It's not the getting drunk, it's just that the attention-seeking, pointless posting of nonsense on social media when drunk seems a bit pathetic.

This!!!

MumblesParty · 19/01/2025 18:33

JudgeBread · 19/01/2025 18:28

Because no one in the history of time has ever posted on social media for attention 🙄

Maybe go and do something wholesome and worthwhile instead of making sneery comments on funny social media posts if you find it so beneath you?

@JudgeBread bit @KrankyKumquat is right. It’s attention seeking and rather pathetic. Are the only posters permitted on this thread the ones who find people being wasted hilarious? I’ve looked through the MN rules and I can’t find that anyway.

StonewallsPyrrhicvictory · 19/01/2025 18:33

saddo

Haruka · 19/01/2025 18:34

Fresh air. Especially the cold, crisp kind. Wrap up warm because being drunk in the cold can be dangerous, then get your ass outside and take lots of deep breaths. Oxygen helps break down ethanol.

TwilightAb · 19/01/2025 18:34

Some bad advice on here. Don't make yourself sick as you will just be getting rid of your stomach contents, not the alcohol which is working it's way through your liver. Of course if you feel sick then that's different. Please also do not take patacetamol. Mixing it with alcohol is not a good idea. You need water to help with the dehydration and sleep it off. You will most likely have a nasty headache tomorrow which will then be the time for patacetamol.

Globusmedia · 19/01/2025 18:35

Do not take paracetamol with alcohol or for a hangover! Paracetamol stresses the liver and exacerbates the damage from alcohol.

oakleaffy · 19/01/2025 18:35

CharlotteStreetW1 · 19/01/2025 17:38

Don't tell me: you started on the prosecco on an empty stomach?

I don't normally drink alcohol at all, but went to a wedding on the London Eye where they gave champagne to toast the Couple, but you couldn't leave with a glass, it had to be drunk on the actual 'capsule' .

I was taking prescribed opiate painkillers at the time and drank two small flutes of champagne with no food beforehand

When we got off the 'Eye', I was flying- the cold air blowing off the Thames made it worse. 🥴
Thankfully it passed off soon but that was a lesson in how giddy champagne can make one on an empty stomach, and mixed with painkillers.

Didn't get a headache, thank goodness. Soft drinks only after that at the reception.

And I'll say to you what I said to them, people have been posting for attention on social media since it's inception, if you don't like it you don't actually have to be here. No one's got a gun to your head.

And no, you're absolutely permitted to post your opinions, just like I'm permitted to mock you for wasting your time sneering at people on social media when you're literally here posting too. Beautiful place ain't it.

If you’re happy, why are you posting asking for help?

Lifeisgood1 · 19/01/2025 18:40

DO NOT TAKE PARACETAMOL!!! If you've been drinking it can react with the alcohol and increase the risk of liver damage. Yes its rare but it can and does happy and is really shit advise

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 19/01/2025 18:40

Easy mistake to make if you’re not used to drinking. Especially if you have been more used to drinking in the past and tried to do the same but your tolerance is lower. Sleeping it off would be ideal, but if that’s not possible for you at this time of day just sit quietly with something calm on the TV and have a cup of tea. It will wear off eventually.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 19/01/2025 18:41

You asked for help and advice on sobering up 😂

Did you wonder why everyone is offering tips? 😂

Please please update in the morning!

Blimey calm down. millions of people who do this. Alka seltzer xs contains paracetamol and it was always advised to take a sachet before bed and one when you wake up. A pharmaceutical formula specifically designed to deal with the effects of alcohol 😂

Maybe she's so drunk she forgot that, you moon bag 🤣

Kashmiri24 · 19/01/2025 18:44

I think you will be very embarrassed when you wake up tomorrow morning, log onto Mumsnet, click on 'my threads' and see this load of twaddle.

My advice would be a pint of water now, a pint of water on your bedside table, and sleep. And don't drunk post on Mumsnet or any other social media.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 19/01/2025 18:46

Nothing wrong with an adult getting drunk, presuming they're not driving or solely in charge of young children.

When I go out drinking, I always have lucozade sport (at least two bottles) before bed, with a rehydration sachet in one of them. Then the next day another bottle and rehydration sachet and I'm golden.

Tbf, I hate feeling drunk so it's a rarity for me.

I have such a low tolerance that a few sips of lager shandy on a hot day can make my head spin like a tilt a whirl.
It shows what a powerful drug /substance alcohol is.

A professor who used to be an advisor to the government said if alcohol was discovered now, no way would it be legal.

The Muslim Faith has it right, they don't agree with alcohol, but an Iranian friend said opium was used socially instead. {Iran} a few blasts on a vafoor around a charcoal brazier.

LostittoBostik · 19/01/2025 18:47

Have a coffee, eat toast and go for a walk in the cold air outside

Classic drunk behaviour, that’s all. I used to climb on phone boxes, postboxes and wheelybins.

Freesiabritney · 19/01/2025 18:48

God let me never be sad enough to alert Mumsnet that I got pissed 🤣
