To think that Musk is now overstepping himself and the UK gvt should threaten action

Musk has just posted this on twitter (among other unhinged tweets). To me this reads as a thinly veiled threat to democratically elected UK MPs and actually the UK government should consider sanctions to the US if he continues this attack when he enters the White House?

I don't care who raises this sordid issue so long as it keeps being raised. Those girls deserve better from their elected and appointed officials.

I hope this stays in the news until local politicians and senior officers in those areas have all been shamed into being wholly honest about their conduct.

I’m waiting for Elon’s bots to infiltrate this and talk to us about the thousands (yep, comment I received on a previous thread) of girls being SA and more by the foreigners.
He’s dangerous, he’s racist and complete deluded megalomaniac idiot.
Also,, have a look at replies to me from random accounts telling me to think of the girls while the return the us to the Middle Ages. It’d be fun.

’Thousands’ is not hyperbole, sadly:

“No one knows the true scale of child sexual exploitation (CSE) in Rotherham over the years. Our conservative estimate is that approximately 1,400 children were sexually exploited over the full inquiry period.”

(Source: Alexis Jay, Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation in Rotherham, 2014)

That’s just one town, and the report was a decade ago. There are at least 30 towns involved.

True that not all the perpetrators are foreigners (most in Rotherham were British Pakistani), but large numbers have been.

Minimising the scale of this is not the right way to go.

We’ve had the investigations - we now need to get on with action. Attention needs to be on police in particular - how they respond and what action they take. And for Conservatives to try to turn this into a party political point is truly disgusting. Would they like to discuss exactly what their administrations have done over the last 14 years? Keir Starmer and Jess Phillips are not at the top of my list of ineffective politicians on the safety of women and girls.

And no, we’re not going to sanction the US - but I would hope that quiet words will be had by diplomats as the Trump administration takes office. I also think it probably won’t be long before Trump decides he’s had enough of another big ego in the White House.

Almn0etd · 07/01/2025 07:00

Eh?

And what can this pathetic government do? Are they going to go and kneel in front of Trump and beg him to deport Musk to face court?

Let’s see if they can beg him to spare tarrifs first.

You seem to have some weird misconceptions that as a country we are strong enough to do anything.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Chinese were laughing at us when their diplomat openly said that UK should stay in its lane, it’s an increasingly declining irrelevant little island getting ideas above its station.

Trump advisor called the UK ambassador a moron just a few weeks ago. That’s the labour ‘grandee’ Peter Mandelson who orchestrated nu Labour coming to power. They are laughing at the ambassador publicly.

Musk is publicly humiliating this government publicly every day and there is not a thing they can do about it.

Oh how far this country has fallen.

He is extremely dangerous.

This what happens when we as humans allow greed and money to accumulate to such a degree that people then have the power to buy the media and influential figures to manipulate humankind for their own agenda.

Can you direct me to where you've said the same about Bill Gates or George Soros et al? Musk is one of a long line of interfering billionaires. But I don't recall seeing a single post about this, let alone several threads a day hysteria. The myopic ignorance people reveal about their knowledge of politics is disturbing.

Sanction the US? With what? What can this country possibly sanction the US with and with?

Just the words sound comical.

The issue really should NOT be about Elon. The real issue is why did politicians, police and counsellors allow the systematic abuse and violence of children. The truth if you are sincere about it is “the vote bank” of those communities.

All that is required for evil to prevail if for otherwise good people to look the other way. Labour did not look the other way; they actively participated in the cover up.

All children are precious. Starmer has violated fundamental principles of humanity.

Still not for Elon Musk to become involved. Why doesn’t he involve himself in other countries politics then if he deems himself superior. He needs to leave the UK alone!

It’s just mass hysteria. It was the same for Farage and Trump for years.

Trump is about to be President for the second time and Farage just went mainstream.

These people just like to regurgitate what they see in the guardian, without really knowing much more.

Absolutely. Those who seek to make us look anywhere else are complicit

Gettingslimmer · 07/01/2025 07:09

You can’t seriously think we should sanction the us. I mean cmon, the effect on our economy would be enormous, never mind the impact on international relations , national security etc. it literally would be insane.

to be honest, im rather amused by it, poor beleaguered starmer, his first few months have been appalling, with the worst budget in decades taking our economy down, him and his mps on the take, and now musk calling him out on it.

apparentlh he said he’s finding being pm stressful. I bet. But he made promises, he broke them, immediately, so what if he gets called out on it.

XylophoneXylon · 07/01/2025 07:14

I don’t think he’s dangerous. His views may not be popular but he’s made them well known, he uses his platform to get his thoughts far and wide, at least we know in real time what his ideas , views and intentions are so if he is a threat he’s not exactly secretive ! He’s calling out a cover up of abuse in this case and rightly so. Sometimes may be wrong but but in this situation about the subject he’s right. He does seem to have a strong sense of justice over it.

BobnLen · 07/01/2025 07:14

This.

The issue is that people just heard about "grooming gangs" and say to each other "oh that's terrible isn't it".

They act like these gangs are the equivalent of a seedy Uncle or the pervy gym teacher, just on a large scale.

Not enough people have spent the time to read the details about what those girls actually suffered. These are torture and rape gangs.

There HAS been a cover up. This WAS allowed to continue despite a few brave souls trying to speak out. We DO have an issue with our government and police not knowing how to deal with crimes done by certain ethnic groups and religions.

Something needs to change and instead of being so worried about Musk, as women we should be demanding answers of our government and demanding action is taken.
What was done to those girls was the equivalent of murder in my opinion. The life they could and should have had was ended and that kind of trauma will change them forever.

I also think Elon is getting a lot wrong here.

But “it’s wrong to criticise other countries’ affairs” is not the right principle. Either as a private citizen or as a government figure. That’s the refrain of nationalists and authoritarian governments the world over.

He isn't just "raising the issue" he calling for the democratically elected govt to be overthrown, for Phillips and Starmer to be thrown in jail, without trial and is allowing his platform to incite the murder of UK politicians, inc our PM.

Pretty much this.

The UK thinks it can just go around and dictate morality to the world when it cannot even protect its most vulnerable girls from violent rape gangs.

I’m going to keep saying this: the UK is more aggressively attacking so-called racists than rapists. What are we to think about such morality?

Almn0etd · 07/01/2025 07:34

What’s your point? What is anyone going to do about it. Pound the keyboard with some manufactured rage

There is absolutely nothing anyone in this country can do about it. The government got dragged through a hedge for a few days and came to parliament yesterday to make a statement. The guy humiliated Starmer publicly and forced parliament to discuss it and Home secretary to make some word salad speech.

There you go, that’s all the power we have.
