Where does all the stuff go??

I lost my car/house keys at the weekend. They are on the same bunch, I drove home, let myself in the house. Went to lock up that evening and couldn't find them anywhere. I still haven't found them and I have turned this house upside down. Along with the obvious places, like under the sofa, down the back of the coffee table etc, Ive also emptied the bin, searched though the washing, looked in the freezer, searched the garage, if it can move, ive moved it. If theres a gap, ive searched it - nothing!

ive lost stuff in the past that ive never found, even when moving, they've never turned up.

Where are my keys? And were does all the stuff go?

I found them!!!

Behind a cushion on the sofa. I checked and cleared the cushions more than once.

Even hoovered the whole sofa about a week before finding them.

That would be the house pixies having a bit of fun.

Reckon it's been in a cushion cover somehow, hiding, and it's popped back out.

This is bizarre!!

My mum used to wear an eternity ring of my Nan's ( her Mum). My mum got cancer and the ring became too big and she lost it. Looked everywhere for it - Mum lives alone in a one bedroom flat - and it never turned up.
About 18 months later, I took Mum out shopping and when we got back to her flat, there was the ring, sitting in the middle of a cushion on the settee. We both just stood staring at it!
No explanation.....

That's just bizarre 😱

Reading this thread gives me hope, that it's not just me going gaga

I gave my son a tag for his keys with a small buzzer thing control kept by the phone. If he knows the keys are in the house, he can press the control button and the tag on the key makes a really loud noise

Look in the refrigerator and your utensil drawers.

Found a bank card behind a radiator once, years after I lost it. Look there for
lost things!

I’ve lost both of my credit cards somewhere in the house, and I need one to put the deposit on a hire car next week (the only thing I ever use them for). I haven’t used either of them since the last time I went away in October.

I have searched everywhere I can think of!!

Try behind radiators. Thats where I found mine years later!

ChangingHistory · 11/02/2025 23:23

Keys are usually in the outside of the door or in my coat pocket. Apparently most people only have enough bandwidth to open the door and get themselves inside and put keys away. If you add to that a crying child or the postie a costing you or spotting an interesting letter on the doormat you are screwed.

DH and I spent several minutes searching for the teapot which lives either next to the kettle or in the tea cupboard. We have one straight pretty clear run of kitchen surface so it wasn't there nor in the tea cupboard. I left the room for a minute and returned to find him searching the plates cupboard with the teapot next to the kettle. Asked what he was looking for, still the teapot. There is no way we could both have missed it next to the kettle.
