I know you're busy doing a lot of trolling here but that come back was totally lame.

I love the way that speaking out against the drugging & rapes of tweens is now called trolling! That really is concerning that you feel that way...

No thank you "love" I'd prefer a global one from Netflix that will show the world how those girls were failed. BBC too small fry.

Try using a VPN and pretend you are in the UK

JFC
THERE HAS BEEN AN INQUIRY

Suella Braverman, Priti Patel, Grant Shapps and James Cleverly all failed to implement the recommendations.

Thanks for that. So really why do people expect a different result this time. No-one wants to know.

Agree.

Someone with a strong political incentive looks to exploit these young women further for his own political ends, and, fortunately, the majority of mumsnetters are savvy enough to see through him. Shame it's not 100%..

MrTiddlesTheCat · 03/01/2025 13:47

Good on Musk for putting the spotlight on England. He has called on King Charles this morning to dissolve government.

You think it'd be a good thing for the democraticly elected British government to be dissolved on the say so of a self serving foreign agent? Really?

Down with Netflix! They must be in cahoots with Labour!

But this is what happens when political parties become ineffectual and don't appear to be listening to those they are supposed to represent. It allows the "truth-tellers" to gain in popularity and power. It's what happened with Trump. Elin Musk is an egotistical maniac, he's also an agitator and change-maker. We are going to see more and more and more of this undemocratic influence as long as we have weak-willed, self-serving politicians.

The alternative to "weak willed" politicians need not be shouty divisive billionaires. More fool anyone who falls for it - I do not look forward to the world that would create.

Literally a week ago Elon Musk was being hounded over his stance on H1B immigration to the US - arguing that the US should significantly lift/raise their caps on bringing in mainly Indian engineers. His position was that he built his companies alongside brilliant minds from all over the world and the US should be more welcoming to high-skilled immigration.

He got trashed for it by Trump fans fwiw.

He may have personal reasons for wanting to distract from that, or for wanting to boost Reform, but based on his profile, I don't think he has an issue with quote-unquote "brown people".

I think regardless of any other motivations, he also genuinely DOES have an issue with child rape and torture gangs. Weird I know but it takes all kinds...!

He absolutely does have an issue with brown people (and especially black people) and a desire to bring in indentured tech workers to reduce his costs and increase returns for stakeholders does not change that.)

There is a long established history of Musk sharing anti-immigrant and racist tweets as retweeting by others). This is the same man who support the racist Tropes about Haitian migrants and supported publicly the cartoonist Dilbert in the backlash against his anti-black comments. He is a selective racist and will give a temporary pass to “model minorities” that serve his purpose.

He also highlights and repeats the racist “Great Replacement mythology”.

You can claim that does not matter in the investigation of this issue (which is fair comment) but don’t pretend that Musk is not a racist contrary to all evidence. He just wields it in a way that will best serve him.

MyLadyGreensleeves · 03/01/2025 13:50

I am grateful to Elon Musk but what a shower of shit are in charge that he has to be the one to call it out for the disgrace it is.

I used to admire Jess Phillips very much. Every year, she would get up in parliament and read out a list of women who had died by domestic abuse.

Now, however, because she is clinging on to her seat with a majority of about 600 down from around 13,000 she decides it would be politic to not upset her Pakistani constituents and say instead that action should be left to Oldham Council. As Oldham Council is largely made up of Pakistani councillors, we wait to see how effective that will be.

I sincerely, sincerely, hope that she will never ever read out her list again. The stink of hypocrisy would infiltrate the nostrils of every woman who knows right from wrong.

Sham on you, Jess Phillips. You have sold your integrity for a basin of slop as your constituents will vote you out next election regardless. What a pity you turned into a snivelling, arse licking coward, selling your principles for nothing.

JK Rowling has been pilloried for sticking her nose in because she's an incredibly rich woman. Why does that make her irrelevant?

Musk is doing the same.

Relations in Yorkshire have police officers in the family who are absolutely helpless in the face of these gangs, because they're untouchable. It's still going on btw.

JK rowling is a British taxpayer and voter. Musk is none of those things.

So your outrage is faux?

Why a Netflix documentary to show globally - I doubt the rest of the world gives a shit, and frankly has its own problems to worry about

We have had a Netflix documentary about Prince Andrew & also Epstein. This is just as bad especially as it involves the judicial system & government.
Many of the women involved have spoken out. They deserve to be heard internationally & it will raise awareness in other countries which may prevent & stop other gangs from forming. It many protect thousands of girls globally from a similar fate.

Or we can lament the spotlight on this long-running child rape and torture scandal, and associated cover-up, because the person highlighting it is on the wrong team. I’m pro-spotlight and anti-cover-up (and anti-mass-rape), even if it’s my opponents opposing it.

It is very disturbing that some people on here appear to be criticising Elon Musk for shining a light on the rape and torture of girls in the UK!

I'm equally disturbed at mumsnetters cheerleading for president elect musk and tommy Robinson.

@Chainzreaction fyi & anyone else who thinks this a an 2untouchable" crime.

Friday 8 November 2024
Two men have been convicted and jailed for sexually abusing young girls in Calderdale, bringing the total to 22.
Legal restrictions and appeals against convictions meant we were unable to share the outcomes until today.
The convictions follow an investigation launched in 2016 following reports of repeated sexual abuse of a vulnerable young girl between 2002 and 2006, starting when she was 13 years old.

Investigations leading to jail time are still happening & both men jailed are of Pakistani origin.

Jamlighter · 03/01/2025 13:54

What a load of bollocks. It is clear from your posts that you know very little about the justice system. If you think this country is bad for not protecting girls (and it is) you really need to look at the rest of the world and how women and girls are treated there. A Netflix documentary will do nothing to protect girls around the world.

thousandsofdreams · 03/01/2025 13:55

JHound · 03/01/2025 13:27

This is a sobering but important post and why I worry about this. People want to make this a racial football. Without denying that there seems to be an issue with this in some Pakistani communities people seem to think of that problem is fixed then the problem of CSA
goes away.

When we will instead be tackling a minority of the problem while being intensely relaxed in ignoring the majority.

I agree with you, and thank you for quoting that long post. I was in a care home for a year in the 1970s but had a relative who spent longer in care and the abuse was horrific. It worries me that more and more people are going into care at the moment, the numbers going up, the companies responsible for housing and care are private companies valuable to pension funds. I agree, remove the racial element and focus on why these young people had no protection. I don't mind Elon passing comment on issues, I am not sure why he is but I am guessing there is a reason, but I don't think he fully understands the UK situation re migrants and race.

Hey I didn't say he wasn't racist.

I said he didn't have a blanket issue with "brown people".

"Brown people" is such a stupid term and will never help anyone understand (i.e. predict the behaviour of) racists and racism.
