2025 21:13

Yep. Did you follow the podcast? It’s SO detailed and clearly shows how guilty she is

Lets remind ourselves this was it trial by media - she was found guilty on some counts

Do you have a link to the specific podcast please?

I remember reading an article which showed that other babies had died too when she wasn’t there but they didn’t show those on the chart or something. It might have been part of the NYT article 🤔

Being female helps too. A man would be assumed guilty

Seriously? She was tried and convicted in the court of the press and public opinion before she ever stepped into a court room. I have no idea if she is guilty or not but your statement is ridiculous.

What an utterly ridiculous comment. Have a word with yourself FFS! Hmm

Agree, JandamiHash certainly do need to have a word with themselves, particularly as some of the posts have a clear connotation of racism against white people.
Frankly I could not give a fig about colour and this shit needs to STOP!
If LL is eventually found innocent it’s because evidence proves she is, not because she is white! If the situation remains the same and she is guilty she will remain in prison, again not because she’s white.
JandamiHash take note! Quit the racism speech.

Hard disagree. I followed the trial very closely. She is guilty.

I really do think people’s mindset rests on her looks an ethnicity. If Lucy Letby was a black woman or fat or unattractive, nobody would be protesting her innocence

That is quite an assumption. Did her ethnicity have anything to do with her being found guilty at her trial?

Ridiculous making it about race ffs!

It’s the insulin response that has her banged to rights.

No - today's panel went through that and demolished it

False data from prosecution in the trial.

Wrong measures used for premature baby.

Hospital made errors in treating a child with a common problem, causing their insulin to spike.

Prosecution hadn't tested the mechanism Letby was supposed to have used. Engineers now have. It doesn't work.

There was actually a huge internal movement to cover up the baby death scandal and a real resistance to act on the deaths. It’s only when pushed that directors called the police. There were emails uncovered that actually said they don’t want the reputational risk

It was the police who spotted the pattern with Letby as well

It was Dr Dewi Evans that ‘spotted’ the ‘murders.’ He initially did so from an article he read and then by reviewing the various coroner reports.

He didn’t examine any of the bodies himself. He didn’t request any additional biopsies or toxicology reports. He stood firm in his belief that he could spot what several other very experienced coroners and consultants couldn’t - that many of the deaths were down to air embolisms.

He has since retracted this as a method of killing (as PP have stated, it was always crazy to suggest she’d have managed to inject so many of their air tubes with a syringe and not be caught doing it) but nevertheless, his theory was given a lot of weight in her trial.

If it's Liz Hull, run a mile!

bluedeepdish · 04/02/2025 22:17

I have no idea if Lucy Letby is innocent or guilty, none of us do. However there is a history of medical staff who were convicted for this kind of thing later being found to be innocent and essentially used as a scapegoat for wider failings within a hospital or medical system. Like I say I have no clue if this applies to this particular case but I think all the evidence and opinions should be looked at closely by experts.

I don't agree, I barely noticed what she looked like.

Whatever, she is entitled to appeal her sentence.

Not commenting on the first part, but the second just isn’t true.

The circumstances are different, but if you remember the Dr Hadiza Bawa-Garba manslaughter case, there were loads of people arguing that she’d been unfairly scapegoated for the hospital’s failures and eventually her conviction was overturned and she had her medical licence reinstated. Dr Bawa-Garba is black, Muslim and wears the hijab, so couldn’t really be more different from Lucy Letby on the identity politics front, but she still had people protesting her innocence.

Coolasfeck · 04/02/2025 22:20

Sounds like her supporters have clubbed together to hire a new crack shot defence team and they are trying to turn the tide of public opinion to get people to campaign for a retrial.

You’ll always be able to dredge up people to muddy the waters. I wonder if those campaigning would feel entirely comfortable letting her babysit their babies?

Its like the guy who campaigned for Myra Hindleys release for decades all over again.

OliveThe0therReindeer · 04/02/2025 22:20

Those of you saying that she behaved oddly or looked strange or wrote weird things etc - you have NO IDEA how you would behave if you had been in the same situation. None at all.

One of my children died in hospital ( after a very long illness ) and I had to leave them and drive home to get my other children. On my way home, I stopped at the petrol station to get fuel - is that a normal thing to do ? Is that what you imagine you would do having left your dead child in hospital? Does that make me guilty of something ?

Or was I in fact on autopilot ? And did I have I have a choice, since cars don’t run without fuel and I needed to get home.

Would the staff in the Petrol station ( if questioned months later ) have said they noticed anything odd about me ? Does that fact that I could still drive prove to the rest of you ( who have never been in that position ) that I’m a bad or heartless mother who didn’t love their child? What would my apparently normality prove to all you behavioural experts out there ?

Would I be more or less guilty because I’m white? Or does being fat and ugly make me more innocent ?

Honestly the level of stupidly in some comments on this thread is quite terrifying. Especially since some of you are eligible for jury service ☹️

SpiritAdder · 04/02/2025 22:20

It was the police who spotted the pattern with Letby as well

They were helped along by the hospital only sending them the deaths of babies that had been cared for by Lucy instead of all the deaths.
