I couldn’t see another thread on this but if there is, let me know.

AIBU to be absolutely outraged about the report on the liberation of Auschwitz of GMB without one mention of the fact they were Jewish people who were killed?

What the hell is going on in this country where we can’t even speak of the victims of the greatest atrocity ever taken place in this world?

Jews they were Jews.

I noticed that the banner that one of the hostages was paraded in front of this morning referred to 'Nazi Zionists'. Its Holocaust inversion.

She also got it wrong. I specifically said in the death camps and by the Nazis to allow for the fact that they weren't all slaughtered in the death camps.

I was correct.

You and other PPs were correct, but GMB were not. In a single sentence they made at least four errors which were variously offensive/misleading:

Six million mystery people killed in the camps - no, they were Jews, and only some of them in the camps. Two errors.

Millions of 'others' killed for ... reasons ... - the syntax implies they are not people (self-evidently wrong) or that none of them were in the camps (factually wrong). Two errors.

How is it possible to do such a shoddy job? This wasn't breaking news, reported on the fly. And it's potentially sensitive. Not only Jews but also Romani could justifiably be annoyed.

I think it's obliviousness and callousness rather than hatred, but who knows?

I believe it was absolutely deliberate. I cannot see how it could have been anything but.

How and why do you think that right wing nationalism has arisen in Israel? Israel was founded on broadly socialist principles.

How many times have the Palestinian leadership turned down settlements and two state solutions over the decades? How many intifadas and campaigns of terrorism can any nation tolerate?

You do realise that words have meaning. War is not the exact same thing as genocide. Have you witnessed Israel transporting muslim arabs from around the Middle East into Gaza in cattle trucks - to especially designed gas chambers?

Israel is a modern, democratic country and all citizens have equal rights - and that includeds the 20% of the population that is Arab - Muslim. Everyone has the vote, can sit in the Knesset, and take up any role or profession in society.

Until Hamas and other extremist organisations cease with their jihadi campaign, israel will do what it has to do to secure its borders and defend its citizens. War aims are standard in any conflict but war in and of itself is not genocide.

If genocide is your main concern i take it you have a lot to say about what is going on in Sudan at present, or what has been going on in Northern syria, or any number of other places in the world?

Or maybe you are just on a bandwagon, and when that wagon departs so will you.

Edited
