Is it really that wrong to want for your country what Trump stands for?

I know that there are plenty of threads on Trump at the moment, but most of them are designed to rubbish the guy. That’s been done to death in the last 10 years.

He has still won two presidential elections so perhaps it’s time to move the discussion on a bit.Let’s put aside Trump’s personality, bluster, and whether he will deliver or not, for a second.

Is it really so wrong and bad to want to go for what his core message is? Why is the far right label used so liberally and will we ever see a government in this country which can tackle this madness -

A stop to or huge reduction in illegal immigration

Putting your own country first ahead of internationalism. It’s not a novel idea and certainly not a byword for automatically wanting war. In fact Trump’s argument is that war is bad

Saying no the climate hysteria. Climate change is real but climate emergency seems to be a made up concept to simply tax people to death to re distribute taxes to government lobbyists. Why should people accept being poorer in the name of this dangerous ideology

Putting a stop to woke madness. When did it become ok for state sponsored mutilation of children? Men pretending to be women in prison and hospitals getting access to women’s spaces. People being sanctioned do not using the correct pronouns

Driving the economy forward and putting a stop to endless freebies for those who have no intention of contributing to the system and refuse to work because they are sad.

The fact that someone as eccentric as Trump has to fly the flag for common sense ideas shows you just how batshit the political discourse has become.

I'll say something whether you like or hate Trump the man is shifting gear!. My goodness isn't he 80 😱, he's flying here and there and signing this and that.

What's starmer doing?

I think that’s a terrible thing to wish upon America’s first female president.

“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:
... Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever. I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever...
He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is...

*
Trump has obviously found his mojo;

26 Jan 2025 - The newly-sworn in president was feeding off of the Las Vegas crowd’s energy, cracking jokes like he was holding his own improv show...

The 78-year-old Republican regaled the Circa Resort & Casino crowd with stories and jokes. The way he delivered his remarks fell somewhere in between that of a stand-up comic and a dinner party guest. He paused for laughter like a comedian familiar with timing...

I thought Trump's 'dictator only on day one’ quip was amusing. Has Keir Starmer said 'anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing'?

Colombia says it won’t take its illegals migrants back. Trump bursts Colombia’s bubble within a few hours and Colombia pipes right back down.

In the meantime, Two Tier is running an open borders scheme which puts the Tories debacle to shame. There are 50 relatives day arriving in addition to the asylum seekers.

Here’s the latest gem, Banbury council is offering free driving lessons to asylum seekers. A Jamaican rapist cannot be deported because of youmun rights and another Jamaican drug dealer cannot be deported because they have a trans kid.

A woman caught today because she was taking multiple ‘life in the Uk’ tests so that immigrants can fraudulently get citizenship.

Here is another stat. 70% of Somali immigrants are in social housing. Yes, that’s right. We are bringing people in to give them welfare. Because the country is so flush with money that we can’t spend it fast enough.

And then people wonder why people are turning away from mainstream politicians.

Of course they can. She can feel however she likes. Doesn’t make it true.

You’re very hung up on defending a racist immigrant. Is it only the white immigrants you side with over non-British values?

Facts are racist. Reality is racist.

I tell you that 13% of the population commits 50% of the murders in America, and you call me racist. Since when is a simple fact racist?

I say that 90%+ of the violent crimes in America are committed by males, and I have never been called a misandrist once on here (although MRAs do this LOL)

Goodness. Not doing much to suggest you’re the exception to the ‘racists are thick’ studies.

It’s the interpretation of the facts that’s racist - as I and others have said before - to wit: white school shooters are alienated, but it’s cultural with black people, poverty and structural racism don’t factor.

We’re going round in circles now, so unless you have anything to add, maybe you have a hood to bleach or some beef liver to eat raw?

RingoJuice · 28/01/2025 06:05

It’s the interpretation of the facts that’s racist

white school shooters are alienated, but it’s cultural with black people, poverty and structural racism don’t factor

So post a ‘racist’ interpretation. The above is not a racist interpretation.

And I very pointedly say that poverty is NOT the issue. Not with violent crime. I could concede maybe a link with property crime. Maybe.

maybe you have a hood to bleach or some beef liver to eat raw

I don’t know what you think you’re accomplishing here. It is neither insightful nor terribly clever tbh.

Where did you find all that OP?

I really think it's time you followed Farage and toodled off to the land Trump is making great again, and do please let us know what "great' he was referring to.
In the first week he has:
pardoned the rabble, including ones who had badly injured police men
Cancelled the sanctions Biden put in place to try to control agressive settlers.
Cancelled the block on arms to Israel.
Said that neighbouring countries should take in Gaza, no mention of 2 state.
A week before the inauguration ICE ramped up in anticipation of the sanctioned fun ahead and raided farms. I don't think I need to spell out the consequences of that.
Trump is insisting Minister Budde apologise. Awkward.
Vance actually said 'professors are the enemy'. As an aside Kemi here said she didn't need evidence.
Zuckerberg in an obsequious frenzy declared masculine energy.

I would rather be a 'lefty looney' than a person who spouts bile like you

What is your source for these allegations? The Daily Mail, Daily Express or The Sun?

Do you not believe that there are cases like this? You can just read judges' decisions directly on government websites.

Here's one from 2022 that I picked at random: https://tribunalsdecisions.service.gov.uk/utiac/pa-09869-2018

He's a rapist who dealt large amounts of class A drugs, stole money from his girlfriend, faked British passports, generally lived a life of crime first in Jamaica where he was mixed up with criminal gangs and then in the UK where he overstayed a visitor visa. Spent most of his life here in prison on the taxpayer's dime.

Home Office tries to deport, gets told no by judges because if he goes back to Jamaica he'll be killed by his old gang associates because he owes them money. Which he's stressed and anxious about. So it's article 8 and article 3. This is our problem somehow.

Defend the decisions if you must but don't deny that it's happening.

WHAT IS THIS THREAD! I’ve never seen such a flagrant display of angry racism on mumsnet before. Someone is in a full blown vitriolic rant about asylum seekers; someone else points out that it’s holocaust Remembrance Day and perhaps not the time to whip up anger directed at ethnic minority people and the response is “get over yourself”??

This is the impact of trumps election . Right here on this thread. He’s emboldened the racists.

This is a timely article:
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jan/27/misogyny-identified-as-breeding-ground-for-extremism-in-leaked-report
And it applies across the board, to communities of all races and creeds. Time to revive what feminism truly stands for and shut up the angry little boys out there. Trump - and all the other populists for he is not an isolated case- are sadly using them shamelessly for their own agenda.

Religions - plural- also all play a terrible part in all of this. Men in robes claiming to save your soul provided they wield moral power of you never have the answer!
Here's a quote from Kemal Atatürk, who secularised Turkey in the 20th century: "He is a weak ruler who needs religion to uphold his government; it is as if he would catch his people in a trap. My people are going to learn the principles of democracy, the dictates of truth and the teachings of science. Superstition must go. Let them worship as they will; every man can follow his own conscience, provided it does not interfere with sane reason or bid him against the liberty of his fellow men. . . ."

Misogyny identified as breeding ground for extremism in UK, says leaked report

The ‘manosphere’ and Hindu nationalism were also identified by report commissioned after last summer’s riots

What he really stands for is making incredibly rich men even richer. He doesn't care about any of the above he will say anything to get in power. He is a populist who only cares about his own wealth, status and power.
If saying the absolute opposite to the above had won him vote he would have done it.

True ,same as any elected government really.
