What are people doing to their faces?!

I am mid 30s. Colour my hair, wear makeup, thread my eyebrows etc so not completely natural but my goodness what are people doing to their faces?! Young women who are beautiful now have so much injected into their faces that they cannot move them at all. I was looking back at photos in my mid 20s and was wondering why on earth did I worry about my looks at all. Hindsight is wonderful! And I am despairing that girls younger than this have already started to inject Botox and fillers. The world is going mad and don’t even get me started on weight loss injections for those who are not clinically obese! I have two daughters and really feel so worried for them up.

Having quickly scanned through this thread I agree that women should be able to choose how they look ...the issue for me is that a lot of young women look as if they have come from the same mould..printed on brows filled lips. So why?It really feels to me that this is happening more and more and seems to be more than wanting to be trendy or whatever. I'm not sure how to describe it to be honest. But behind all this are people selling these procedures. and making a lot of money. There is relentless pressure on women to have these procedures and not all of these are harmless or temporary either. True going back a long time but anyone remember when Lesley Ash had lipfillers and how it affected her acting career? Where has the individuality gone? By chance chatting to a close friend this morning she was telling me about how her granddaughter has started clamouring to have her eyebrows "done" ..at literally just 12 her birthday -just before Christmas. The more we seem to be saying to young women be yourself you don't have to be like everyone else it's you as a person who matters not looking like everyone else the more the photos on social media show the filled lips and so on. Some young women look more like plastic dolls not real people (yes it's an opinion and I don't want to be offensive) and does this encourage some men to treat their partners as things rather than individuals who have feelings.? There is so much violence directed at women of all ages from men. I do sometimes feel that women are far from being treated as equal to men and we have a long way to go. I found a picture of Katie Price when she first became ubiquitous in the media her picture in every paper. Surely you cant deny she was a pretty girl..and.look at her now. Is this pressure on boys/young men to such an extent that they feel they have to change their faces cos that's what it comes down to. You can grow say a chinstrap beard perhaps but that can be shaved off...All of this makes me sad to be honest. Are young people really encouraged to think for themselves or have social media just blunted that ability? If you have got to the end of this thank you for persevering.

I've heard the term from some youngsters that a lot of young women look like they have been copied and pasted.

@Sueskatflap I agree, Katie Price was so pretty before she started to have work done.

Are women and girls being groomed to adopt excessive personal grooming regimes?

Yes, by the ever expanding and unscrupulous beauty industry who are making billions in profit at every level including those who ultimately fix the mess women find themselves in.
It will eventually collapse when increasing numbers of people start to take legal action. Or when fashions change.
There is a pattern that starts with the celebrities gradually filtering down to the masses. Then when the celebrities change the goalposts and it all starts again.
There is a lovely book by Dr Zuess called “The Sneetches”
