Bonniethecat1 · 12/01/2025 01:03

I have found out my DD is in sexual relationship with a man who turned 50 in August and she is not far off turning 25.. I think he is using her and how can I convince her to stop seeing him, she actually has admitted feelings for him, aibu to think this is so wrong? I can't stand this.

Lesser age -attracted filthy pervs should be isolated from society.

What in the MN insanity is this?

A 25 year old is firmly an adult.

You keep using my MN name like you're making a point that I'm a man. It just makes you look stupid.

It really is strange.

BeAzureAnt · 12/01/2025 20:38

Maybe she likes older men. She’s an adult.

Yep, it gets more and more batshit on here every day 😁

TiredCatLady · 12/01/2025 20:39

It’s fucking hanging but, seriously, leave her to it and let it end in tears… 20 somethings can be awfully bloody minded when challenged.

You say he’s going through a divorce and I hate to be that person, but how long has this thing with your daughter been going on?

shuggles · 12/01/2025 20:39

@Wildwalksinjanuary All the guys are on here now! Horrified that they are not sex symbols after alll! That they have a whole host of health and physical issues that might not be attractive to someone their kids age.

It sounds as if you live on a different planet. The majority of men are well aware that they are very ugly, which is why men rarely bother too much with their appearance, or try to use their appearance to get ahead in the dating game.

Wildwalksinjanuary · 12/01/2025 20:39

Take a detour to the retirement village, around here they start at 55 and ask her how she feels about this being her ‘first home’

If you can time it with any carers arriving in uniform, all the better. A visual reminder for her of what is to come.

When I was in my 20s I dated a guy in his 40s for a bit. We used to chat in the smoking area at work and realised we had a lot in common. He asked me out for dinner one day and I thought fuck it why not. He wasn’t some creepy perv or crinkly old guy. Just a man who’d met a woman he liked and took a shot.

Dating him was nicer than guys my own age at the time, he had his life together, had his own place and was more mature. Way less selfish in bed as well and knew what he was doing. I enjoyed the novelty of dating an older man.

Unfortunately the novelty wore off as he gradually started reminding me of my dad. Things like how he’d dress and his attitude towards some stuff. I got what’s now called the ick! The difference in energy levels and how we spent our free time also became a problem. It was nice while it lasted and I just wanted to show that not all age difference relationships are seedy or one person taking advantage of another. And it might only be short lived.

Not seedy sleeping with a guy old enough to be your dad????? Wow

It doesn't make them look stupid, they ARE stupid. If they insist on taking your username literally, you're actually a lemon, not a human at all 😂

Who the fuck is going into a retirement home at 55? I mean that's more than a decade before anyone even gets to retire now.

The lemon of a fictional character no less 🤣

Are some middle-aged women just wild with rage that their own dating pool is being shrunk by having competition from younger women, but they don't want to admit it, so they're trying to frame it as disgusting?

Because I thought it was mostly the Gen Zers that were insane about age gap relationships.

Sassybooklover · 12/01/2025 20:43

Realistically how long is a relationship with a 25 year age gap, likely to last?! Probably not long. Therefore, let the relationship run its course. By all means let your daughter know, you're not overly happy by the relationship but the bigger the fuss you make, the further you will push her towards him. At some point, she will decide for herself that the relationship isn't right for her. I know it's hard as a parent, but your daughter has to make her own mistakes and learn by them. We can't protect them from everything in life.

I'm reminded of that Peter Kay advert to his mum 😁
"Time to go into a home."
"You what? Are you mad?! I'm 57!'
"Yeah, well, I want to put a snooker table in your room and your 'tache is scaring the kids." 🤣

No. Middle aged women just find it creepy that 50yr old men wants a 25yr old girlfriend.

Why is it seedy to sleep with a decent person the same age as your parent if the sexual attraction is there? It’s not like I was sleeping with my actual dad!

CurlewKate · 12/01/2025 20:48

@H2025 "Why do you think it's so wrong? They are both adults"

Because there is a 26 year age difference.

Is the 25 year old not an adult in their own right?
Do they not get a say in what they do or don't want?!

No

They are all but children and men who fancy them are repressed nonce's

Obviously 😒

Apparently not on MN. So much for celebrating grown women and their agency.
