To be annoyed that my DD teacher did this

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 21:54

Waiting to be dismissed at end of the day and it was raining heavy. Teacher had a very large umbrella. A few children were there including my DD. DD and some others moved and starting moving towards the umbrella to go under and all of a sudden teacher saw and did a turn so that the other children were under it but not my DD. It didn't matter too much as she was going to be dismissed soon anyway but not until she had seen me. I felt sad that she was the only one not under it and the teacher seemed to move with purpose so she couldn't be under it, but the other children left to be dismissed were?

I'd just mention it to her on the quiet, I'd say I saw what happened you purposely moved away from her, and I don't care wether you have bonded with her or not but you do not treat her any differently from the other children, I will be watching closely to make sure this doesn't happen again and I may also pick her up early sometimes just to check things are going well.
But one thing you should know my child will not be made to feel uncomfortable and will not be treated any differently to any other child, you will remain professional at all times.
Before anyone starts mentioning about the message seeming a little threatening, I work in a school, sometimes people have their favourites and make it clear, there's no way I'd put up with it, 100% it happens I see it all the time

😂😂

You cannot be a real person.

Redfox · 07/01/2025 00:13

Everyone has said it above and I echo it all- get a grip.

Christ who would be teacher with parents complaining their previous child got a few drops of rain water on them...

And there we are. Everything that is awful about teaching today. Words fail me.

Alright Liam Neeson

CoraTheExplora · 07/01/2025 00:16

@MartinCrieffsLemon 🤣 it is giving taken vibes isn't it?

DoloresODonovan · 07/01/2025 00:16

if at first you don’t succeed, just keep trying,

are all schools and colleges back in tomorrow

I will find you.... 😂😂😂

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 07/01/2025 00:16

Anybody else got that singing in the rain dance or Mary bloody Poppins stuck in their head now, with all this 360 degree umbrella twirling?! 🌂

MadnessIsMyMiddleName · 07/01/2025 00:06

I simply can't believe that you're posting about something so ridiculous OP! If you get yourself in a tizz over something like this when your child is 5, I doubt very much that you will survive her teenage years. Get a grip!

and have to stand up in assembly as a disciplinary measure or something similar? tsk

4forksache · 07/01/2025 00:18

The teacher would have had her mind full with dismissing the class, remembering to speak to mum x about child x, and mum y about child y etc. I doubt your child and the umbrella were even on her radar.

Kibble29 · 07/01/2025 00:20

Do teachers have WhatsApp groups where they moan about parents?

Yes! with Tom Holland then him breaking out into Umbrella the lip sync battle,
one of the most watchable vids on You Tube

I wish. But in general schools have social media policies that preclude staff doing that.

They (you?) deserve a consequence-free right to moan about people like the OP and others like her, IMO.

pollyglot · 07/01/2025 00:29

Are you serious? Truly? Any more sins can be pinned on lazy/incompetent/uncaring/inconsiderate teachers???Have you been a teacher?

I think this message would have more impact if you could get Liam Neeson to deliver it. Especially if you can get him to throw in something about having a very particular set of skills...

👀How closely are we talking here? Telescope? Binos? Magnifying glass?

I imagine you to start a whatsapp about Brollygate in the parents group acting all billy big bollocks with a petition for their dismissal for the darling child getting wet!!! Funny as hell😂

Ok, its just she looked and saw her coming and all of a sudden turned, she didn't even offer her to under with the others when there was room, just let her stand and be the only one not under

OMG. Are you hearing yourself? She is trying to release 30 kids to their parents and apparently is supposed to have the worlds biggest umbrella to cover 30 children and for some unknown reason she turned suddenly and the worlds biggest umbrella didn’t cover your child.

You have no idea why she turned suddenly and- a kid said something, something caught her attention, she heard a noise, someone tapped her from behind (children are known to do this).

You are sad this happened. I honestly can’t grasp what even possessed you to write this on Mumsnet.

Just to ruin it for you so you can mentally prepare yourself from having a breakdown. Your child may not get chosen for the lead in the school play. Your child may not get chosen for a school team. Another kid may have suggested your child wasn’t perfect and you may get a call home. Another kid may have accidentally taken your kids jumper and it may never return. Your kid may not be well liked or have loads of friends when they get older - in fact almost certainly they won’t be invited to a party which will seem catastrophic.

This is probably the most insane post I have ever read.

Outrageous. Complain to the headteacher

For an infraction this large and serious. Nope not enough. Does anyone have the number for the prime minister?

Where did you get 30 kids from? OP said it was just a few.

Flittingaboutagain · 07/01/2025 01:53

At face value very unkind yes. I would assume the teacher hates her job and takes it out on children as many miserable or stressed adults do.

However I would hope it's more likely you are missing some context and this was an innocent oversight.
