The Rape and Grooming scandal is blowing up on twitter/social media and the extent of the scandal is actually mind boggling. Apparently up to 250,000 girls may have been affected 😱

This initially shocked me but when I thought of it, although I’m based in a rural area I know of two girls who have been caught up in it - one of whom in my class at school was raped in a park aged around thirteen and another family friends daughter found naked in a room with a group of adult men at the age of 14 and was blamed for leading them all on. Those living in towns/cities must see so much more of this?!

I’ve also heard today that Pakistan is willing to take back criminals convicted in the Uk of these crimes (UK-Pakistan Prisoner treaty agreement) and has been for a number of years but we’re not sending them back. I know not all perpetrators are Pakistani and not all Pakistani men are capable of such evil (and I work with plenty of decent Pakistani men), but of those who are convicted and born there why on earth are they still here in the UK if we can remove them as a danger from our society and their home country is willing to take them?

In have two daughters and I’m honestly terrified for their future given this significant threat to young girls in this country. It seems like no one cares enough to rock the boat.

YABU - No they should remain here and we should deal with it
YANBU - They should be sent back

I know for a fact that many Muslim preachers point out that sex crimes are wrong and un-Islamic. But it is neither widely reported nor particularly effective in encouraging criminals not to be criminals.

The Sky data isn't very helpful as half of the perpetrators are children;

Children aged 10-17 accounted for 48% of group-based abuse suspects, while adult perpetrators made up 43%. One in ten suspects of group-based child abuse were aged under 10.

The Sky article also says this;

The ethnicity of perpetrators and victims was only recorded in 29% of cases, and we also know many cases are not recorded at all.

I do actually believe the majority were sadly born here and are British-Pakistani, but my question was if they were born abroad and convicted then why are they still here when we have treaties in place? There are several members of the Rotherham rapists who have since being released that should have been deported but haven’t (Qari Abdul Rauf for starters, the gang leader).

For those asking for sources for my earlier comment regarding Blair/Brown, I dare you to watch this South Yorkshire review in full and see what you think and tell me I’m definitely wrong for thinking the police were at best turning a blind eye, or worse still, complicit in what was going on.

How many convicted are foreign nationals that haven't been deported?

I don't know the British/Pakistani split.

BTW you've fallen victim to othering. If you look really hard at their skin colour, you might just forget that they are all, once again men.

Sometimes it just has to be said.

https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-35353310

But really it needs to come from inside the communities.

So community leaders from ethnic communities need to explain to members of their own community that child rape is a bad idea?

Can't remember anyone telling me(white male) that child rape is a bad thing, maybe that's why white males are overrepresented in the child rape statistics.

I blame the parents.

I'm sorry if you think I was virtue signalling, that's absolutely not my attention. Of course I blame the police, councils etc for what has happened, the cover ups are unforgivable. I'm not going to try to explain my point any further as I don't want to offend anyone.

Not wanting to offend anyone is precisely the issue. Oh no let’s not offend the rapists cause they are not white. Who gives a fuck when vulnerable CHILDREN are being abused.

As a poc, this woke nonsense is getting absurder and absurder

Agree, but if the parents don’t tell them, then someone needs to.

What are you wanting here? Us to deal with criminality for all?

We won’t be able to influence cultural differences and laws in many countries

Can we start again as I think we actually agree?

I don't care what colour, religion etc. the rapists are, they need to be arrested and given the strongest sentence possible. The same applies to those who have participated in the cover ups, there are no excuses. Pussyfooting around all of these people in the name of community relation has meant the abuse is continuing and as you say children are being abused.

My apologies if you thought I was defending anyone involved for any reason.

Children in the UK certainly deserve protection from foreign grooming gangs yes which is what we're discussing here. Would you rather they continue to be sacrificed what in order of fairness to other children?!

It's a good thing that that is happening only in your imagination then.

He probably said what he believed to be true at the time - plus how many people have seen the correction?

Everyone on this thread, including those repeating the lie, for a start.

I’m so so sorry, I read your comment and incorrectly thought it was sarcastic 🤦🏻‍♀️ I take it back!

Edited

I was a bit shocked. I know MN can be a brutal place which is why I genuinely wanted to applaud you. My brain was fried by the thread earlier this week, full of posters who want to deflect attention away from this scandal on the basis that white men rape too.

No. The Jay report made it clear that fears of racial tension contributed towards the police's failure to act. This has been public for a very long time.

Precisely. But according to the pp it’s all in my head

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 11/01/2025 13:54

@BallerinaRadio I think it's pretty obvious how this thread will go. Someone will be along shortly to explain how they're not racist, but ...

There's been an awful lot of these threads recently

I find it really shocking that we have reached a point the where OP using a phrase such as 'send them back' is not classed as hate speech and causing outrage.

Should there be harsh penalties for sex offenders and paedophiles? Of courses, no one is arguing with that. The authorities need to take the severest measures against all perpetrators and ensure safeguarding does it's job.

But it is not ok to conflate sex offenders with a particular ethnic group/ race. Sadly, there are plenty of child abusers from all races.

As for 'sending them back'... Where do you propose sending people born in the UK to?

I mean, going back 2 generations my partner's family are Irish. If he commits a crime should he be randomly put on a plane to Ireland.

Sorry but this is racism dressed up as concern for young people.

Children in the UK certainly deserve protection from foreign grooming gangs yes which is what we're discussing here. Would you rather they continue to be sacrificed what in order of fairness to other children?!

But they're mostly not foreign. They're mostly British born. It's the conflation of crime and immigration that is so wrong on this thread. These men are for the most part British born. The ones who aren't can be deported, the law to do that already exists.

bradfordisdamned · 11/01/2025 17:55

There is too much whataboutery going on here, as usual.

We know white men are fucking awful.

Men are fucking awful in general.

We should be able to call out behaviour and WE ARE SO GIVE THE DERAILING A FUCKING REST.

Parts of this country have a major problem with grooming gangs from the Pakistani community, but people bang on about BUT WHITE MEN THIS WHITE MEN THAT

WE KNOW. STOP DERAILING.

onwardsup4 · 11/01/2025 17:59

@pointythings were talking about the Pakistani grooming gangs some are British Pakistani yes some will be immigrants

bradfordisdamned · 11/01/2025 18:06

Oh and statements from the relevant communities are irrelevant when they aren't doing enough to deal with the revolting perverts.

We thankfully have vigilante groups acting where the police are failing hard, they have done more to take down white paedophiles than the actual authorities ever do.

Enquiries aren't even getting us anywhere , we need ACTION, especially when the police and social services are in on it. Corruption in positions of power has a lot to answer for.

Now what are we going to do about it?

pointythings · 11/01/2025 18:08

onwardsup4 · 11/01/2025 17:59

@pointythings were talking about the Pakistani grooming gangs some are British Pakistani yes some will be immigrants

And the majority won't be, so I question anyone who uses the term 'foreign grooming gangs'. Because it is inflammatory.

I refer you back to my post earlier in this thread, which suggests focusing less on ethnicity and the incitement of hatred and more about actually doing something to fix the problem. And yes, that includes deportation for foreign born criminals, lengthy prison sentences for British born criminals and actually addressing the root causes that make young girls vulnerable to grooming by gangs - poverty, family breakdown, inequality. But we can't do that because that would be - gasp - woke!
