To be annoyed that my DD teacher did this

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 21:54

Waiting to be dismissed at end of the day and it was raining heavy. Teacher had a very large umbrella. A few children were there including my DD. DD and some others moved and starting moving towards the umbrella to go under and all of a sudden teacher saw and did a turn so that the other children were under it but not my DD. It didn't matter too much as she was going to be dismissed soon anyway but not until she had seen me. I felt sad that she was the only one not under it and the teacher seemed to move with purpose so she couldn't be under it, but the other children left to be dismissed were?

She did a 360 to avoid my DD going under it.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/01/2025 21:57

That was very unkind of her.

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 21:58

Btw she is 5

I am sure it was not personal. Maybe she thought there were too many kids and she turned to avoid more joking. If there was a large group then they might physically be too close. Think to yourself is it likely that the teacher decided to spiteful ensure your child was not dry! Unlikely.

Katy232425 · 06/01/2025 22:02

You are massively overthinking. Maybe she misstepped, moved closer to hear a child who was speaking to her, thought she heard someone calling her, just simply didn’t see your daughter or was distracted by trying to keep eyes on children and look out for parents etc etc. Maybe none of them were meant to be under it and she just couldn’t avoid all of them. Or there was no space. Or she felt crowded. Presumably your daughter was wearing a coat?!

Unless you’re going to drip feed that this is part of a long pattern of deliberate unkindness to your daughter I think you need to put it out of your mind as an absolutely trivial non issue.

DaisyChain505 · 06/01/2025 22:04

You’re probably over thinking it. She could have heard her name being called so turned round quickly etc.

13Ghosts · 06/01/2025 22:05

Doesn't your daughter have a waterproof coat with a hood?

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 22:06

Yes warm coat and hood but so did the other Dc and there wasn't many of them left, enough room to all fit under the large umbrella but teacher moved so it was covering the others but not my DD

Has the teacher been unpleasant to your daughter at other times?

Lucyccfc68 · 06/01/2025 22:14

Sorry but I think you are over-thinking it. A teacher, at the end of a busy day, after dealing with 30 children, probably just wasn’t thinking about where her umbrella was and who it was covering.

CoraTheExplora · 06/01/2025 22:15

Wow. Maybe try and unclench?

HPandthelastwish · 06/01/2025 22:15

Your problem suits your user name!

Do you really think teacher actually saw your DD and thought "Ewww Mini Drama Lama is getting too close, she's a pain in the arse. I'll switch hands / do a 360 so she gets wet and let these other children stay dry"

Or do you think her thought process was more

"Fuck me it's pissing down out here and freezing! Where are the parents for these children so I can go in and have a coffee and get dry. I guess at least some of the can fit under here that's a bonus but they're all getting a bit close."

BarbaraHoward · 06/01/2025 22:16

That's so kind of the teacher to go to the trouble of bringing out an umbrella to try keep some of them dry. You're overthinking it.

Littlemisscapable · 06/01/2025 22:19

Unless there is a back story you are sooo overthinking this. A teacher is just really busy at the end of the day. End of. Relax

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 22:20

Ok, its just she looked and saw her coming and all of a sudden turned, she didn't even offer her to under with the others when there was room, just let her stand and be the only one not under

Growlybear83 · 06/01/2025 22:22

I think you're really over reacting. Your daughter won't go rusty in a bit of rain.

Grapesandcheseseplease · 06/01/2025 22:24

You’re really overthinking. There are a million reasons why the teacher could have turned and that minute. I bet my life it was nothing to do with your child.

This. I try and fit as many as possible under my brolly at dismissal but can't. I have to move slightly to look for parents who all look different with hoods up etc. we try our best to keep kids dry but don't always scoop up everyone

UnderTheStairs51 · 06/01/2025 22:24

Surely we are talking about seconds here? Is this just the time she looks for a parent to send them across?

Perhaps she's used to you being punctual so just assumed your daughter would be straight off?

I often lose my own child under my feet with an umbrella and I'm only looking for one. They are not really in your eye line especially when distracted by an umbrella

litepop · 06/01/2025 22:25

I doubt someone who chooses to be an early primary teacher could dislike an innocent 5 year old child enough to be deliberately mean.

I'm guessing there is a back story.....

TwattyMcFuckFace · 06/01/2025 22:27

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 21:58

Btw she is 5

Blimey, teachers are getting younger and younger these days!

Sorry OP Blush

YANBU, on the face of it, it does sound like a mean move.

litepop · 06/01/2025 22:29

You say there was a group of children all moving to get under it and turned to cover the others.
Was it maybe a case of her moving to cover multiple children but in doing so moved away from 1 child?
She was probably drained after a long and desparate to get in out of the rain herself. She perhaps moved to cover the majority and expected your Dd to move with her.

Or was your expectation that she sheltered your Dd and left the larger group out in the rain?

litepop · 06/01/2025 22:30

@Sherrystrull - this is the point I was making but explained better!

Allswellthatendswelll · 06/01/2025 22:34

She probably didn't see you daughter was there and moved to try and cover a load of other kids. Or she saw your daughter had a coat on and moved to cover the kids that didn't. Or she saw your daughter was aboit to be picked up anyway. Or she was just a bit frazzled.

Honestly dismissing 30 kids in the pouring rain is no picnic!

Bumcake · 06/01/2025 22:36

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 21:56

A 360?

Anyway, not much you can do about it is there?
