Do you do it?

Do you make your Dc do it?

Yes and yes, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t wash their hands before eating.

LouisvilleSlugger · 11/01/2025 16:57

No. I only wash my hands after the loo or if they have dirt on them. Same for my kids when they were small.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/01/2025 16:58

Yes

LauraNorda · 11/01/2025 16:59

I don't wash my hands except after doing a poo.

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 11/01/2025 16:59

Dc when young, yes, no idea where little hands have been. Mine, depends. I'm a teacher, so see first point. Aside from that, I use my adult judgement (or cutlery).

Eugh.
Not even after a wee?

I thought I was grubby.

Crazycatlady79 · 11/01/2025 17:02

Nope.

TheGoogleMum · 11/01/2025 17:02

Only if I think my hands might not be clean. I always wash after using toilet or changing a nappy.
I don't make my kids wash their hands before eating but I probably should!

UnNiddeRides · 11/01/2025 17:03

No

Do you flush the toilet after doing a wee? If yes, the handle will have the same germs from poo wiping that you want to wash off after a poo so you might as well not bother washing after a poo either.

If you don't flush after a wee, you might have a point, although I would still consider it very unhygienic not to wash after a wee.

coxesorangepippin · 11/01/2025 17:03

Of course

Lovelysummerdays · 11/01/2025 17:05

I do at home but thinking about it I don’t tend to wash hands before I eat when out and about. So if I went to a restaurant I wouldn’t nip off to loo before I ate to wash.

Trifficultly · 11/01/2025 17:06

All wash hands after being in the bathroom. If we've come in from out and about somewhere and are then sitting down to eat then we'd also wash hands. But if we've been at home and it's likely everyone recently washed their hands anyway then no... I also wash mine before prepping the food so wouldn't do it again before eating unless they were messy from cooking/I'd handled raw meat.

orangewasp · 11/01/2025 17:06

No. I did make my children when they were young.

biscuitsandbooks · 11/01/2025 17:07

No, I don't. I don't have DC.

AdoraBell · 11/01/2025 17:07

Yes, unless I’m cooking. I always wash my hands after cooking as well as during cooking depending on the ingredients- example, chop onions, wash hands and board to stop eyes watering, chop meat/chicken, wash hands, carry on and wash hands before dishing up just in case.

I taught DDs to wash their hands before earning a f they still do it. We met for lunch in a pub today, I washed my hands before going to the table and both DDs washed their hands before the food arrived.

TangerineClementine · 11/01/2025 17:07

No and no. I know we theoretically should but I've just never got into the habit.

ExtraOnions · 11/01/2025 17:08

Not unless I’m eating with my hands … I normally use a knife and fork, so hands don’t go near the food

Tiptopshapeop · 11/01/2025 17:09

Yes and same for DC. Pretty gross not to.

ApolloandDaphne · 11/01/2025 17:09

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Depends where I am, if I have cooked or not, what was doing before hand.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 11/01/2025 17:10

No. I wash my hands after doing things that make them dirty, not before doing things. I never made my dc do it either.

WilmerFlintstone · 11/01/2025 17:11

Always and throughout the day too.

Yes and same for DC. Pretty gross not to.

Why is it 'gross'? What do you think is going to happen?

Tiptopshapeop · 11/01/2025 17:09

Yes and same for DC. Pretty gross not to.

Why is it gross if you're using cutlery?

KungFuSock · 11/01/2025 17:12

Yes and yes; i have a habit of hand washing anyway, which was exacerbated by work (clinical
Role)- alcohol rub and washing between patients left me with very sore hands.
