Husband went to the gym on Christmas Day?

We did Christmas just the two of us. We don’t have children and our families live in different countries.

We did presents, watched a film, cooked dinner and then he said he was off to the gym. He is very much into the gym, goes pretty much every day.

He couldn’t understand why I was annoyed that he couldn’t just miss one day. Aibu?

I do think you're being a bit precious - surely it's not much different to a normal weekend day? He was probably gagging at the Bit because knew it would be deserted and he'd have free Rein (see what I did there?!). You should have taken the opportunity to either accompany him or toodle around doing whatever - even if it's watching crap TV! 99% of MN'ers would welcome a few hours to themselves to have an uninterrupted bath etc.

It’s the one question you keep on avoiding answering. If he was gone for 1-2 hrs you’re unreasonable. If he was gone for 3+ hrs - yes it’s a bit much.
theres no one in the world I want to spend 24 hrs with- I personally need breaks throughout the day otherwise I feel suffocated. What if him taking a bit of time/ space helps him be a better partner?

Yes this. We did things as a family and things separately. I did yoga and lounging in a bath for ages I hope DH isn’t posting about my selfish behaviour somewhere.

As a number of posters have said, the rude, obnoxious, and snarky responses from the OP on this thread make it very clear why her husband spends so much time in the gym! 😬 (And away from her in general!)

I would definitely rather go the gym than do a jigsaw. In fact if someone mentioned a jigsaw I'd be out the door for a walk at least.

I didn't watch any TV on Christmas Day either.
