Weird how the pressure is mounting now? Not before?

I don't care. Those who allowed this to happen and proliferate should be brought to account. It doesn't matter at all to me who makes it happen.

labamba007 · 03/01/2025 09:01

I don't understand why people have a problem with the fact that Musk is bringing this up and more importantly that's what they are focused on. I don't really care about his motives the fact is these young girls were let down by the people meant to protect them. They need justice and we need to prevent this from happening again (because it's still happening).

There are also people still in prominent positions in the police, councils and government that knew or actively covered up what happened. They need to be fired.

Berga · 03/01/2025 09:01

If Elon Musk cared so much about social justice and inequality he would use his vast wealth to address it directly.

But he doesn't, he just goes around shit stirring because it makes him feel important and powerful to interfere.

Moonwalkies · 03/01/2025 09:02

BananaNirvana · 03/01/2025 08:57

Of course, because Musk really cares and isn’t just using this as another way to promote his far right policies and get Farage elected.

This horror absolutely needs to be fully investigated but Musk should not be allowed to interfere in UK politics in the way he is doing - he is an incredibly dangerous man.

People are either for free speech or not. Plenty of our actual politicians (so not even just rich billionaires) comment on the incoming US president.

Are we all suitably assured it's not a convenient dog whistle to drum up support for the political party he's donating huge amounts of money towards?

Does that mean we shouldn't do something about it then?

Can we start calling them what they are - child rape & torture gangs. These were rape networks for torturing girls, with rape locations that were in many cases known to police.

Unfortunately the word 'grooming' has been used to minimise what really happened, and still is happening.

J.K Rowling agrees with you . Me too, they are rape gangs.
The next government must ensure gangs like this are stamped out & feel the full effects of the law if they ever attempt to touch another child again.

Aibu to be very happy Elon Musk is putting so much pressure on Stamer over the grooming gang tragedies?

Good on Musk for putting the spotlight on England. He has called on King Charles this morning to dissolve government.

Which would achieve what exactly? Aside from being ridiculous - who is he to call for anything of the sort, it's just a random (rich) man's opinion. But are the people needing justice going to be helped by an election?

Globusmedia · 03/01/2025 09:03

Elon Musk is a eugenecist. That's who you are supporting in trying to interfere with our government.

I agree with this, and I look forward to Labours formal response about why they have taken the stance towards the systematic networks of rapists targeting a specific demographic of young girls.

Upstartled · 03/01/2025 09:04

On another thread a poster linked to a House of Lords speech in which the figure of 250,000 girls harmed at the hands of grooming gangs was used. I had absolutely no idea that the scale of these horrors were so expansive that quarter of a million girls were thrown under the bus of media apathy, government cowardness and police corruption.

Who cares what his reasons are this is very positive in shining a light on what has been a massive cover up.
Why are posters trying to deflect by saying he's interfering? So what! His interference is needed as the UK has done fuck all ..

It's the job of the opposition parties to hold the government to account NOT eccentric foreign tycoons.

Agreed.

But as they manifestly failed to do their job, then people you like less will step in.

This is why everyone needs to take their responsibilities seriously and hold power to account. This is a scandal of epic proportions and so many sections of our society are implicated.

Hear me out on this one...people can agree or not find fault with specific actions of some whilst not supporting everything they are for. It's weird how some are so against him using his global platform to highlight the injustice these poor girls (many now women) have faced for all of these years. Personally I wouldn't give a hoot if Satan himself raised it as an issue to be addressed.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 03/01/2025 08:59

Like Elon Musk really gives a shit about those girls.

And if the perpetrators weren't brown, I wonder how many others would really give a shit either.

Those poor girls. Not only did they suffer awful abusive horrors, they are now political pawns too.

And if the perpetrators were white skinheads, would you criticise anyone publicising this catastrophic safeguarding, policing and local and national government scandal?

I don't care about the skin colour or ethnicity of the perpetrators, I care about the culture that has arisen that says poor, mostly white, girls are worthless slags.

Sharptonguedwoman · 03/01/2025 09:06

I don't think the interference of Elon is to be celebrated at all. I think we need to be aware if the fact that an enquiry was requested in 2022 under the Tories and was refused.
I'm ignoring the Kemi clones (Tories in power for 14 years, she's jumping on a bandwagon) and the very right wing press.

Grooming gangs and ethnicity: What does the evidence say?

Home Secretary Suella Braverman made several comments about the ethnicity of some high-profile gangs.

In theory, but it's the height of naivety to believe there is actually such a thing as opposition to the uniparty in Parliament

I saw that tweet & the video from the HOL. I am absolutely horrified. Quarter of a million girls. I am so happy this has been resurrected especially from the international media.. I feel it could cause the collapse of the government.

The guardian are reporting that Labour are upset with Elon Musk , why not be upset & angry on behalf of the 250,000 victims.

I’m no fan of Musk but am very grateful to him for shining a light on this vile story, particularly given that the pathetic Jess Phillips would appear to prefer to brush the whole thing under a carpet.

I’m also grateful to Musk for buying Twitter, before he did so saying a trans woman was man could earn you a life time ban.

Oh.

Porcuporpoise · 03/01/2025 09:07

I think YABU - Elon Musk is just a shit stirring right winger. There are more than enough people in the UK to put pressure on government. If we can't be arsed then I guess it's not a national priority for us.

ThejoyofNC · 03/01/2025 09:07

I watched Tommy Robinson's documentary on this a while back and I was so shocked at the cover up. Anyone who can help force the government to finally take action against these monsters is welcome to do so in my opinion.

Annabella92 · 03/01/2025 09:08

InWalksBarberalla · 03/01/2025 08:57

This. Why are they called grooming gangs and not child rape and torture gangs. I'll admit I'm not in the UK but from what I can read that is what they were right?. Why the minimisation?

Why do you think?

BallerinaRadio · 03/01/2025 09:08

The same Elon Musk that is currently campaigning for Tommy Robinson to be released from prison?

Yeah he can get in the bin he's got no interest in social justice or fairness

Bigredcombine · 03/01/2025 09:08

No, he can fuck right off. Who the hell does he think he is? He is a very dangerous man with far too much power.

Look, I want to hear you out and know you mean well, but no. In the bigger picture we cannot allow eugenecists with power, media control and money to start sticking their noses into elected government no matter how noble you think their cause is.
