To be annoyed that my DD teacher did this

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 21:54

Waiting to be dismissed at end of the day and it was raining heavy. Teacher had a very large umbrella. A few children were there including my DD. DD and some others moved and starting moving towards the umbrella to go under and all of a sudden teacher saw and did a turn so that the other children were under it but not my DD. It didn't matter too much as she was going to be dismissed soon anyway but not until she had seen me. I felt sad that she was the only one not under it and the teacher seemed to move with purpose so she couldn't be under it, but the other children left to be dismissed were?

Outrageous. Complain to the headteacher

CoraTheExplora · 06/01/2025 22:40

I reckon you should complain and get the teacher disciplined for 'ostracising' your child. Your poor baby getting wet alone in the play ground.

100-% get the teacher sacked

RichardGeresTie · 06/01/2025 22:42

🙄

WashingDryingForEver · 06/01/2025 22:43

If she did a 360, she would have been where she started.

Seriously 😒 🙄

BraOffPjsOn · 06/01/2025 22:47

Maybe she knew you were right there so DD didn’t need to go under the umbrella.
Maybe she looked in the direction of your DD but was focused on something else.

Oh the start of term again. I hope my parents stay lovely! 🤞

Delphiniumandlupins · 06/01/2025 22:48

I think you were watching your DD closely but the teacher wasn't. The teacher may not really have been aware who was/wasn't under the umbrella. Do you think she has discriminated against your DD previously?

Tiswa · 06/01/2025 22:48

I think you have politely what my DS would call main character syndrome where you saw it and immediately made it about your DD and a deliberate act rather than the 90% far more realistic option it was a genuine oversight

Magnastorm · 06/01/2025 22:50

YANBU. Complain. Go in hard and aggressive and demand her job, it's the least they can do.

You are massively overthinking. Maybe she misstepped, moved closer to hear a child who was speaking to her, thought she heard someone calling her, just simply didn’t see your daughter or was distracted by trying to keep eyes on children and look out for parents etc etc. Maybe none of them were meant to be under it and she just couldn’t avoid all of them. Or there was no space. Or she felt crowded. Presumably your daughter was wearing a coat?!

Unless you’re going to drip feed that this is part of a long pattern of deliberate unkindness to your daughter I think you need to put it out of your mind as an absolutely trivial non issue.

Maybe she's not overthrowing, sounds quite a mean thing to do, maybe it's nothing more than a teacher being mean, it does happen?

Daisybuttercup12345 · 06/01/2025 22:53

Precious first born?

Sherrystrull · 06/01/2025 22:54

To add, if I've got 20 children to fit under a brolly. I always pull in the tiny ones prone to shivering, the ones whose parents are always late and who will be waiting a while, the ones with inadequate clothing or the ones prone to running off. One's left outside the brolly are generally sensible, well clothed and picked up by on time parents. We have large classes and try our best.

Think I am beginning to realise why so many teachers are leaving the profession

WonderingWanda · 06/01/2025 23:00

Get your dd a raincoat with a hood, assuming you are in the UK, this won't be first or the last time she gets wet at school.

CarpeVitam · 06/01/2025 23:02

Oh dear OP, sorry but you need to get out more! 🙄

DoggoQuestions · 06/01/2025 23:03

Jesus fucking Christ 🙄

DramaLama0 · 06/01/2025 22:06

Yes warm coat and hood but so did the other Dc and there wasn't many of them left, enough room to all fit under the large umbrella but teacher moved so it was covering the others but not my DD

Maybe this is a stretch but does your daughter have any behavioural issues or are they a minority in any way

DinosaurMunch · 06/01/2025 23:05

Why don't the children and teacher wait inside the doorway? The children get sent out one by one once the teacher has spotted the parent. All standing in the rain seems mad.

MartinCrieffsLemon · 06/01/2025 23:08

Did she also scream "No young Llama, you are not allowed under here. Stand and freeze" so your daughter got the message?

And what was the teachers response when you queried this unfavourable behaviour towards your DC?
Obviously no one here was present to witness what you saw, so can only offer possible reasons, as they have done.

RafaistheKingofClay · 06/01/2025 23:10

Tim’s highly unlikely this was done on purpose and much more likely this was accidental.

Presumably your DD has feet, eyes and the ability to think for herself so could have moved in to find a new space that was under the umbrella if she was very wet.

Choccyscofffy · 06/01/2025 23:12

If you’re sure it was deliberate then I would have a word with the teacher about your concerns about dd being left out.

If there is anything like going on, at least the teacher will know you’re on to her.

For goodness sake get a grip @DramaLama0 your username is very apt!

My thoughts exactly. Who could be fucked with this.

rainbowstardrops · 06/01/2025 23:14

It is incredibly stressful at the end of the day and making sure you send each child to their waiting adult. Even more so when it's pissing down with rain and everyone has hoods and umbrellas up!
I expect the teacher just wanted to send the children out as quickly as possible and go and have a well deserved coffee knowing no child will turn into a pumpkin if they get wet.
Like a pp said, it's no wonder teachers and TAs are leaving in droves when this is the kind of shit they get moaned at for.
