Parking issue

I’m writing this post to establish if i am
being unreasonable by wanting simple (ish) access to my driveway without having to drive forwards and backwards multiple times to avoid hitting the parked van. I appreciate this isn’t a serious matter but more a frustrating one given the selfishness of the owner, who could easily park it outside his own property on his double driveway. Instead he’d rather inconvenience others. I’ve referred this to the local authorities and they will get back to me in due course. The company aren't interested as we’ve talked to the owner and they’ve said it’s a neighbourhood issue. Well, of course but it involves property of yours ! Also, if emergency services want access to our elderly neighbour to the right, they’ll never get through. Interested in sensible comments only. Thanks

Don’t apologise. MN is a vipers nest sometimes, where people can be very bullying towards other posters. You rightly raised something that was a concern to you. If people don’t like your concerns, that’s a ‘them’ problem. Just pick out the more helpful suggestions on here, and ignore the rest. I always say there’s a a way of getting your point across without resorting to being mean to others, no matter whether you agree or not. But hey, that’s the internet for you.

Of course he shouldn't be parked there ... not because or your drive but because he's on a corner.

I don’t know the users or make up of this forum. I actually searched online for an equivalent dadsnet and it routed me here.

I’m perfectly calm thank you. I don’t give a shiny shite that this man can’t drive his own car. I do think it’s rude to rock up to a forum for the first time ever and be condescending to the regular posters. I don’t need a pat on the head and be told to ‘calm down’.

I’ve been driving for 21 years and it wasn’t ever about driving. Anyway, I’ve apologised to anyone who I’ve upset / offended. Is it too early for a glass of wine, i might have one 😂

I still can’t see how he was condescending? Perhaps some mumsnetters are so used to not getting an apology, that they view any attempts at one as condescending. And my comment on ‘calming down’ was to highlight a proper condescending comment……

I don’t see the problem to be honest, obviously in an ideal world you don’t want someone parking opposite your drive but they are allowed to park there. I can admit myself I’m not the best parker but even I would be able to get in and out of that with the van there without it being a multiple point manoeuvre. If “the driving isn’t the issue” then I really don’t see what the issue is, you don’t own the road?

I often get people who park right opposite my drive and it can make it almost impossible to get out at times. I would always avoid doing that if it is at all possible.

A male comes to a parenting site that is female led to ask about parking. Sure there are similar threads here but if I didn’t know of it use this site, Mumsnet wouldn’t be my first choice
