Yeah, Elon Musk, campaigner for social justice. 🙄

WinterCrow · 03/01/2025 08:53

Can we start calling them what they are - child rape & torture gangs. These were rape networks for torturing girls, with rape locations that were in many cases known to police.

Unfortunately the word 'grooming' has been used to minimise what really happened, and still is happening.

tinydynamine · 03/01/2025 08:54

It's the job of the opposition parties to hold the government to account NOT eccentric foreign tycoons.

DoingTheBestICan · 03/01/2025 08:55

I was scrolling through TikTok last night and came across a post that had screenshots of some of the court documents, to say what I saw very briefly horrified me is an understatement.
There should be a Govt enquiry and there should be repercussions for anyone who turned their face the other way. Disgusting and completely abhorrent that these young girls have been raped and abused and subsequently let down by people who were meant to protect them.

nfkl · 03/01/2025 08:56

Elon is not my favourite messenger, but at least, they can’t ignore him the way they have ignored public opinion, so thanks Elon, keep pushing

Fluufer · 03/01/2025 08:57

I do agree that action should be taken, but I'd really rather the ego maniac mega rich stay out of our politics. Elon doesn't actually give a shit, he's stirring for own benefit and we shouldn't encourage it.

This. Why are they called grooming gangs and not child rape and torture gangs. I'll admit I'm not in the UK but from what I can read that is what they were right?. Why the minimisation?

Yeah, Elon Musk, campaigner for social justice. 🙄

Well someone has to shine a light on it & demand a full inquiry. I am happy to see this get so much coverage, I am so angry right now. Girls as young as 10 & 11 drugged & rapes.
Good on Musk for putting the spotlight on England. He has called on King Charles this morning to dissolve government.
As a mother of three girls this is the most shocking & awful tragedy against women in our country. Justice must be provided for every child.

BananaNirvana · 03/01/2025 08:57

Of course, because Musk really cares and isn’t just using this as another way to promote his far right policies and get Farage elected.

This horror absolutely needs to be fully investigated but Musk should not be allowed to interfere in UK politics in the way he is doing - he is an incredibly dangerous man.

Yeah, this is it for me. He's not a government official last time I checked, just a rich bloke.

IKnowAristotle · 03/01/2025 08:58

Are we all suitably assured it's not a convenient dog whistle to drum up support for the political party he's donating huge amounts of money towards?

Well if neither side is doing anything surely you'd prefer someone did.

100% this, grooming is a huge understatement and I think it purposely called that to minimise the crimes - this was mass rape and torture of children.

But Musk doesn’t give a fuck. We need someone who actually wants justice to pick this up not someone using these girls for his political ends.

I don't really care, the spotlight is firmly on the government right now. Elon will double his efforts in a fortnight when Trump gets in. The more pressure on govt the better.

Like Elon Musk really gives a shit about those girls.

And if the perpetrators weren't brown, I wonder how many others would really give a shit either.

Those poor girls. Not only did they suffer awful abusive horrors, they are now political pawns too.

SALaw · 03/01/2025 08:59

I don't think Elon Musk wading in will be the thing that makes the difference. British people need to be up in arms (and should have been throughout the time the Tories were in office too as this was known about then) and hold the Government to account until real change is made.

That’s literally ALL it is.

ScribblingPixie · 03/01/2025 08:59

The pressure should be overwhelming, I don't care who it's from. I'll never forget watching Question Time a few years ago when this was first discussed and one - female! - Labour MP said the problem was the girls' lack of self-respect. "How are we bringing girls up in this country?" One of the worst things I've ever heard.

ExtraOnions · 03/01/2025 08:59

Elon Musk… who helped a sex offender get in the White House, is not interested in violence against women and girls. He’s (another) right-winger, who would use anyone and anything to stir up hatred, with little recourse to facts.

If I thought he was actually interested in those girls, and doling up meaningful solutions fine .. but he isn’t, he isn’t addressing the issues of poverty and deprivation, that make girls more vulnerable, from his Billionaire property.

Weird how the pressure is mounting now? Not before?

Several of the women who have been bravely shining a light as victims of this are happy it's having sunlight on it. Their skin colour isn't relevant, but their culture is as these girls were targeted because they were white and British.

Don't call the industrial-scale rape and torture of children a dog whistle. Just fucking don't.

AzurePanda · 03/01/2025 09:01

I’m no fan of Musk but am very grateful to him for shining a light on this vile story, particularly given that the pathetic Jess Phillips would appear to prefer to brush the whole thing under a carpet.

I’m also grateful to Musk for buying Twitter, before he did so saying a trans woman was man could earn you a life time ban.
