Where does all the stuff go??

I lost my car/house keys at the weekend. They are on the same bunch, I drove home, let myself in the house. Went to lock up that evening and couldn't find them anywhere. I still haven't found them and I have turned this house upside down. Along with the obvious places, like under the sofa, down the back of the coffee table etc, Ive also emptied the bin, searched though the washing, looked in the freezer, searched the garage, if it can move, ive moved it. If theres a gap, ive searched it - nothing!

ive lost stuff in the past that ive never found, even when moving, they've never turned up.

Where are my keys? And were does all the stuff go?

Is the lining of your bag ripped? Could they have gone in there?

Have you checked the fridge? Bottom drawer?

Have you checked the fridge? Bottom drawer?

I have checked everywhere. Honestly, if it can be moved, ive moved it,

Its a bunch of keys, house key and a car key, the key card type, has a couple of keys rings on - oh, and a trolley coin, forgot about that...they are quite a bunch, not something that could easily be missed, but I have checked obvious places, and less obvious places, Ive even looked in places that would be too small to hide a bunch of keys

I do wonder if my stuff ends up in another dimension. 😂

I think its the only explanation at this point

Pray to Saint Anthony that's what they do in these parts can you also pray for my 2 lost pen drives the contents of which I should have moved to one drive ages ago

Youtookmyhandle · 09/01/2025 23:38

@bleepingbleepybleep Maybe another version of you has ended up with an extra set of keys and is now asking MN why she has a duplicate?

bleepingbleepybleep · 09/01/2025 20:32

Yes, but everyone knows about the void in the washing machine - 😂

The Washing Machine Sock Void spits them out about a year later, by which time its previous partner has disappeared into the Bottomless Drawer Of Things That Might Come Into Their Own One Day (BDOTTMCITOOD).

Many years ago, I'd had a stressful morning at work, came home to an empty house at lunch time, usual routine, came in, flicked the kettle on, dug my cigs and lighter out of my bag, put them on the top of the fridge, which was about 5ft high, took my bag in the lounge. Came back, made a coffee, went to grab my cigs to go sit outside with my coffee... Gone! Tipped my bag out, in case I thought I'd taken them out and hadn't, not there! Searched all downstairs and even went upstairs, even though I hadn't been up there since coming in... Not a sign! Every time I passed the fridge, I looked for them. Still not there! Went up to the loo and as I was coming back down, I said loudly, ok, the joke's over, put my cigs back please. Walked into the kitchen, there they were on top of the fridge!!! It still baffles me to this day! I have 2 skirting board fairy doors and I did wonder... 🤣🤣🤣

Watervoles · 09/01/2025 23:47

Back garden if you let the dogs out?
Where you keep the poo bags?
Did you miss your bag when you were putting them into it? At what point in the house do you usually slip them into your bag? Search thoroughly around there.
A kitchen cupboard? Fridge? Dog food bin? Dog treat box?

Origamiheaven · 09/01/2025 23:50

Ask St Anthony

MoonWoman69 · 09/01/2025 23:51

Oh! And my one of my best friends, who lives in NZ, never ever has cash on him, only his card. He has no change whatsoever.
He'd been out, came home and went to get changed. As he took his short sleeved shirt off, which had no pockets, a coin fell from his shirt onto the bed!!! He was totally baffled! Someone in another universe will have been saying, where's that coin I just had gone?! He's kept the coin but still has no idea where it appeared from!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 09/01/2025 23:58

My mum usually sings a rhyme in Spanish to St. Honorato and ties a cloth which is not supposed to be untied until the thing appears.

I have lost a make up palette, a taekwondo dobok, a handback and a Benefit lipgloss that I honestly don’t know where it is.

Obviously, countless socks and the numbers increase every month.

As for the keys, maybe you left them in the front door.

Were you with someone when had keys when you entered your home? Might be under your car, inside the car in between the seats, maybe in a pocket in your coat. Where you carrying other things in your hands perhaps??

I'm missing several things. Most irritating would be socks. A friend bought me a really nice pair of bamboo socks. I wore them and washed them. There was only one in the machine when the washing had finished. The machine has been checked over and the filter emptied and its not there.
Nor is the other sock I lost. Treated myself to a pair of silly print socks. Same thing- wore them, washed them and one vanished.

I once stripped the bed and put two pillowcases in the machine and one came out.

Much weirder though was all the other things which went missing in the flat. Most strange was that I had a branded work polo top and I knew I had to get up early for an event so had the top laid out at the foot of my bed. Well, it was gone in the morning and was never seen again, not even after we moved out (none of the missing things turned up, there were many). I had to request a new work top, and when asked what had happened to it I said it had been spirited away to a parallel dimension.

that was a weird flat all round though.

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 10/01/2025 00:12

I’m sorry this is no use but I’ve lost things that have turned up months or years later. It’s really weird

Delphiniumandlupins · 10/01/2025 00:55

I once found my missing-for-several-days keys in my peg bag. Only then did I remember arriving home as it started to rain and rushing through the house to fetch washing in (obviously still with keys in hand). So, meticulously retrace your steps as you came in.

However, that has not helped to find the balloon whisk which disappeared from a kitchen drawer months ago. We had visitors around the same time and I initially thought it had just been put in the wrong drawer but it's never turned up.

GogAndMagog · 10/01/2025 01:02

Well it's the Borrowers obviously! 😊

SheSaidHummingbird · 10/01/2025 01:57

@bleepingbleepybleep Are they still in the lock, on the exterior side of the door?

ObelixtheGaul · 10/01/2025 02:09

I once lost a lovely watch my husband bought for me. After turning the house upside down, I came to the conclusion I'd left it in the place we stayed on holiday. That was the last time I wore it.

A few years later, our cat was sick under our bed. I went to clean it up and found the watch! I looked under the bed at the time, and had cleaned under the bed since. How on earth did I not see it until that moment?

I happened on one of those reels that turn up unbidden on Facebook. It showed someone taking the back panel off a washing machine and the cavity around the drum had loads of socks in it. If you think about it, it's easy to see how they could get there.

tolerable · 10/01/2025 03:01

in a pocket?

aramox1 · 10/01/2025 03:32

Car keys: next to the toilet or in a random coat
House keys: on ds 19's floor

LyricalGangsta · 10/01/2025 07:08

Before Xmas, DS got soaked in the rain so put his brand new backpack and shower jacket in the drier.
Took them out when dry, put the jacket on back of dining chair, backpack on the seat. Backpack disappeared completely.
No one else in the house needs/uses a back pack so didn't take it. Just gone.

Auburngal · 10/01/2025 07:21

I had that with socks. I put a load of washing on a few weeks ago. Couldn't find one of the socks. In the meantime, put the single sock in a drawer. I put on two other loads and no sock.

Then on the 3rd load I did, on opening the door, the other sock fell out. This was even with me rotating the drum several times.
