To think that Musk is now overstepping himself and the UK gvt should threaten action

Musk has just posted this on twitter (among other unhinged tweets). To me this reads as a thinly veiled threat to democratically elected UK MPs and actually the UK government should consider sanctions to the US if he continues this attack when he enters the White House?

Pup the other one, it has a bell on it. There is NO automatic deportation. EHRC trumps all.

There’s a limited right to appeal, just like with any other immigration case. Automatic deportation is literally written into the U.K. Borders Act 2007.

Labour really can’t complain about foreigners stating their opinions when they went over to the States to campaign for Kamala.

Their authoritarian ’rules for thee, but not for me’ mindset.

The hypocrisy is staggering.

As is the hypocrisy from all the posters on here, after the thousands of threads we’ve had here commenting on Trump

Labour really can’t complain about foreigners stating their opinions when they went over to the States to campaign for Kamala.
They weren't they pretty much said nothing about it until Musk tweets got to a point that they felt they were putting individual mps safety at risk. That is not complaining about foreigners having opinions that is raising concern about incitement, two very different things.

Populism is now in motion. Look back to how this plays out. Unless we have a Government that dampens this down it will only rise. Musk, Trump, Farage and others across Europe are in full swing. It will take an alternative to Musk et al to stop this...oh wait we had Biden, Macron and now we have Starmer( fuel to the fire IMO) to sort this. Boris did try to sppeal to masses but he wasn't strong enough. I think he did have an understanding of the wider implications of Populism.

Edited

But dampening it down how? Stamer is so cack handed and thin skinned, he’ll try to stamp it out and simply enrage the masses.

Was organised by the Labour Party - kind of was official.

Advertised on LinkedIn by the Labour Head of Operations.

Can't get much more official than that.

klimtchakra · 07/01/2025 08:06

I suspect there's going to be a rather large falling out between Trump & Musk in the next 6-12 months so not sure sanctioning the US will be needed.

DarkJanuaryMornings · 07/01/2025 08:09

Labour activists went to campaign for the Democrats, so we essentially interfered in American politics, so it’s fair enough for Americans to comment on UK politics.

The issue really should NOT be about Elon. The real issue is why did politicians, police and counsellors allow the systematic abuse and violence of children. The truth if you are sincere about it is “the vote bank” of those communities.

All that is required for evil to prevail if for otherwise good people to look the other way. Labour did not look the other way; they actively participated in the cover up.

All children are precious. Starmer has violated fundamental principles of humanity.

The issue is how many ignorant members of mumsnet there who don't realise an extensive investigation took place and recommendations made, and this Government is trying to get them put in place because the last one did fuck all.

Absolutely nothing to do with Starmer and he's right not to pander to stupid Elon Musk fan boys and girls by wasting the publics money on something that has already been done.

I don’t think it will take as long as six months - Trump won’t share power particularly as he’s going to be busy taking Panama, Greenland and Canada!

The Tories needed to go as well. Both World Economic Forum parties and neither have our best interests at heart.

Andrew Tate has said he’s going to be the British PM !

I don't think anyone even labour have an issue with outsiders commenting on UK politics. Have a read of Musks tweets and his offensive statements about individual mps. The only thing labour has said on the matter is in relation to their concern for individual mps safety. They have not complained that Musk has an opinion. You need to actually read and listen to what they are saying. Most of the criticism about Musk interference has been from other commenters and the media, not labour.

Yes, I think Musk is more combative, has a sense of humour and doesn’t shower people with praise. Trump is more sensitive to criticism and can’t laugh at himself. There’s a danger Musk could deeply offend Trump.

ButterCrackers · 07/01/2025 08:14

Perhaps he could mention as well the tainted blood scandal still not resolved with terrible injustice. This needs sorting out and Elon Musk could bring it to the forefront.

LizzieSiddal · 07/01/2025 08:16

According to a reporter I heard yesterday on LBC, these outbursts, which are being directed at the UK and Germany, is a ploy to get more users on Twitter. Musk borrowed 40 billion to buy it. Advertisers are leaving in droves and it isn’t making the money to cover the borrowings.
Also one of the 20 recommendations of the inquiry into the grooming gangs was that social media owners should be made responsible for any CSA images in their platform. He doesn’t want that (although he could easily remove these images,) so he’s stalling by asking for ANOTHER inquiry.

Dint be fooled into thinking he’s bothered about CSA because he’s in one of the best positions in the world to do something about it but he’s chosen to do fuck all.

Let’s hope so. My friends and I have a bet as to how long it will be before there is a massive fall out. I think 3 months.

When any of these men care about women's and girls' safety NO MATTER WHO IS RAPING THEM I'll believe it's not xenophobia and racism. But none of them, not Robinson, not Musk, certainly not Trump cares if it's white men raping.

Get better at locking up rapists. Deporting them just means that other girls and women are bing raped. And they are my sisters.

Musk on abortion and contraception tells you all you need to know about his actual views on women's rights.

Agree with every word.

💯

and I very much doubt the advertisers will be rushing back any time spoon after all these outbursts. With any luck it will mark the beginning of the end of toxic sites such as twitter.

Delete X. Properly delete data kill account delete.

Don't repost his nonsense.

This is my form of protest. Don't be part of anything that puts money in his pocket. Don't give his horrific views any more attention. He craves the attention, even negative.

Actually I am grateful for this information. Why a foreign born rapist should not be deported is extraordinary to me

That was my first thought but I'm in agreement with Mrs TerryPratchett - these rapists would be deported and free to rape our sisters in other countries? Would they even face trial there?

It doesn't sit right with me to just deport these men without knowing what happens to them - I don't give a fuck about the rapist but I do care if they're a danger to other women and girls in other countries.

We need a better justice system that properly protects us. I 100% support deportation but only if that process guarantees that they face criminal charges in their own country.

Actually finding it a bit fascinating.

Purely from a political theory...

The thing is the Overton window has been pushed quite far to one side, and some of what he said is probably designed to be shocking yes but to push it back the other way a bit.

Hi. Can you please explain what you mean?

People are asking for independent enquiries into the specific councils aren’t they? The public enquiry was not specifically about these areas, but a broader national enquiry encompassing all types of CSE. I agree everyone needs to get on with implementing the recommendations.

But, I think people are angry, and want those who failed the girls and turned a blind eye to be held accountable, which is different to the objectives of the national inquiry.

I personally don’t see what it will achieve, no one will be held accountable and the result will just be ‘Yes they fucked up, but lessons will be learned’.

Being effective politicians and doing their jobs.

The space for the right is created by the vacuum caused by the lefts willful negligence.
