"Men will give up their happiness for their families but women will give up their families for their happiness."

My DH explaining the burden of being a man to me this morning.

It probably means that men think they are happy to remain free and single then give that up to have the burden of family.

Which is odd considering markiert men ate happier.
Probably because women do the majority of domestic while single men would actually stand up for themselves.

AAwwww!!!! That's SO cute! When my kiddos were little, we used to have "opposite" day too! We had dinner for breakfast, snacks for lunch and breakfast for dinner. "Yes" became "No" and we tried to see how much we could stay opposite.

But, isn't he a little old for that? Buy him a pregnancy test and when he wonders why, say, "You started opposite day, so I'm just playing along".

alittlebitonthego · 22/12/2024 18:30

I'm confused how we're suppose to vote. Is it, the husband's comment is not unreasonable? Or is it, the op is not unreasonable for possible sarcasm?

If I was you Op, he'd be getting coal in his stocking.

Scirocco · 22/12/2024 18:33

Lol.

ConstanceM · 22/12/2024 18:33

True.

Wheresthebeach · 22/12/2024 18:36

Jesus wept he said that to kids! What a dick. Time for a talk and be clear that the sudden announcement that men are self sacrificing victims while women are selfish and more likely to abandon this families is misogynistic crap. More single parent families are female lead then those by men.

NovemberMorn · 22/12/2024 18:36

Husbands (ime) normally make stupid statements like this when they are looking for a row.
Best ignore.

Noideawhatimdoing40 · 22/12/2024 18:54

Is your husband on glue?

Noideawhatimdoing40 · 22/12/2024 18:57

Didn’t know Laurence Fox had remarried.

😂😂😂

TheaBrandt · 22/12/2024 18:59

Is he taking the piss?

ElleneAsanto · 22/12/2024 19:06

I think he means that men tend stay with a partner (because it’s convenient to have wifey looking after him) even if he’s unhappy with the relationship - and only buggers off when he finds another woman to look after him.

Whereas women are happier to ditch a partner that’s bringing nothing to the relationship and be independent.

mondaytosunday · 22/12/2024 19:28

Uh I think he has it the wrong way round!

Conat · 22/12/2024 19:45

How many women ever walk out on their husbands and children?

Single50something · 23/12/2024 18:54

KimberleyClark · 22/12/2024 15:51

Isn’t it the other way around?

Was about to say the very same thing. So many men's lives don't change when responsibility happens
Still go out a lot/continue with same job/same hobbies etc.

asrl78 · 23/12/2024 18:54

I can think of at least one or two things that suck about being a man but giving up happiness for family isn't one of them.

Lurkingandlearning · 23/12/2024 19:02

So he said that in front of his daughter? Hope she was ignoring him. What a pathetic maudlin sack of gas he is when hung over.

Owly11 · 23/12/2024 19:06

What the fuck am I reading? This is the absolute inverse of reality. I honestly could never share a space with a man who said that especially if he genuinely believed it.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/12/2024 19:08

I think he’s literally got it the wrong way round!

Honestly, what is he talking about?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/12/2024 19:09

Is in the middle of his monthly Battle of the Somme by any chance?

Loobieloogold · 23/12/2024 19:32

Wow. What was the context of this conversation?

Empressofall · 23/12/2024 19:35

Respectfully, this man is an idiot.

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 23/12/2024 19:46

To be fair, Daddy Pig is made into a laughing stock in Peppa Pig. It's a bit sus.

Your DH has gotten it the wrong way round though. Just ask any of the work/golf/cycling/football/pub widows, or the 2.7 million single mothers in the UK.

Marine30 · 23/12/2024 19:47

Meanwhile back on Earth..

I'm a bloke and this is nuts 🤣

DisabledDemon · 23/12/2024 20:02

Did you not realise that he was certifiable when you married him?
