To find Philomena Cunk intensely irritating and everything that is wrong with society?

She's like that one irritating twat at the back of the class or on a tour that thinks they are the main character and asks stupid endless irritating questions when everyone else just wants to listen and learn something. They are thinking they're funny and clever but they're annoying and stupid AF.
She's admitted that in real life she finds history and science boring so she just mocks it and talks over educated, interesting people with "jokes" that have been done 100 times and the delinquent knuckle-dragging masses lap it up. Just another example of the media contributing to the dumbing down of society.

I'm sick of people saying she's "brilliant". No, professor Brian Cox is brilliant. Diane Morgan's idiotic character is just some knob sat there asking stupid questions to one of those most fascinating people on TV who pretty much has all the answers to life. It's depressing that people like her tbh.

It's very easy NOT to watch the Philomena Cunk shows. Very easy.

So why the hate?

They're fun.

I didn't mind her at first but I think the joke has been far too overdone. The Christmas special was at least half an hour too long, I switched off way before the end.

Well, thanks to you starting this thread OP, I have just watched Cunk on Life, and I can't wait to watch the other ones.

I saw a review of a TV programme, filmed in Stratford on Avon, in which the learned reviewer described it as "Full of mock Tudor buildings". Hmm. And she wished to be taken wholly seriously. Long live Miss Cunk, the personification of 'embrace my ignorance. I insist on it'.

I love everything about Philomena Cunk, except for Pump Up the Jam.

For some reason I find it embarrasssing.

We don’t know what Shakespeare did with his lost years but we do know he spent a lot of time staring out of diamond paned windows and writing with a feather.

I can't stand her programme but "knuckle dragging masses" is just nasty and probably worse than anything she has said.

As for Brian Cox being brilliant, he's no better than any other professor of physics (we have several in the family), he just has better PR.

I mentally filed her under the same heading as Mrs Browns Boys or whatever it is called as annoying within a minute of watching and turned off. Maybe i've missed something, unless everyone who likes her is into the same type of stuff? It felt akin to weaponised incompetence to me and I cringed at the people wasting their time thinking they were going to share actual knowledge.

This is the least unreasonable an OP has ever been. I cant watch her.

Why do you think so many of the experts came back for a second go if they thought they were wasting their time? A lot of them have been in more than one series.

I cringed at the people wasting their time thinking they were going to share actual knowledge.

@NordicwithTeen I'm cringing for you as you don’t seem to have understood the premise of the show. Just like the OP. They academics KNOW this is a spoof. They are very much choosing to “waste their time”

@Scautish & @TheCountessofFitzdotterel I only managed about 5mins of the first episode and I am fairly sure the guy was quite frustrated with her and had no idea what he had been set up for. As I said, I filed it under "painful to watch" so don't know if now it's popular they all know/go on multiple times. It wasn't fun for me.

This is so not funny! How she's had so many series is questionable like a lot of the BBC decisions. This has been done before but in a much more humourous way (ie Sacha Baron Cohen). On this the so-called experts are acting and cringe worthy. The one-liners are awful and it reminds me how many current female comedians are so weak especially in stand-up relying on crude language and sex and the menopause and having children and bashing men mainly. intelligent female humour this Cunk is not!

I’ve never watched a full episode though, but I do enjoy the snippets that I see and the experts trying to struggle through her questions.

I like Diane Morgan in Motherland.

Her programme Mandy though….i can’t watch that. I just find it unfunny and can’t stand the lip curl thing she does as that character.
